Hello ladies, I'm new here. About to have first IUI treatment the day after tomorrow. Anyone else in the same situation. This is our first go at IUI after trying on and off for about 7years. Was on chlomid for 9 months last year with no luck. So now trying IUI. Excited and scared at the same time!!

Wow you are really holding off testing, did they tell you to wait that long? I would have done it already! Lol but I'm crazy so don't listen to me!

Maryrose85 · 16/07/2015 17:24

I was told to test on the 19th and not before to avoid false negatives. Me and my husband run a stagecoach theatre school on a Sunday morning and the 19th is our last day of term and show. So I decided it would be sensible to wait until Monday morning as I'm not sure I could focus at work whatever the result. So hard to keep waiting though! I haven't bought any tests yet so I can't cave!!

You are so good! I'm impressed with your willpower! Wish I had some!!! Good for you. I hope Sunday goes well for you all and you get a lovely result on Monday then :)

Maryrose85 · 17/07/2015 14:41

Aaaargh!! Struggling today. Time seems to have slowed down even more!!! Working from home today and there is too much time for my mind to wander!

Mamama31 · 17/07/2015 14:44

That's so tough MR! Stay off google you will drive yourself insane!

Maryrose85 · 18/07/2015 09:14

I caved in and bought a test...BFN Sad heart broken.

HonniBee · 18/07/2015 10:39

But you're a bit early aren't you Maryrose? Don't give up yet! Remember they told you not to test early to avoid false negatives! Are you working this weekend?

Mamama31 · 18/07/2015 11:38

Awh MR I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so difficult going through all of the iui process as it raises hopes and then to not get the result you want at the end. But iui seems to have success over a few cycles as it really only raises your chances as similar to those who can conceive naturally and most people without any fertility concerns don't conceive on their first try either. I know that's not really going to make you feel better as you are so heartbroken but I hope that soon you can begin to get ready for another try. Please be kind to yourself over the weekend and do some nice things together and support eachother, it's just so unfair but don't give up as it could happen on another cycle it is merely down to chance and fate I believe. Big hugs x

Maryrose85 · 18/07/2015 15:33

Period has started Hmm

Maryrose85 · 18/07/2015 16:33

Thank you mamama. At the moment I can't bear the thought of going through it all again. But I just need some time. Have been at my parents today but heading home now. Planning to get into bed, eat cake and watch some Gilmore girls! Ultimate comfort!! Of course I have awful period pains just to add insult to injury!! Xx

OP posts:
Mamama31 · 19/07/2015 13:40

Awh Maryrose it's even worse coupled with af hormones and discomfort :( cake is def the answer! Gilmore girls? What's that? I hope you begin to feel better soon and I understand it's hard to even consider the next round of iui right now but you will feel a bit better once af goes and you get back to yourself a bit more. Take care and keep eating that cake ;) xx

Maryrose85 · 19/07/2015 14:58

Gilmore Girls is an American TV series and it's brilliant!! I've watched it so many times! Love it! Always makes me feel better! Feeling really rubbish today with AF. Feel very sick. ????

OP posts:
HonniBee · 19/07/2015 16:20

I'm sorry to hear that AF arrived, MaryRose! I agree with Mamama- lots of time looking after yourself is just what you need. I know what you mean about not wanting to do it all again. It can all feel so pointless when it feels like it will never work. But.. We have to keep picking ourselves up and trying again. And once we are over all of the hurt and disappointment of AF we will someho find it within ourselves to do just that. In the meantime, a little bit of comfort is just what you need.

And Gilmore girls is just perfect! Mamama it is the most amazing series! Really sucks you in. I landed up binge watching all of the seasons in a matter of weeks. Smile

Hope you feel better soon MaryRose.

For you...

Readyforthefuture · 19/07/2015 19:22

I hope you guys don't mind, I've been stalking the thread for a bit as its not that long ago I was on the last iui thread.

maryrose, I'm so sorry it hasn't worked out this time around, be kind to yourself and take the time you need before you decide what's next. You're allowed to be angry at the world Wink

honnibee, in February this year I was also told to abandon the cycle, it's devastating but you sound like your coping really well. I tried again in April, and almost had to abandon again because of over response, but we managed to push on. We were so lucky that it worked, but we have twins to show for it now, the threat of multiples feels very real now.

I wish you all the best of luck with your treatments, in my head I'm still thinking I'll be joining you for the next cycle. Flowers

Mamama31 · 19/07/2015 20:17

Maryrose I must look up Gilmore Girls, is it on tv or do I need to get box set? I'm always looking for something to get in to especially with iui coming up to take my mind off things so would love to give that a go! I hope you are feeling better soon, hot water bottle, good tv/dvds and nice treats with lots of cuddles from DH will get you through.

Ready wow! Congrats! So you are pg with twins now from iui? How many weeks? How are you feeling? Can I ask the details of your iui cycle that worked please if you don't mind? (eggs/sperm count etc)

Maryrose85 · 19/07/2015 21:32

Gilmore Girls is on DVD. Would definitely recommend it! I'm feeling much better about everything after lots of cuddles and cake and lovely messages from my friends ?? thank you for your support on here too x

Hi mamama, yes, I'm 14 weeks and still not quite believing it is happening, especially with 2!

I was 3 years exactly with undiagnosed infertility, this was my 2nd iui, after I over responded to the first round. In this second round nothing seemed to go right, i was 1mm away from a 3rd follicle being large enough to cancel the cycle, when they agreed to urgently trigger me and do the iui less than 24 hours later. I didn't think we stood a chance. I was on gonal f injections, and if I remember rightly they cut me back to 37.5 every other day I my ovaries still went nuts. Sperm count on the day was 3mill.

I think i'm starting to come out of the fog of morning sickness, but not sure yet, I think it would feel worse if I hadn't been through so much to get here.

I really do hope you ladies get your bfp, and soon. I was doing reflexology and hypnotherapy at the same time as iui, no idea if it works, but it certainly made me feel calmer. X

Mamama31 · 20/07/2015 09:07

Ready that's amazing! So pleased for you! And glad to hear the sperm count was 3mill as my DH last SA he had 10mill so I was quite worried as previous to that his results were much better. Do you know what the morphology was? (sorry I like to know every detail lol) with my DH having 10mill count they are saying we have mild male factor but morphology is also down this time but was fine in the last SA so it seems the results can be quite changeable. We probably won't start iui until Sept but it's lovely to see a success story on here. Thank you for sharing :) and I hope you can enjoy your pregnancy, I'm sure you just can't believe it but sounds like it's really happening!!!! :)

Maryrose85 · 20/07/2015 19:35

Spoke to my fertility nurse this morning and we are going straight ahead with next cycle, so should be starting around 7th September ???? eeek! And after a year and a half of living with the in laws, looks like we might be moving out soon!! Viewed a flat today. Just waiting to hear if our application has been successful! Can't help thinking the treatment stands a better chance if we are living in our own place!!!

OP posts:
Mamama31 · 20/07/2015 19:49

Maryrose that's great news! I really hope you get the flat and your own space will make such a difference to you both in lots of aspects of your lives. I hope that I'm starting iui in sept then we can support eachother if I'm up the list by then- really hoping so! Feeling ready to start as soon as we can. I'm glad to hear that you are ready for your next cycle and seem to be feeling a lot better about things :)

FraggleRock77 · 20/07/2015 20:28

Hello. Can anyone offer advice please. Me 38 DS nearly 2. Recent miscarriage. Issues conceiving in the past but just unexplained. We are planning to pay privately for IUI. How long does it take to get to the IUI point after referral? Smile

Mamama31 · 20/07/2015 22:38

Hi Fraggle. Sorry to hear about your mc, it is such a tough thing to come through. I think it depends on where you live and what clinic you choose but if you are going private they should be able to start the process at the beginning of your next cycle following consultation unless they require some tests prior to the iui. Have you had all fertility testing done before? They may require the hsg if that has not been done.

FraggleRock77 · 21/07/2015 22:36

Thank you. That's really helpful x

Readyforthefuture · 22/07/2015 13:43

Thanks mamama, I really hope it happens for you ladies too, iui can definitely work. I think until I can actually hold a baby in my arms I'll continue to feel like I'm still just ttc.

Sorry I can't remember morphology figures, but dh had sailed through 3 previous tests with no issues at all on count or morphology. We figured on the day that they had just done a really good clean in the wash process. But remember, it only takes 1 (or 2 if you fancy biting off more than you can chew)!

Keep the faith, thinking of you all x
