Hello ladies, I'm new here. About to have first IUI treatment the day after tomorrow. Anyone else in the same situation. This is our first go at IUI after trying on and off for about 7years. Was on chlomid for 9 months last year with no luck. So now trying IUI. Excited and scared at the same time!!

Thank you Ready. It's hard to keep the faith sometimes but I know we have to! Great to see a success story for iui. I'm so hoping it works for us all too.

I'm sure you do find it hard to accept that it's finally happening for you, when ttc for so long I think you tend not to take things for granted. I wish you all the very best, please update on your progress I'd love to hear. I hope your pregnancy is enjoyable and uneventful with the arrival of 2 very healthy babies at the end :)

Hello again!

Starting second cycle this week, so please hold fingers and thumbs that I don't over produce follicles again! I'm taking half the amount of clomid, so hopefully I will react well this time. Incidentally, this has been the most painful period I've ever known! Does anybody else find clomid really messes with things? I had seriously sensitive and swollen breasts, terrible spots and lots of cramps. Finally easing off as I get to start another round of clomid. Oh the joy...

Maryrose, any news on the flat? also, you said you're starting with your next cycle in September? How long are your cycles? (if you don't mind me asking! Blush that's seems a long time to wait!)

Manama do you know where you are on the waiting list now?

fraggle, have you decided to go ahead with it? Do you know when you'll start?

Maryrose85 · 27/07/2015 14:06

yippee!! sending positive vibes your way. have just had my schedule through. injections start again at end of August with scan on September 7th. we got the flat! get the keys on Saturday! sooooo excited!!

Honnibee that's great, I really hope this cycle can go ahead for you! Good luck!

MR congrats on the flat! That's brilliant. And glad to hear you are focusing on your next iui cycle :)

I think I'll be starting in sept, as there is a girl who was waiting for iui but is about 3 weeks ahead of me on the list and she's got her first app through for middle of august. So probably sept for me! Trying not to think too much about it until the time comes as I'm sure it will be stressful enough when it finally happens.

Good luck to you both, I will check in to see how it's going!

Hello ladies, can I join? We are doing d-iui stimulated cycle (private), same sex couple. No known fertility issues and regular cycles (27-31 days) but 2 scans have diagnosed minor PCOS hence stimulated cycle.Been waiting just over a year since GP referral (April 14) & had our treatment planning meeting today! Chosen our donor today too.

I think from what I can remember, I need to ring on CD1 (c.7th Aug) & will have a scan on CD2 or 3 when they will show me how to inject. I will then inject I think from then (?) until I go a week later (or is that when I start injections?) menpur everyday and get scanned every other day from CD7 or 8 until there is a large enough follicle (18mm) for a trigger shot and then insemination is about 36 hours later. Does that sound right??? All v complicated.Confused

HonniBee · 28/07/2015 08:11

Welcome Cazinge!

That's quite a wait you had to go through- must be very exciting for it to be finally happening!

Sounds like you've got it about right! I'm on clomid, not menpur, but you've described my cycle perfectly in your post. Phone on CD1, drugs from CD2-6, scans every two days from CD7/8, then trigger and out on about CD14. It's very confusing at first, but once you've been in for a scan or two it all becomes much easier. Do you have a help line number to call? I find the nurses at my clinic are very understanding and patient. They've put up with a lot of silly questions from me. Smile

Mamama- that sounds hopeful. Fingers crossed it's your turn soon. Keep us posted!

HonniBee · 28/07/2015 08:12

And Maryrose, congrats on the flat! Very exciting times.

karlafox · 28/07/2015 17:59

Hi
Hope you don't mind me joining. I am also waiting for the first cycle of IUI. Had all the injections etc last month only for the insemination to be cancelled on the day as they didn't have DH blood test result back in time. So I guess I was hoping that the injections alone my have helped for that month in someway! In fact this has been the first month in 20 months of ttc that I allowed myself to look at anything baby related... Unfortunately it feels like the dreaded AF is on its way..
Good luck to all of you guys, it's so hard to stay positive but keep the faith!

Maryrose85 · 28/07/2015 18:13

well, we've got quite a party here now! nice to be able to support each other through this. looks like we might all be going through iui together ð??? x

Hello everyone, thanks for the info honnibee & welcome to karla

After looking at the diary today I don't think I will start until Sept - just can't juggle the pre-booked work travel & meetings in August but Sept is relatively free (my own fault as I didn't anticipate being able to start end of next week).

Good luck to all those waiting for good news Smile

HonniBee · 28/07/2015 20:34

Hi Karla, welcome!
Frustrating that you had to abandon a cycle- I know that feeling.

It's great we've got a nice little group going now! I still haven't told loads of people what's going on, and I worry that the few who do know are bored of my constant updates on follicle size, nasty side effects, and so forth! It's nice to know we can share all the news here too.

karlafox · 29/07/2015 06:45

That is so true! Who knew we'd be such experts on the female anatomy!
I also have told close family and friends as since I got married almost 2 years ago,i just felt the constant pressure that people were expecting baby news at any moment so know that they know, it's helped so much and also means when I am having a grumpy day, they can offer kind words and support too as DH doesn't always know what to say or do for the best sometimes.
Hope you are all doing ok....

HonniBee · 29/07/2015 18:00

I need some help IUI buddies!

I'm feeling really really low today. The clomid is making want to just cry, or sleep for hours. Preferably both at the same time....
I'm a teacher so on holiday at the moment, which means it's easier to deal with this time round (teaching 30 teenagers like this was really tricky!)
To top it all off we're attempting to buy our first house (timing is terrible I know) and it feels like it will never ever happen. There is so much bureaucracy and bollocks to get through. It is so frustrating! And I just want to cry!!

Mamama31 · 29/07/2015 18:01

Hi ladies, I am off on my hols for a fortnight but just want to wish you all well in your treatment if it's happening while I'm away.

Also I'm not sure how to add a link, but if you type in to google Daily Mail IUI article it's from 2 days ago, there's a very interesting and optimistic article on iui. It has given me fresh hope so is worth a read.

Take care everyone, ill check in when I get back then it shouldn't be too long until I begin my first iui!!!!

Maryrose85 · 29/07/2015 18:37

Oh Honnibee, I'm sorry you're feeling so low. I was on chlomid for nine months and remember the feeling well. it's so hard to keep positive. sending you lots of hugs. I wish there was something I could say or do to make it better. xxx

karlafox · 29/07/2015 20:16

Sorry to hear you are having a bad day HonniBee. It happens to use all so don't feel alone. I have my worst days when PMT is due as a mixture of hormones and the feeling that I couldn't be any further away from being pregnant is a real depressing time but plenty of hubby cuddles and chocolate does tend to take the edge off. So try to stay positive if you can! It can only help your stress levels.

HonniBee · 30/07/2015 09:14

Thanks guys.

I had some good cuddles last night and a very long sleep. Feel a bit better this morning.

HonniBee · 03/08/2015 17:35

So we started this month's run of scans today. I had two follicles on my left, 13.5mm and 12.5mm. My right ovary was being very uncooperative and basically wasn't visible. So... Hopeful news, and if there isn't anything on my right (there was only 1 small on my right last month) then we can go ahead with IUI, probably on Friday. Excited!

Does anyone else have any more news or updates?

Maryrose85 · 03/08/2015 19:05

Oh wow that's very exciting Honnibee!! I start my next lot of injections in the last week of August. got to Starr taking northisterone on Friday. which is a period suppressant. so that they have control over my cycle. we are in the midst of moving. hoping to be in there properly by Wednesday. Smile Smile xxx

cazinge · 03/08/2015 19:11

Ooh, great news Honnibee. No news from me except waiting for AF this month (due this week) so we can start next month - the logistics really are too difficult in the next 2-3 weeks. I also need to think about how I tell work - clinic is c.1 hour from work so they will need to know something Confused

Anyone else got news?

karlafox · 03/08/2015 19:20

Hi everyone
I am also waiting for AF... Due this Friday so once it's arrived I will be straight on the phone to start the whole process of scans and injections etc. it feels so scary because if we have the IUI this time, I know I am going to be on edge the whole month expecting signs of AF ( very pessimistic I know) but we only get 3 tries and then we would have to self fund any further treatment so all hopes are pinned on it working!

HonniBee · 03/08/2015 19:45

Mary good luck with the house move!

cazinge I found telling work tricky too. I teach and when my request for cover was denied (due to lots of teachers already being out that day already) I ended up sitting my headteacher down and saying "I am undergoing fertility treatment so I have to go to all appointments whenever they tell me to" I was terrified, but it was actually fine and she was lovely! is there one person you could comfortably talk to at work?

karla will you not be entitled to try funded IVF too?

karlafox · 03/08/2015 20:08

HonniBee - no unfortunately due to the strict criteria for funding, we aren't entitled to IVF since my FSH level was high (17.8) which was a shock since my GP told me all blood tests were fine. So we will have to pay for that ourselves if it comes to it. Hubby is far more chilled than me. He says we will cross that bridge when we come to it which I know is right! But as I am sure you all know how the mind works over time!

Fingers crossed firmly for you all.

Good luck this week HonniBee

HonniBee · 05/08/2015 13:57

Today's update:
I now have two good follicles in the left (16mm and 18mm). There is also one small on the left and 3 small on the right (between 10 and 13mm).
So we are going ahead with IUI on Friday! Grin
Very excited but also a little nervous as this is the first go for us, so I don't really know what to expect! Maryrose, any hints for the actual day? And does it hurt?
