Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Hi all

I was on this thread at the start of the year (under a different username) until my journey came to a halt due to OHSS Sad

We were fortunate enough to have four beautiful embryos frozen in that cycle and were advised it would be 3 months to wait for a FET. Thankfully we haven't had to wait quite so long and I started my FET drugs protocol in April. We are having our first embryo transferred this Thursday!

I am excited, terrified, and enjoying (not!) inserting wax progesterone twice a day... Blush

This thread has progressed quite a lot since my departure and I will have to go back and catch up with everything that has happened - I haven't felt able to keep up with it in the meantime but now I'm so close to the transfer I am just about sane again... Sort of.

Good luck to all. This is a hard road we're on Thanks

Cheesypop · 17/05/2015 09:19

OMG badger! Just caught with the thread that is absolutely wonderful! Grin

lucieloos · 17/05/2015 22:56

Badger congratulations that is amazing news!! Unfortunately our first cycle didn't work. We were devastated but coming to terms with it a little now and hoping to go again in July. It's knocked me a lot though and I just don't believe it will happen now.

Hugs for Lucie - I'm feeling somewhat similar. Still in the TWW but feeling like my period is coming soon. It really does feel like such a faint thread of hope...

/solidarity hugs

BadgerFace · 18/05/2015 14:03

Oh Lucie I'm sorry to hear that. Good to hear that you have plans to go again in July. Will you go with the same clinic? It sounded from your posts as though you had a very good cycle there.

Cheesypop Good to have you back. I hope you've found the FET protocol not too bad. Good luck for Thursday!! Exciting!!

Warrior Keep positive until faced with indisputable evidence. You never know.

I had a tiny bit of spotting yesterday morning which freaked me out a bit. Fingers crossed it's not a sign of anything to come but the knicker checking anxiety has stepped up a notch!

How are you Kaz? Hope today's appointment went well.

lucieloos · 18/05/2015 15:29

Thanks warrior and badger. Yes I'm going to stick with the same clinic this time and will probably switch to another in prague after that. They are changing my stimms this time from all
Menopur to a mix of Menopur and Gonal f so not sure if that will make any difference. They have also agreed for me to try some immune meds even though I haven't had the testing so am going to be on prednisone and clexane as well. I am going to ask if I can have gestone progesterone shots rather than crinone as well as I have a short luteal phase anyway and started bleeding 3 days before OTD so just want to make sure I'm absorbing the progesterone properly. Hopefully they will say yes.

It's so hard though, if only I knew it would work at some point I wouldn't mind but the not knowing is a killer.

I think a little bit of bleeding is quite normal in early pregnancy badger so hopefully it doesn't mean anything but I can imagine it must be worrying to see,

Heigh-ho, back on the Pill to gear up for round 2 - probably it'll be sometime in late June or early July, depending on what dates the clinic come back with. Meanwhile I'm taking the chance to knock off a few pounds and get my carb/protein balance looking a bit better...

warriorbot · 18/05/2015 16:25

Well done to you both for getting back on the horse. Or back in the stirrups at least. Wishing you lots of luck xxx

BadgerFace · 20/05/2015 10:57

It sounds like they have lots of ideas for the next cycle lucie which is vey encouraging. I think that there so many variations of what they can do that it can take time to find the best mix for each person. I am sure that they will be flexible for your request for a different progesterone intake option. Are you sure you don't want the leaking wax bullets? Wink

Hello again Persipan. Hope you are doing okay. We'll be here with you again through June and July. It sounds like you are making positive changes in the interim!

How are you feeling warrior? A week and a half down at least on your 2.5ww... Keep clutching that thread of hope until absolutely proven otherwise. Don't Stop Believing

lucieloos · 20/05/2015 15:05

Thanks badger, they have now agreed for me to have the progesterone injections which is good. They have also said I will be on 150iu Menopur and 100iu Gonal-F. We did ok last time I think. We had 7 collected, 6 mature, all 6 fertilised and made it to 6-9 cells on day 3 but by day 5 we only had 2 left. One was hatching and one had already fully hatched. All that was left was for them to implant but sadly it wasn't to be. They were both grade 2s so had a little fragmentation but she said they were still good quality and would have been suitable for freezing. Just hope it works next time.

Thank you, Badger xxx

Cheesypop · 21/05/2015 19:20

Sorry Lucie. Flowers

It ain't over till it's over warrier!

Well after today's FET I now have a 5AA embryo safely on board. Today could not have gone better. Everything was perfect, our emby thawed and went from 4AA to 5AA, and my womb lining was nice and thick. We even got a photo of the embryo inside my womb! Even if it doesn't work out, today was a wonderful experience and as far as I am concerned I am pregnant until proved otherwise! Smile

BadgerFace · 21/05/2015 20:24

Well done Cheesy! So pleased to hear it went well and what a top notch little embryo you have on board!

warriorbot · 22/05/2015 10:28

Yay!!!! Good for you (and 5AA) Cheesy :D

Badger - are you scanning again soon?

Persipan · 22/05/2015 11:08

My clinic have decided they're keeping me on the Pill until the end of June, so my actual retrieval/transfer won't be until mid July. On the one hand that seems like aaaages; on the other, though, I can drop a few more pounds in the meantime and generally get sorted, so there's that.

warriorbot · 22/05/2015 12:41

Oh blimey, Persipan - that must be testing your patience! Hang n there!

BadgerFace · 22/05/2015 17:27

We had our scan this afternoon and after a lot of furtling about, and me assuming that was game over as it was taking so long, they finally found a heartbeat!! I still can't quite believe it. Blimey.

warriorbot · 22/05/2015 17:34

So...that's a negative 13dp5dt using an early response test...

Bum.

warriorbot · 22/05/2015 17:35

Oh Badger - that's such good news!!! The furtling must have been so unnerving. I'm thrilled for you.

BadgerFace · 22/05/2015 18:06

Oh warrior I am sorry to hear that. Hope you are okay. Big hug. Xx

lucieloos · 22/05/2015 18:08

Oh warrior I'm so sorry I know how hard it is. Big hugs to you. What is the next step?

Badger, yay for your scan. Must have been very exciting and lovely to hear heartbeat.

OP posts:
Persipan · 22/05/2015 20:43

That's great news, Badger

warrior, I'm so sorry to hear that. Bum, indeed.

Cheesypop · 26/05/2015 08:17

warrior and badger thank you both! Warrior I'm sorry to hear about your BFN. Flowers that's really rubbish.

Since I'm hopelessly impatient, I've been testing Blush and today (5dp5dt) I'm fairly sure I got the teeny weenies hint of a BFP! It's faint as anything but it's there, even DH said he could see it. I've tried photographing it but it doesn't really show up in the photo... I'm not celebrating yet - it's way too faint to rely on and in any event it's a long road ahead but I had to tell someone! Grin I shall update in the coming days if it gets darker/lighter and our blood test is on Saturday so we'll know for certain then anyway.

BadgerFace · 26/05/2015 13:03

Wow, Cheesy, all looking good! Please don't get worried if the line doesn't get darker every day though as I've read on other threads that's not usually an issue! Roll on Saturday and OTD!!

Cheesypop · 27/05/2015 07:26

Thanks Badger I did an FRER this morning and it is as clear as day, BFP. Smile I don't feel elated like I thought I would, just worried! But it means that whatever may or may not happen now, at least our little freezerbaby defrosted and implanted and that's pretty amazing!

As always I'm thinking of everyone Flowers
