Phew waiting! Glad it all worked out!

Waitingimpatient · 05/10/2015 11:28

The doctor said she couldn't believe with size of follicle that opk negative and made me do one there for her to check as she said "it's about to pop??!! It must have been positive" she looked confused to see a line so faint it was barely visible then said hcg trigger at 8pm today

lildottie · 05/10/2015 11:37

I bet you felt quite smug at that point! Did you say anything? I couldn't have held back the sarcasm!

bessie84 · 05/10/2015 12:39

Yes the Dr was v surprised and said I had to go and do a test and bring it straight to her as she said the follicle is about to pop so lh surge must have started
When it was negative she said I def need the hcg trigger tonight but she really looked confused! I've been telling them all along but they obviously didn't believe me

Have to start aspirin and cyclogest on wed does that sound standard for a day 3 embryo transfer on sat ? It felt like information overload today

lildottie · 05/10/2015 13:50

Cyclogest on Wed sounds right - 36 hours after trigger. No experience of aspirin though.

Hi ladies. Well, we got 7 eggs, a much better crop than expected, which is fantastic. Unfortunately, couple of hurdles to being PUPO this month. Firstly, in a fantastic stroke of timing, DH fell ill last night and which made providing a fresh sample this morning more than a little challenging. Secondly, my lining had got thinner since the last scan. So even if a fresh sample had been able to be provided this morning, we’d potentially have been looking at a freeze all cycle anyway, if the Progynova wasn’t able to get things thick enough before transfer. So, the eggs have gone in the deep freeze, and we await confirmation of next steps. Obv nothing can get transferred this month - would have been preferable to have embryos rather than eggs in the freezer, but the biggest hurdle was getting eggs in the first place. The priority next month will obv be getting my lining thickened up, although there’s a part of me that also wonders if it’s possible to do a consecutive stims cycle, and try to get more eggs so we have more embryos to work with (and maybe even something for the freezer for subsequent FET cycles)

I’m both absolutely elated to have got such a great crop, and devastated that I won’t be PUPO this month. And as yet, don’t have any clue about fertilisation rates Sad

But we have eggs. Which was the biggest hurdle. No idea how the fuck I’m going to get through the next month without driving myself hatstand!

Brilliant news banana ! 7 is a great number !

lildottie · 05/10/2015 17:22

banana how utterly frustrating and utterly amazing for you all rolled into one! Hope you dont have to wait too long.

So I caved and poas early today (otd Thursday and I'm 10dp3dt). Bfp on a frer. Feeling apprehensive after last time but relieved we've got this far again.

Waitingimpatient · 05/10/2015 17:32

Wow lildottie ! Such good news fingers crossed things go smoothly will you have to have an hcg blood test? Or wait for a scan?

lildottie · 05/10/2015 17:35

I'm going to ask for them to do a blood test late next week as that was when my hcg dropped last time. When I phone on otd to tell them they will book a 7wk viability scan.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 05/10/2015 17:52

Hi to everyone. Iv been a lurker for sometime (never posted).
Wondering if anyone can help to answer a question. I have a date to go for egg collection on Wednesday, the nurse called me today to confirm. I forgot to ask her if egg collection is classed as day 1 for a 3 or 5 day transfer or is it the day after egg collection they class as day 1. Need to know for my dh work commitments to move things around if nesssary.
If anyone could help to clarify it would be greatly appreciated thank you.

lildottie · 05/10/2015 18:00

Hi miracles day 1 is day after ec. I had a Tues ec and et on the Friday was day 3

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 05/10/2015 18:08

Just popping back to say a huge congratulations to dottie!! Totally sympathise with feeling apprehensive - I had my booking appointment today (how did that happen?!) and I just refuse to believe it's happening. DH says I will feel better after 12w scan when I'll feel like "normal people" but a) I'm not sure and b) my 12w scan isn't until 13w! Wah!

My councillor keeps saying to keep enjoying it - my mantra is "today I am pregnant and I'm bloody ecstatic"!

lildottie · 05/10/2015 18:18

Thanks toes. How dare they call it a 12wk scan And make you wait until 13weeks! Have you had an early scan at fc? I get one at 7wks. need to get that far first though

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 05/10/2015 18:30

Thanks Dottie. Gosh it's all so overwhelming and confusing at times. I'm so excited though. Trigger injection tonight at 11pm on the dot. I have 7 follicles not as many as I hoped but it only takes 1 right. Trying to remain as positive as I can.
Has anyone got more eggs than they expected at collection?

lildottie · 05/10/2015 19:00

miracle try not to get hung up on numbers. I had 11 eggs first time and 12 second time. Only had 7 fertilise and 5 this time and both times only 2 viable for transfer at day 2/3. I've seen others have less eggs, all fertilise and have some left to freeze. It really is quality over quantity, and yes, it only takes one!

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 05/10/2015 19:09

Thanks Dottie that keeps me a little more sane lol. Oh and congratulations on your bfp. Smile

bananafish81 · 05/10/2015 19:20

Omg Dottie hugest congrats - that's amazing! So so pleased for you - what brilliant news Grin

miracles I had 8 follicles total, only 4 of decent size so was expected to get 4 mature eggs. This morning at EC we got 6 good eggs (7 eggs total). Consultant kept reiterating it's quality not quantity and that it only takes one. Wishing you tonnes of luck

Spoke to consultant. He was absolutely astonished that we got 6 mature eggs as he couldn't believe I'd respond like that. He was genuinely concerned I wouldn't respond at all, and said he never imagined we'd get anything near that. So we know we got the stimulation protocol bang on.

He said judging by my lining this morning it was highly unlikely the Progynova would have had time to work in time for a fresh transfer, so we'd almost certainly have ended up having to do a freeze all cycle anyway - albeit with embryos rather than eggs.

It's frustrating but a medicated FET will give us much more control over my lining so as to give us the best chance possible for implantation - they will only thaw the eggs and fertilise with ICSI when the lining is ready.

DH is understandably utterly inconsolable about the turn of events. It's obv far far from ideal, but as hurdles go, fertilisation and building up the lining are much more easily surmountable than the expected hurdle of not getting (m)any eggs. So while the stims get out of my system, he'll freeze a sample in advance just as an insurance policy, then we'll go into a medicated FET in Nov.

Consultant says he's had v good results with frozen eggs and is optimistic that we'll be in a v good place once we can get everything in good shape. Just have to concentrate on the positives and not dwell on the frustrating bits - or how far away Nov feels! Xx

Waitingimpatient · 05/10/2015 19:42

Need some help/advice. My clinic is shut and just out of curiosity I just did both opk (boots line one and cb digital) lol and behold BOTH positive ?!

What do I do? Do I still do hcg trigger at 8pm ? Will it cause any harm if I've had lh surge and had trigger ?

Waitingimpatient · 05/10/2015 19:52

Been googling desperately. Looks like it's ok to do...... Hope so. Going to do it at 8.

I'm hoping it just ensures I definitely ovulate ?

purplemeggie · 05/10/2015 20:33

Wow, Lil - your post was so low-key I had to read it twice to absorb the significance. I do understand, but I've got my pompoms out for you. Great news - congratulations and good luck for the scary time. Wishing you a sticky little bean this time x

Waiting - I'm not ignoring you, but I have no idea about natural FETs - I've got everything crossed for you. And yes, cyclogest from Weds sounds right for a Sat day 3 transfer - you would normally start cyclogest from the day you have EC.

Lynn - you asked about knowing when it's time to stop. Only you will know, but for me, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm too old to start again - I know I'm very lucky to have ds and I would so love to have the sibling that he desperately wants, but am I now in danger of having two only children, rather than little companions? 8 years is a bit of a psychological cut-off for me: there's 8 1/2 years between me and my favourite brother (with one brother in between), so I know that that can work, but longer than that and it will be such a long time before they have anything in common.

Banana - we may be cycling together in November. I got AF on Thursday and will need to wait for another AF to start the next FET. Congratulations on your great crop of eggs, well done for managing to stay so philosophical about it, and good luck.

Hello Miracles and good luck.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 05/10/2015 21:26

Thanks banana that's good to know thank you. Feels like been waiting for this for such a long time just don't want anything to go wrong. I'm very hopeful though thank you all for kind well wishes. Hello Meggie

Waitingimpatient · 06/10/2015 07:02

Yes it really does only take 1. I had 16 eggs collected back in April and ended up with 3 frozen embryos (1xday 3 and 2xday 2) so the initial number collected didn't mean much ! Every day I called I felt sad that there were less and less but the way I see it now is that it must separate the strongest and that can only be a good thing
It's difficult though when everything seems to revolve around numbers and measurements and timings that's the bit I've found hardest the sheer overwhelmingness of it all.

I had a restless night last night. I try to not get excited about all this as it usually leads to disappointment but I can't help it I feel like a child a few days away from Xmas

Shellster52 · 06/10/2015 07:26

A huge congrats to you lil, although I totally understand the apprehension. I hwas (and still am after 10 previous IVF failures) the same way.

banana, 7 sounds like a great number to work with. Although I do feel for you having to wait - I had to wait 48 hours for a phone call for an update and that killed me, let alone waiting a month like you have to!

waiting, sorry I can't be any help either but logically it seems as you say, that it will only give you stronger ovulation hormones.

Miracles, 7 is a perfect number. Everyone wants to get 15 eggs for their IVF cycle, but I read a study article that had women on low dose drugs with lower number of eggs, then on higher dose drugs and more eggs for subsequent cycle. They tested both batches of eggs and even though their were more in the second batch, both contained the same number of genetically normal eggs. The first couple of follicles to mature contain the egg that your body is naturally selecting as the strongest and most likely to create a viable pregnancy so your best chance is with your first few eggs to mature, regardless of if they get 7 eggs or get a few more from smaller follicles. Hope that helps put your mind at ease.

purple, I am thinking of you. There's just been no rest for you. When was it you did your first IVF cycle? I've lost track of how long this thread has been going.
