3 days to go aussie! Caved in to any more POAS yet?

22 weeks chops! Passed the half way mark. Have you done any research on child birth or are you going with the 'ignorance is bliss' theory and just dealing with it at the time.

Went for my scan. Sounds like I'm being greedy when I should just be grateful to be pregnant after all it took to get this far, but after seeing one perfectly healthy tiny baby with a heartbeat, I was just disappointed it wasn't twins. Doesn't make sense as

  • I only ever wanted two and already have DS,
  • I will be spending this pregnancy repaying the credit card from my IVF debt can't afford to buy a bigger car
  • We have a 3 bedroom house so no room for a third child,
so logically 3 children doesn't work for us anyway, but our minds aren't always logical after our infertility struggles!

Anyway, I am adjusting now and am very grateful to have one healthy baby on board.

chopsface · 09/08/2015 13:44

I'm so so pleased for you shell Grin its about bloody time!

I'm going with the ignorance is bliss for now. Although I'm having massive dilemmas about maternity leave now. Need to let work know when I'm going off and how long for within the next 2 weeks. Oh and also whether dh is going to share my maternity leave. We've talked about it but we can't decide!

loopylou1984 · 09/08/2015 19:52

Shell! Congratulations, so glad you saw your little baby. It's always hard when you've got your hopes on something (twins) and it doesn't quite work out, but your having a baby!!!!! Hooray!! SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile Xx

Chops - surely you don't have to tell them now how long you plan to be off for?
At my work people don't seem to say if they're coming back or not right until the last minute! Xx

Good luck with your decisions chops. Here is Aus, we have up to a year where the company has to give us our job back if we choose to return and don't have to decide in advance. Obviously your system is different. Will you get paid any sort of maternity leave? Are you feeling less tired now that the iron tablets are kicking in? Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks for your congrats chops and sammy. Yes, I am still excited to finally be having a baby! Would have been much worse if there was no heartbeat! And I am happily adjusting to just one more instead of two.

I started another thread where those going through IVF joined and everyone was having failure after failure. I felt like I was a bit of a jinx! But there seems to be much more successful momentum on here so I truly hope you are next sammy

chopsface · 10/08/2015 17:20

They do keep your job opening for a year and you can change your dates coming back by giving 28 days notice but it's a pain.

loopylou1984 · 10/08/2015 22:08

Thanks Shell, me too! I think I may have ovd today, so only 3/4 days later than normal - will see what my temp does tomorrow! Xx

OP posts:
Shellster52 · 11/08/2015 01:03

Finally sammy. Did you give it one last a la naturale attempt - since you are unexplained from memory - is that right? Wonder why you ovulated so much later? Perhaps the stress and mind games of this really does affect our hormones. Either way, you ovulated and can now count down to starting IVF! Will you be starting on the short protocol next cycle?

It's a tough decision to make chops. It's hard to know if you want to go back. On the one hand, you might want to spend more than a year with your one precious miracle baby but on the other, it feels scary quitting and having no job to go back to. I'm not sure what I'm going to do either.

loopylou1984 · 11/08/2015 06:55

False alarm Hmm, no temp rise.
We were told not to try this cycle, but I'm not sure why. We did dtd last night but I got worried and told him to pull out before the vital moment. I'm so annoyed, this is probably going to end up making ET on our anniversary!
Not next cycle, it's end sep/oct. Still so long to wait HmmHmmHmm xx

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 11/08/2015 07:11

Oh and I bled for 10 days which is why ov could be delayed.

However I just poas (opk) and it's negative, so either I have ovd this morning and will see a temp rise tomorrow, or I haven't ovd at all which will suck as I'll have no idea how long this cycle will be HmmHmmHmm
I feel like the IVF has messed everything up, my cycles were so predictable before. Xx

ive kind of explained to myself... negative or positive... its for the best and not to get upset! lets see lol

loopylou1984 · 11/08/2015 20:34

Good luck Aussie!!! SmileSmileSmile

aussie82 · 12/08/2015 17:53

ok ladies went in today for my preg test... and apparently its 'inconclusive' ???

my level was 16 but it needs to be 25 for it to be a positive preg! i started a light bleed today so the clinic dont seem too hopeful and now have another blood test tomorrow morning!

i dont want to sound negative but i guess it hasnt worked... so back to square one again xxx

sorry ladies for the not sooo good news on the thread... we were doing sooo well xxx

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2015 19:21

Oh Aussie, I'm so sorry. Inconclusive? That's such a rubbish result, gives you that glimmer of hope while making you think there's non at the same time. I hope you're being looked after? Be kind to yourself. Xx

Frank85 · 12/08/2015 19:37

Just had a quick read online, doesnt seem like the end yet??
Could still go up they may have just tested too early
So sorry U didnt get a final result
I have everything crossed xxx

chopsface · 12/08/2015 21:40

Sorry it doesn't look hopeful Aussie FlowersCake what next for you?

Shellster52 · 13/08/2015 07:26

Sounds like a really stressful time Aussie. I had an early m/c at day 29 of my cycle in Jan and then my hCG a few days later was 0. So going by that, the fact that yours is 16 definitely seems to indicate that the embryo definitely started to implant and your numbers started to rise even though it doesn't sound hopeful if you are starting to bleed. I don't know if you can draw any hope from that and feel like at least you know that there is nothing wrong with implantation and it's just a matter of getting the perfect embryo. On the other hand, I understand that the thought of another IVF must feel all too emotional draining - as well as financially draining. Will wait to hear how you get on with your repeat blood test. xox

loopylou1984 · 14/08/2015 07:18

Aussie, how are you doing?

FF confirmed ovulation today... As cd19! So cd22 now, and 3dpo.

This is about 3 days later than expected making predicted ET date 9th/10th October. X

OP posts:
Shellster52 · 15/08/2015 02:21

At least it finally happened sammy. Wonder why it is so much later. Could the EPO still be in your system. Either way, at least it's happened and you can continue counting down,

loopylou1984 · 15/08/2015 07:14

It was just all the hormones I think. My usual 5 day AF was 10, so everything was pushed back. Temp dropped this morning, almost to coverline but had disturbed sleep as we had our new puppy for the night! We'll see what tomorrow brings. Xx

OP posts:
Shellster52 · 16/08/2015 00:51

The temping sounds very obsessive in one way, but then in another I guess it allows you to feel like you are doing something practical each day and just waiting 24 hours for another update instead of counting down until some future date in the distance.

loopylou1984 · 16/08/2015 08:42

It's back up again today.
I like temping because at least I know if I have an anovulatory cycle rather than getting to cd43 thinking it's possible I'm pg like back in October!

Plus, it's means I'll have more idea of whether the IVF dates are booked in correctly! Xx

OP posts:
Shellster52 · 17/08/2015 03:15

Oh yes, I recall having one of those anovulatory cycles and falsely getting my hopes up. So it's sounding like ovulation has definitely occurred then sammy :)

loopylou1984 · 17/08/2015 06:37

Yes I believe so, and only 3 days behind schedule! So the dates will be out, but not by too much... ET could end up being on our wedding anniversary now though! Lol.

How are you doing? Xx
