Hello ladies, I'm new here. About to have first IUI treatment the day after tomorrow. Anyone else in the same situation. This is our first go at IUI after trying on and off for about 7years. Was on chlomid for 9 months last year with no luck. So now trying IUI. Excited and scared at the same time!!

So sorry to hear that cazinge :( Flowers having a month off over here too. At the moment I think we will try again in December but I might change my mind nearer the time. dh thinks it's silly not to at least try with the IUI but he doesn't quite seem to get it when I try and explain that I just find it so invasive and for want of a better term 'icky'! lol

Nor sure if anyone is still watching but I'm out. AF arrived today so I didn't even make it to rest day. Absolutely gutted. Have requested camembert & wine for dinner tomorrow. Definitely won't be doing November, possibly December but not sure I can cope with the 2ww over Christmas & New Year.

Sorry to hear that lr77 :( I tested yesterday bfn as well - AF not due for a couple of days but can feel it's on the way. Think we will be paying for IVF in the new year also.

Hi maryrose - a break sounds good. Think I might do that over Christmas - the stress is just getting too much and want to enjoy Christmas with my DS without having all this at the back of my mind (not that it ever really goes away!)

Hi ladies,

It hasn't worked. That's IUI for me, 2 BFN.

Now I have just one chance to IVF, no pressure. Probably we'll live it for after Christmas too.

Good luck to you all

Hello again ladies, just been catching up on all your posts. Thinking positive thoughts for you all. Our second attempt didn't work. So we are taking a break now until after Christmas. Don't think my body can take the stress again at the moment! Hour to see some positive news on here soon. Xx

I've had the trigger shot before when we were trying just folicle tracking and I tested that month to see, I got a faint positive on day 8 very very faint day 9 and totally gone day 10 so assuming on that basis day 13 should be fine. I feel the same as I always do when AF is on its way so not holding out much hope. I have a 4 year old DS and with him I had no symptoms until after AF was late so now when I have symptoms before AF is due I tend to figure it's a failure (not been wrong yet in the last 27 months of trying!!)

Sorry to hear it was uncomfortable for you :( good luck for your 2ww - what fertility issues do you have if you don't mind me asking? So far, with us the only thing flagged up had been a low count for DH. I think the only test left for me to have is a laparoscopy which I have been offered after 3 months of IUI if it hasn't worked.

Hi closephine 13 days should be pretty accurate, they say it takes 10-14 days for the trigger hormone to leave your body, depending how quickly you metabolise it but it depends if you will believe it if positive and can cope with the disappointment if it is the remnants of the trigger.

Am officially with you on the 2ww now. IF I wasn't great, my cervix wasn't cooperating so it took ages and was a bit painful. The nurse has recommended I have it done with my legs in stirrups next time (lovely!) but not obviously I hope there isn't a next time!

LR77 - are you okay?

How are you getting on lr77 have you retested?

Good luck for today cazinge! It's not too bad, I just tried to zone out a bit. I found the weirdest part being left to lie on the bed afterwards :s

I almost caved and tested this morning but managed to talk myself down - I would likely have got a false positive from the trigger and for my hopes up. I'm thinking I might test on Monday though.... It would be 13 days past trigger and 12 days post IUI - what do you think ladies?! Should be a pretty definitive result by then...?

cazinge · 22/10/2015 22:33

You both sound like you're doing so well, hope you get the right result tomorrow lr77 & keep hoping closephine

Am now feeling v nervous about insemination tomorrow. It all suddenly feels v real. Will post when I'm joining you on the 2ww.

Lr77 fingers crossed for you! Are you on day 14? Any symptoms or signs of AF?! Sounds like it could go either way at the moment but really hope it's the right way :)

No symptoms at all here yet, only on day 8 so a bit early for anything I suppose. I can usually tell by about day 11 that AF is on its way so not too long to wait now. After feeling completely convinced it wouldn't work this month I know have that annoying 'what if' voice in the back of my head Sad

purpleElla Thanks for passing by! It's really encouraging to read succes stories!

Cazinge My follies do the same, they take forever to reach certain size and then all the sudden they are ready to pop! Good luck tomorrow! Star

Closephine85 Lots of Ommmmms your way.

Girls, I couldn't resist it any longer and I've tested this morning, negative, but when I went downstairs with better light I saw the fantiest of the shadow where the test line it's suposed to be. It was well passed the 10 minutes, so probably an evap line. I had them before with the internet cheapies, but it made me think "what if". So i'll have to keep waiting.

Hi purpleella that is great to hear! ThNk you for sharing :) I posted another thread a little while ago asking if anyone had had success with natural IUI and didn't get a single response so my heart had sunk a little.

If you do t mind sharing, could I ask what your fertility issues were?

I think I am turning into a bit of a nightmare patient! I question every single thing the hospital do... I'm one of those people who needs to know EVERYTHING.

Cazinge - no, there will always be that tiny thread of hope until AF arrives. 2 weeks is such a long time!!

Hi, just stumbled across this post on active threads and wondered if I could offer some inspiration. I have three children aged 4,6 and 8 and each one of them was conceived at my local fertility clinic, on a natural cycle of IUI using ovulation sticks to decide on timing.

Reading your posts brings back the stress of the timing, wondering whether docs knew what they were doing when I got my IUI two full days after positive opk etc. I must have been a nightmare to deal with. We were ttc for five years before this worked for us.

Hope my story gives you some hope.

closephine don't loose hope yet Smile

So, follicle update...It was 17.2mm (!) & lining was 10.something so I am triggering tonight & insemination is booked for lunchtime Friday Shock. Think everyone (me included) was surprised how much it had grown, I have been putting a hot water bottle on my stomach after something I read on another forum and drinking 2-3 litres of water (no other liquids) daily but who knows if any of it helps?!

How's everyone else? lr77 - good luck fro Friday x

closephine85 Progesterone is the hormone that supports pregnancy. If you have normal levels you don't need to take extra. I'm not taking it either.

Report
closephine85 · 20/10/2015 11:27

Lr77 those twinges on day 7 do sound encouraging :) good luck! Will you be testing Friday? No I'm not on progesterone, other than the trigger shot of Ovitrelle I'm on a natural cycle - the Drs think I'm at high risk of ohss so wouldn't let me have the drugs! What does the progesterone do? If my levels are normal is it something that could help?

If your IUI doesn't work this time, could you ask for ultrasounds to track your cycle? Then you'd know for sure. Alternatively, some of the clearblue sticks will give you a smiley face rather than a line so you wouldn't have to decifer how dark it was.

Cazinge- weirdly I am the most relaxed in my 2ww than I have been for a long time. Although I think this may be down to DHs low sperm count rather than the IUI itself. At least I know where we are at and that short of a miracle success is pretty unlikely :(

Ir77 · 20/10/2015 10:14

Thanks girls!

The problem is that once I read on Dr.Google that [quote] washed sperm can live 24-72 hours; however, it does lose potency after 24 hours. Another issue with IUI is that the sperm can keep on swimming beyond the fallopian tube, so the ideal window is really within 6-12 hours of the egg being released [quote] since it hasn't been swimming in CM.

Anyway, we'll know something around FridaySmile After all I had my first IUI the day after the surge and it didn't work either.

closephine85 You will be 7 dpiui tomorrow, don't you? My 7 dpiui I felt all sorts of needles and twinges, very encouraging, but I haven't felt anything since... Are you on progesterone?

Cazinge Good luck tomorrow with that follie!

I'm so jealous of you guys! I wanted a trigger shot too not an opk. I hate them, I can't never tell if the line is as dark or less dark Angry

Report
cazinge · 19/10/2015 21:34

Lr77 as closephine has said, much better for sperm to be hanging around waiting for egg than vice versa.

closephine - Yes, 1st IUI and so far I'm not finding it too bad, some headaches and slight bruising with the injections but nothing much. Good luck with your 2ww - I am dreading that bit!

Report
closephine85 · 19/10/2015 19:33

Lr77 don't let them make you doubt yourself - it probably was done slightly earlier as they probably don't do it on a Saturday (I know my hospital don't) but if you've had a positive on an opk then I'm sure it was probably done around the right time. It's best to have the sperm there waiting for the egg to be released as it can survive up to 6 days whereas the egg only about 24 hours. Good luck :) I'm on day 5 of the 2ww but DHs sperm count was very low so I've pretty much written off our chances!

Good luck to you cazinge, is this your first cycle of IUI?

Hello all, I am also in the middle of a cycle. Today is CD11 & Day 10 on 75iu of Menopur daily.

Had first follicle scan Saturday and nothing much was happening follicle-wise although lining was 6.5mm (from 4mm on CD2). Went back today and largest follicle is now 12.5mm plus lots of smaller ones & lining is 7.8mm Grin

Back Wednesday to see whether I'll be ready to trigger, but they have given me enough Menopur for Friday just in case.

Hi everyone,

On the 9th of this month I had my IUI, taking only Clomid 50mg. The clinic gave me opk to pinpoint the LH surge.

I was convinced that they said to phone them the day of the +opk to schedule the IUI for the day after, but when I phoned they scheduled it for the same day, it was a Friday.

Now I don't know if they scheduled the IUI the same day because it was more convenient for them to do it on a Friday than a Saturday or that maybe I misunderstood them. English it's not my first language, but I've been here for ever living with an English person, I don't usually have problems understanding people, but now they make me doubt Confused

Anyway, sorry about the rant. Anyone has had IUI without any trigger shot? What do you think ladies, IUI before or after the LH surge?

Not sure if anyone is still around on this thread but we had our first round of IUI on Wednesday. I feel a little deflated as DHs count was 4 million post wash. Everything I read seems to suggest that between 5-10 is the minimum really that will work and anything above 10 ideal. Anyone have any experience of falling pregnant with a count under 5 million?!

Karla I think I read on another thread that you will also be in the 2ww now, how's it going?!
