Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Good to hear you have two embryos on board DarkChoc!

Good luck lucie with your transfer tomorrow, it's all sounding very positive and so good to hear how pleased you are with the clinic.

Warrior sorry to hear your natural attempt didn't work. I'm not holding out much hope for mine but that means I'm not worrying about what I'm eating/drinking/doing which has is refreshingly different. Good to hear you can count down the days to your transfer now. Exciting!!

House move went well although there is much more to do than we had thought. And today the key to the patio door snapped in the lock, can't believe it! We've only been in 6 nights! And Sod's law DH is away for work. I hope it's easy for a locksmith to fix tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for some more positive results in the next few weeks ladies!

warriorbot · 23/04/2015 21:26

Oh Badger - I'm sorry that this cycle seems unlikely. Fwiw, we snapped a key off in the conservatory door shortly after moving in here but the handle unit (with lock) was easily replaced. Hope yours is the same!

Well I am back from the clinic! We had 2 blastocysts transferred! One fully hatched and one hatching she said they looked of good quality. Unfortunately none of the other 4 were suitable for freezing so we are relying on these two. We had our report on dhs sperm sample and after almost 9 months of vitamins and supplements they had got no better at all which I think he was a little disappointed about. She told him we had really good fertilisation rates with the Icsi though which made him feel a little better I think. So this is it the 2ww begins! Praying it works!

Crossing everything for you Lucie!

Quick question for anyone who has done a frozen blastocyst transfer: do the embryologists "grow them on" before transfer? When we had to abandon the cycle, ours were frozen at stage 3 expansion but we know we have a better chance if they grow to stage 4 or 5...

warriorbot · 29/04/2015 13:38

How's everyone doing? I had my day 8 scan today. Things coming along nicely. Will probably ovulate in the next week (sometime!) then it's count four days til the transfer. I must say, natural cycle for the FTET feels so much easier than anything we've done so far...

BadgerFace · 30/04/2015 16:01

Good to hear you have two on board lucie, I hope they are snuggling in well. Sorry to hear your DH's results hasn't improved but when they are putting them in with the eggs all you need is a few strong swimmers!

Good to hear things are going well warrior. Out of interest, what made you decide on a natural FET rather than a medicated? Do you have fairly regular cycles? I thought it would be too difficult to track for me as my cycles are anything between 32 and 38 days. Speaking of which, I am on day 38 today of my cycle. Can't help but be a bit hopeful for that natural miracle but also don't want to POAS as I am 99% certain that I am just having a long cycle after the failed FET bleed last month and don't want to waste the money on the pregnancy test when I'm just bound to start bleeding later today/tomorrow!

I have my follow up appointment tomorrow after waiting nearly 7 weeks for it. They called today to cancel due to an emergency and offered me 13 May which was no good as I have a big work meeting that day. They then managed to squeeze me in at 1.30pm tomorrow. Apparently I am seeing the big cheese Mike Savaas. DH can't make it but I don't think that matters. I haven't told the clinic anyway!!

warrior did you find out whether they grow frozen embryos on? My guess would be maybe not as they only defrost one or two at once and so maybe wouldn't want to risk them arresting. I could easily be wrong though!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello Badger! Sorry your cycle is taunting you... Would be awesome if you had managed on your own though...

My cycles are super regular and my clinic are great about monitoring me. Currently daily scans and blood test for LH. Dominant follicle is 21 mm - I reckon I've at least two days to go.

No clear news on growing on but I'm worried about arresting too, and also some studies that suggest a correlation between extended culturing and low birth weight. I'm just going to hope that little Beta swells up nicely after the thaw and looks like it's in good shape. Probably be transferring Friday or Saturday if I'm regular.

Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. Good to see you online!

BadgerFace · 01/05/2015 07:08

Um, it turns out that natural miracles do happen. Day 39 today so I thought I'd better test. Turns out I am pregnant! Wow. Feel a bit bad about all the booze and soft cheese over the last few weeks... I was due to give everything up again today in preparation for the next cycle! Obviously still a long way to go but wow.

I will still hang around on the thread cheering you all on if there are no objections. I am so, so wishing miracles to each of you as well.

kazcal · 01/05/2015 09:22

Badger thats great news!!!, congrats & fingers crossed.
So ive not been on here for a while, my 1st ivf (icsi) was a success & got pregnant 1st time round made it to 4 wks & lost Sad Devastated. Was back at clinic yest to discuss things & booked in again for 18th to go through drugs again & give it another go. So im hanging in there & will keep trying also for the natural miracle!! xx

warriorbot · 01/05/2015 15:11

FUCK ME!!!! Badger - that's BRILLIANT!!!! So, so, SO thrilled for you! Crossing everything.

Kaz - I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your first pregnancy. Wishing you lots of love and support for the next round. Flowers

Fucking hell, though, Badger's proof that miracles do happen... Please stay with us. You're our lucky mascot!

BadgerFace · 01/05/2015 15:42

Kaz Sorry to hear that, although I hope you are taking the positives from the first round too that you know they can implant! Good luck for the next round and don't discount the natural miracle!

Thanks warrior Grin The consultant at my FET debrief today was very excited for me and very kindly booked me in for a week scan even though it isn't techinically one of their cycles, what a lovely man! I can't believe how lucky I am, so counting down to hopefully seeing a heartbeat now in two weeks. So pleased that I don't have to just wait until a 12 week scan which is what would otherwise have happened.

warriorbot · 06/05/2015 08:42

When's your scan, Badger? Crossing everything!

After 7 days of scans...I've ovulated! At last! Though the clinic staff are being super supportive. FTET is scheduled for Saturday. Met the embryologist yesterday and told him which of the two blasts we want to try first... Crinone gels again (joy!) Here we go... /crosses everything

BadgerFace · 06/05/2015 10:49

Hurray, well done warrior! Roll on Saturday and snuggly embryos!!

My scan is next Friday - this seems to be the longest two weeks of my life, going my soooooooooo slooooooooooooowly...

How's everyone else getting on?

Do you test this weekend lucie?

DarkChoc you must be testing soon too?

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you both and everyone else on our thread.

One on board! Crossing everything. They don't want me to test for 16 days!!! That's a good 6 days after my period would be due. I think I'll crack before then...

How's everyone today?

BadgerFace · 09/05/2015 20:02

Yeah! Well done warrior! I'm so excited for you! 16 days seems a long time, I thought it was usually 16 days from egg collection in a fresh cycle so 13 or 11 days depending if you've got a day 3 embryo or a 5 day blasto for an FET.

I did another digital test today just to check things were progressing and I'm now 4-5 weeks according to that so fingers crossed!

P.s. Just noticed my last message posted 3 times, sorry! Blush

warriorbot · 11/05/2015 07:46

I don't feel remotely different (other than sore-of-cervix). Physically anyway. Mentally I'm obsessing.

/tries to calm the hell down

Badger - that's great news from the clear blue tests. Ain't technology grand! Crossing everything for your scan.

warriorbot · 14/05/2015 11:23

Best of luck for the scan tomorrow, Badger!

BadgerFace · 14/05/2015 18:10

Thanks warrior! I hope your cervix is feeling less sore now! Did you speak to the clinic about your test date?

warriorbot · 14/05/2015 21:43

I did - they really do want me to wait that long! Shock

BadgerFace · 15/05/2015 06:40

Wowsers! The longest 2WW in history! Wishing you patience and some fun activities to make the time pass quickly...

warriorbot · 16/05/2015 11:31

How did it go yesterday, Badger?

BadgerFace · 16/05/2015 12:26

No heartbeat but the doctor seemed confident that was because it was too early. The sac and fetal pole all looked good and proportional sizes so a healthy pregnancy so far apparently. I've been booked in for next Friday for another scan so just more waiting and crossed fingers! I knew it was a possibility it was too early so not too disappointed although it's a bit annoying... Still, it helps me date things if nothing else!

warriorbot · 16/05/2015 16:39

Oooh, that's exciting! Here's hoping for some cardiac action next week!
