The old thread which was so popular has become full so thought we'd start one here again for us all to support one another through the clomid journey and celebrate it's successes xx

I'm only on to my second day of chlomid and the emotions are starting already......my boyfriend left for work at 6.30 yesterday morning, got back home at 11.45 last night then back out again at 6.30. God knows what time he will be in tonight but I am so so emotional and feel like crying I am missing him that much! This is the longest we've spent away from each other......probably sounds cheesey but I feel lost without him! (get a grip Kerry) lol xxx

Just like the other ladies have already mentioned CountryCob, I too have felt it most keenly with my emotions. I think given the situation we're likely to feel a bit emotional anyway but Clomid had me feeling pretty low at times, depths of despair stuff and all my family / friends have noticed I have a bit of a short fuse. I just remind myself it is temporary. Physically I've had lower back / abdominal pain. I guess that's the ovaries ;) I think it effects women in different ways. Have any of you noticed if you're dry down below during intercourse? Sorry if it's tmi but I've just started noticing it a little, although that could be due to the marathon over the weekend.

KerryLou, you poor thing, it's hard not to miss them and I think you're just a bit disappointed after not falling last month and now dealing with the hormones of your new cycle. My hubby is military so I know how it feels when they're away long hours.

Had my blood test (day 21) yesterday so hoping it's good news on Thurs to confirm I ovulated.

Do you gals find it normal to have sore boobs a few days after ovulation? Xx

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a while, but only posted a couple of times up until now. I'm on my 4th cycle of Clomid - up to 100 mg(?) this time. I haven't really had many side effects (apart from sore boobs, even during the month I had off in the summer). It worries me slightly, in case that means it isn't working! Day 12 at the moment, so fingers crossed the higher dose works. Good luck everyone.

Hi all, I'm another long time lurker!!

I will give you a quick summary of my back story......

Me 29 dh 35, ttc for two and half years. One ds. I have pcos.

I am currently on round 4 of clomid 100mg and metformin 1500mg. I'm cd 12 today. I don't really have many symptoms either, a few hot flushes and some ovary pain but that's it, I'm not sure whether that is good or bad. I would prefer more symptoms in a way as it would feel like it is working.

I had two chemical pregnancies on clomid back a few months ago, then I was put on femara but that dd not make me ovulate at all.

I am terrified that I will not ovulate on it thus time round, even though I ovulated every time before but after the failure with femara I have it in my head it won't work.

Also I ovulated at totally different times before, cd18, cd14 and cd11. So I'm thinking oh god I'm cd12 today why have I not ovulated yet.

Ok I think I will shut up now I'm rambling...Blush

Thanks for the comments, I'm trying to focus on the fact that the clomid obviously does make me ovulate and therefore, fingers crossed, will do again!!

With regards to how draining emotionally it all is, I had accupuncture on my second cycle and really think that made all the difference, even by just making me feel like I was doing all I could to help the clomid along x

Hi Ditsydonkey

I have PCOS like you but ovulate naturally, 1500mg of metformin is alot I am on 500mg have been for the past 10 years, my specialist is trying me on 2 cycles of clomid (hoping that I will produce more eggs) while we decide about going forward with IVF (got unexplained infertility) as along with preparing yourself metally etc for it we have got to pay so have to work that out too.

I couldn't agree with you more about the lack of symptoms, all I have had is terrible hot flushes and feeling depressed and emotional, when you read of other symptoms it makes you wonder if it actually doing anything!

I wish you lots of luck with your fourth round of clomid.

Thanks Countrycob I feel alot more sane! My poor fiance hasn't known what to do with me the weeks I have been on the clomid! Crazy woman!

So I know just how you have felt Kerrylou you are completely irrational whilst taking it, its only once you have finished it after a week or so you look back and think what?!?!

Hi angroga

Are you n overweight pcoser? I am unfortunately, which I think is why I am on such a high dose of metformin. I'm afraid that if the clomid doesn't work this time I will be heading towards ivf....which us a scary and costly process.

I had some more painful ovary pain last night, so I'm hoping that I possibly ovulated, as I'm not feeling much today but who knows. I will have to wait to get my day21 bloods to know for certain...which I'm dreading!

anroga · 03/10/2013 11:41

Yes I am slightly overweight, my weight has gone down over the years with the metformin but I could always do with loosing more I am a typical PCOSER I carry all my weight round my stomach, thighs and bottom! I was on 1000mg twice a day at one point but it played havoc with my stomach, was constantly dashing for the toilet! (Sorry if thats too much information!)

How long have you been on the metformin? As when I was diagnosed 10 years ago I have no periods or ovulation then about 6-7 years ago my periods started then when we started trying nearly 3 years ago that is when I found out I was actually ovulating naturally, I couldnt believe it! That was purely down to constantly taking the metformin.

In feel the same about IVF.

I can only imagine how nerve racking it is to have to wait to get your blood results to see if you have ovulated, I have my fingers crossed for you xxxx

I'm on metformin round 5 months now....and omg I hear you on the dashing to the toilet, it is incredibly hard on the stomach, I'm a teacher and I had to leave my class unattended fir a quick dash to the loo Blush
But it has settled down now.

I don't seem to ovulate on my own, but my weight doesn't exactly help things either. Pcos is a bitch really, it makes me feel less of a woman as it is everything you don't want as a woman....excess hair, weight, infertility etc.

Fingers crossed for us all....it is great here, all the success stories give me something to hold on to!

Oh so early days for you then, give it time and it might get your ovulation going like it did for me - terrible isn't it, I find taking it after lunch and after dinner helps and when I was really bad with it I took it with a glass of milk.

PCOS is a bitch I agree totally, the excess hair, weight and on top of that infertility. I found my excess hair started to become less when I started on the metformin so again you might find this after a bit longer of taking it, on top of that waxing has been my god send especially with my lip!

Its nice to chat to someone that knows what having PCOS is like and like you I have found this website a real comfort chatting to girls who have fertility problems like me.

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. I'm onto my last day of taking chlomid tomorrow, so fingers crossed this month. My period/irrational temper hasn't been bad this time round, I've felt really chilled out, even though I was upset my period came.
Anyhoo, period has stopped now so back to the rumpy pumpy! Just hope my partner isn't going to be working late the next few days lol.

Can I ask a very silly question here girls........I have read and heard from some a few that what can help you fall pregnant is after sex you raise your hips by putting a pillow underneath your bottom......is this true and does anyone do it? I've tried it before where I've raised my bottom right up and stayed in that position for about half an hour, and sorry for too much info here, but when I do that there doesn't seem to be very much 'leakage'.

Hope everyone is well xxx

Hi ladies, the day 21 test confirmed that I ovulated for the first time in a year! 100mg seems to be my dosage and I'm really pleased I don't have to go any higher. Also if not pregnant than hoping to get a natural period and not wait to use Provera on day 42.

Good luck to the rest of you ladies trying at the mo. Welcome to new posters x

Anroga, we should be testing around the same time I guess, let's hope it's our month Smile

KerryLou, I don't elevate my hips but I do stay horizontal for at least 10 mins ... As you say, seems to be less leakage, which can only be good.

I've got PCOS too ... It sucks. Not on metformin but going to ask my Doctor why as if that would kickstart ovulation naturally then I'd be less reliant on Clomid.

Ladies, I'm obsessing already. Very sore nipples and creamy discharge (sorry if tmi)! I know clomid can give you symptoms similar to pregnancy but the wishful thinking is already in full force ...

Incidentally when do you gals test? My periods were so irregular in years gone by that I tested ad hoc. Is it 14 days post ovulation? X

2 weeks after you ovulate is when your period is due, but if you were do irregular like me, I was 20something days late. I took a test each week I think.
Good luck Lotty xxx

Hi Lotty

Great news your ovulated yays! Well I am fairly regular my period is every 29 days so my period is due on the 14th so fingers crossed it doesn't come will test around then, hoping the same for you. Ps - Still think you should push for the metformin for your PCOS being a metformin fan here!

Kerrylou I either lay horizontal for at least 30 mins if not longer (usually drift back off to sleep!) or I put a pillow underneath and hold my legs up in the air for as long as I can - I know someone who got pregnant doing that but if you read up on any website they say as long as you lay still for about 1/2 an hour that should do the trick.

Babydust to you all! xxxx

Ps - Treated myself to two glasses of white wine last night and it was heaven, if your feeling really down highly recommend it! x

Hi Anroga, I wish I was as patient as you, I bought some first response pregnancy tests today (currently an offer for 3 tests instead of 2 in Boots btw) so I am going to try and hold off testing for a few days more... The impatience is daft really as if I test too early I'm just setting myself up to disappointment Hmm

Good luck with your bubba making KerryLou xx

Hiya, just wanted to post to say good luck. I was in this situation 9months ago. After 2 years of trying and tests and tears I was prescribed clomid and fell pregnant on my first round. It does work for many. Now waiting for my little boy to arrive on the 25th. Mn conception board was such a help to me so use it as much as you can!
good luck again, and have faith in what your body's can do :)

Inspirational story Slippy, I bet you're so excited. Enjoy every minute as they grow so fast :)

From being hopeful I'm now getting period pains so do not think this month will be the one, but still just happy I ovulated. It's a start!

Well I'm on 5dpo today (if in fact I actually ovulated)

I have decided that I will test on the 16th even though I'm not due until the 19th based on my last cycle but with pcos who knows. Clomid is after making my cycles a lot more regular 29-30 ish days which is amazing for me.

I will get my cd21 bloods done this week so I may know whether or not I ovulated before I can even test.

Lotty I do not know how you can have tests in the house and not test, I have no willpower...I would be peering on them before I left boots Blush

Hi Lotty and Ditsy

Reading both of your posts makes me want to drive like a a bat out of hell straight to Boots and get a test! But my period is not due until 14th because of my cycle so surely I would be testing to early?!?

I finished ovulating on Wednesday, I feel crampy and have discharge but trying to stop my brain working overtime with baby thoughs cos as you say Lotty could just be the clomid.

xxxxx
