Hello ladies, I'm new here. About to have first IUI treatment the day after tomorrow. Anyone else in the same situation. This is our first go at IUI after trying on and off for about 7years. Was on chlomid for 9 months last year with no luck. So now trying IUI. Excited and scared at the same time!!

ha! That's what my DH said it must stand for!! I hope you don't have to abandon this cycle honnibee. I know how hard that is. we were due to start our first cycle back in Feb but had to abandon two days before my first injection as I was having heart palpitations and the nurse said i needed to have them fully investigated before we could continue. I had lots of tests and ECGs and basically I have ectopic heartbeats probably bought on by stress!! I have about 5,000 extra heartbeats a day! I'm still getting them constantly but as there was no underlying condition I was able to restart the treatment. I was devastated tho in Feb when we were told to abandon the cycle, and it has felt like a very long wait to start again!! fingers crossed for you though xx

Ah Honnibee that's what I dread, seems like responding too well to the meds is common and the first try is a bit of a guessing game with what dose to give you. That's disappointing for you, I hope by Friday things settle and you can go ahead with the iui. It must be so hard knowing also that with all those follicles you are the most fertile you have ever been. I get the risk of multiples but can't help but think how hard it has been to get pregnant at all, so not taking the chance would be difficult! It's a bit of an ethical dilemma....whether to try yourself with DH or not. I'd struggle with that anyway, maybe your more rational than me! Haha!

Mamama31 · 08/07/2015 19:14

MR your DH was exactly right!!! What a darling husband he must be! Ha!

HonniBee · 08/07/2015 20:06

Thanks, guys. Hopefully some of the follicles will stop growing (the doc said they can regress too! Who knew?!) and we'll know more on Friday.
She also said absolutely no sexual intercourse until we know what's happening. I guess we could have a bash ourselves anyway, but the multiples are a bit scary.
Maryrose, that must have been very difficult to deal with waiting from feb until now to start treatment!

Mamama31 · 09/07/2015 15:29

Fingers crossed Honnibee that it settles by Friday. What is the most follicles they will go ahead with the iui? Our documentation seems to say that ours would be cancelled if there are 3 or more follicles but some other clinics seem to go ahead with 3 being the maximum. Success rates also seem higher if there are 2 or 3 follicles. I'd probably have a bash ourselves but yes multiples sounds scary! But not getting pregnant is also scary! Just have to do what you feel is right. If it's taken me so long to get pregnant, I would doubt that all 3/4 eggs would get fertilised! But anything is possible, would def be a gamble.

Mamama31 · 09/07/2015 19:50

Oh friday is tomorrow! Best of luck Honnibee! Let us know how it goes.

Maryrose85 · 09/07/2015 20:09

Yes fingers crossed for you! I am now 6 days post IUI and the wait is agonising!! have very sore boobs and some spotting today but otherwise nothing going on!!

Mamama31 · 09/07/2015 22:12

MR awh I'm sure it is just excruciating waiting! Try to distract yourself over the wkend then it won't be long until you find out. Are you on progesterone? Is that what's causing sore boobs? Do you usually have spotting or did they say you would? I suppose there's no way of knowing really how you would respond to the treatment. Hope it flys in for you and you get a pos result!!!

Maryrose85 · 09/07/2015 22:17

I amon progesterone and they it can cause pregnancy like symptoms, such as sore boobs. I do normally spot in the week leading up to my period but they also said to expect some spotting. so there is no way of knowing what is causing any of it!! just have to wait!! have a hen do at the weekend so hopefully that will distract me!

Mamama31 · 09/07/2015 23:18

MR that's great you have something to distract you. I hope you have a fun time!

HonniBee · 10/07/2015 14:16

Second scan all done, and we've been told to abandon this cycle (why do they say abandon? It seems so negative and makes me think I'm abandoning a child! Sad
I have too many follicles so too high a risk of multiples. 3 above 16mm and one about 13mm on the left, one about 13mm on the right. Sex ban in place for this month. I'm tempted to ignore it and just have a go, but the chances of triplets or even quads terrifies me.
I'm really really gutted. The wait for next month is going to be torture. But maybe we can be cycle buddies Mamama if your referral comes through in time. Mary, hopefully you'll get a positive shortly so you won't have to join us.
Ah, hen do sounds like an excellent distraction! I'm off to London for a weekend this afternoon so hoping to be distracted there.

Maryrose85 · 10/07/2015 14:51

so sorry to hear about your scan. it's such a long and frustrating process! At least hopefully now they can get the dosage right for next cycle. have a lovely time in London. x

Awh Honnibee that is just shit!!! I'm sure you are quite annoyed about it all, I know I would be but I think I'd be irresponsible and have maybe one wee go myself! Lol leave it to fate! (not reccomending this in any way) hope you are ok, that's disappointing for you. But of course we could be cycle buddies, I think mine won't come up until end of summer though so you may be having another go before I'm up the waiting list! Here to support anyway and chat through it all.

MR have fun on the hen! Hope it takes your mind off things and that your keeping ok.

Maryrose85 · 10/07/2015 22:00

feeling a bit low this evening. Probably just the hormones messing with me!! I've had some bleeding today which I was told to expect, but can't help thinking it just feels like the spotting I normally get a week before period starts. it's so hard to keep thinking positively!!

Mamama31 · 11/07/2015 12:24

MR that's understandable you feel that way, it's such a long wait to find out. So hoping it works out for you. Big hugs!

HonniBee · 11/07/2015 13:39

Thanks for your support, guys.
I'm sorry you're feeling low, maryrose. It's a tough time and the ups and downs can be pretty intense! Does anyone at the hen know you're waiting? I find it can be pretty lonely when you're surrounded by people that don't know about it.

Maryrose85 · 11/07/2015 14:25

Yes a couple of my friends there know, so that's good. I've ended up telling a lot of people about what we are going through as it's easier that way!

OP posts:
Mamama31 · 11/07/2015 15:10

MR I'm glad you have friends there to support you. It's just so tough trying to do the usual things in life and carrying on as normal when actually you are going through a lot of emotions. Make sure to take all the support and chats with friends as you need. X

Mamama31 · 14/07/2015 17:26

Maryrose just wondering how you are doing? Are you testing soon?

HonniBee · 14/07/2015 18:36

I was just coming online to ask the same thing! How are you doing?

Maryrose85 · 16/07/2015 10:10

Hey, sorry was being a bridesmaid yesterday so only just seen your messages! I'm testing on Monday, still seems so far away!! I'm not feeling all that hopeful as I'm having all the usual signs that AF is on its way. Nothing feels different to any other month. But I guess I just have to wait and see! The wedding was a good distraction yesterday! Just have to hang in there for a few more days!!

OP posts:
Mamama31 · 16/07/2015 10:46

Awh MR I thought you were closer to test day! Seems such a long wait for you. Are you still spotting? I think pg symptoms are similar to af symptoms anyway so it's hard to tell really. Af is on the way for me at the minute, feeling hormonal and agitated with spotting so it will probably come tomorrow. Oh to be a man!

Maryrose85 · 16/07/2015 11:36

Spotting seems to have stopped now. Lasted a couple of days. Boobs were really sore but they are fine now. So who knows what's going on! It's so hard to just ignore it all and wait though. And Google is such a dangerous place!! I'm just feeling nothing at the moment! No cramps, no spotting, not hormonal! Just impatient!!

OP posts:
Mamama31 · 16/07/2015 11:52

How many days past iui are you? I know what you mean about google, I try not to read it but I get so consumed by it all I can't help myself! There's also not to much recent info relating to iui, all seems geared towards ivf so it's hard to even find recent, relevant stats on anything! I feel so much for you, this wait must be agonising! Try to keep busy!

Maryrose85 · 16/07/2015 12:02

13 days passed iui...and counting!!
