The old thread which was so popular has become full so thought we'd start one here again for us all to support one another through the clomid journey and celebrate it's successes xx

You're right about that Annie! Hardest thing I've ever had to endure. I think that's what makes it soo bloody annoying and frustrating when others seem to have no trouble conceiving.

How many months have you been on clomid? Are you being monitored whilst on it? Can't see why they won't just refer you for assisted conception sooner rather than later! You have to wonder what the rationale is for prescribing clomid willy nilly...and not tracking to see how you get on with it-I've heard of others getting scans and blood tests but I wasn't monitored whilst on it.

AnnieHoo · 12/03/2014 12:50

I've only had 3 rounds with no monitoring except 21 and 28 day blood tests for first round. I was told to phone for results of blood tests. Gynae said phone GP. GP receptionist said Phone Gynae dept. Eventually a GP called me back and said "I wish they wouldn't do this... all I can say from your result is it looks like the clomid is working". When i was initially referred to locum ob/gynae consultant it was a 5 min appt, he asked me questions about meeting my husband and how long I'd married for (!!) and wrote out the prescription for clomid. No tests or anything. I didn't know what he was prescribing until I read it. I was so happy that it was do easy to get clomid. Felt like if won the lottery! Will see what GP says tomorrow. Hey - still in with a chance for this round! Blimey I do go on a bit - sorry everyone!! Smile

kurama that sounds horrendous, poor woman.

Shoegal30 · 12/03/2014 21:39

I think AF may be on her way as there was the slightest bit of spotting when I just wiped.

I'm gutted. I don't know what else to do. If all mine and DHs tests are clear and I ovulate and have regular periods, I don't understand why I haven't even had a sniff of a BFP in 18 months? I just don't get it...

Fankle, why did you suspect endometriosis? Were you suffering from pain?

StoneBaby · 13/03/2014 11:22

showgal have you been told about IUI? It maybe worth looking at it with your obs? If this month doesn't work for us, it'll be IUI next month.

frankle I was not scanned on my 1st clomid but had a blood test at CD20 (this was with a gyneacologist). Once refer to a fecondity specialist, he scanned me on CD 10 and 13 to see if I was reacting to clomid or not.

Shoegal30 · 13/03/2014 12:12

Hi stone, unfortunately we won't be referred until we have been trying for 2 years which will be in 6 months.

Our FC at the hospital has put us on Clomid for 6 months and if this doesn't work then we will be eligible for assisted.

Unfortunately we are only able to go for either IUI or IVF as opposed to both.

Me and DH have been talking the past few weeks and were considering dipping into our savings and going private for either IUI or IVF but the FC explained that if we did this we wouldn't be eligible for assisted so we have decided to possibly wait the 6 months now.

I had my 21 day bloods last week for my first cycle of Clomid. Hopefully I should have the results in the next few days to confirm ovulation.

Fankletastic · 13/03/2014 12:23

Shoegal I didn't really know what to suspect but just felt that something wasn't right.

I'd noticed more pain/discomfort mid-cycle onwards - nothing too severe though- but of course I was always thinking 'ooh this could be implantation cramps' - the usual symptom spotting and clutching at straws. Obviously it wasn't implantation so I started to become more aware that such pains each month were not normal for me compared to, say, the year before. Also my periods were getting lighter and lasting for fewer days, which I had put down to the clomid. And sex was occasionally painful in some positions.

I'm glad I told my FC about it. In a way I felt a bit silly telling him about the pains, which I thought could well be normal. But if I hadn't had the laparoscopy I would be none the wiser, so I'm glad the FC was agreeable to me having the procedure. Now the endometriosis had been removed I'm just waiting to see if it makes any difference to the pain (only on 2nd cycle since) and of course to ttc.

If I'm told at my appointment on Monday to go back on clomid for 3 months I will ask for blood tests and monitoring. Do you think that's too cheeky?

Shoegal30 · 13/03/2014 22:05

Hey fankle glad that you pushed to get tested for endometriosis if you had suspicions.

I think you should push to be monitored this time for Clomid too. I don't think its cheeky. As they say, you don't ask, you don't get. Push for it xx

Shoegal30 · 13/03/2014 22:16

Also ladies if you can advise, this will be my second cycle of Clomid. I have been spotting today and last night and AF hasn't arrived properly yet.

. I'm not sure what day to count as first day of cycle. First day of spotting or first day of full bleed? I've always understood it as first day of full bleed but FC said to count first day of spotting which would put today as second day of cycle even though I haven't had full bleed yet.

Also I have read on some forums that people who take Clomid days 3-7 are more successful than day 2-6. What do you think? I did day 2-6 my first month.

Fankletastic · 13/03/2014 23:00

Oh Shoegal it's a bloomin minefield (read mindfuck if you'll pardon my French)! I would've said count from first full day flow but if your consultant has said otherwise then you should probably follow their advice.

I always wondered why some people are advised to take it days 3-7 and some 2-6... Some even 5-9 I think! No idea! Sorry.

Shoegal30 · 14/03/2014 06:52

Well AF hasn't come yet so am thinking of taking the medication from first full day of bleed.

I mean who knows this could be an implantation bleed (very very very unlikely I know).

kerrylou84 · 14/03/2014 07:30

Hi shoegal. That happened with me and I rang my doctor and explained that I was just spotting, he said to count that as my first day. I think I spotted for a couple of days then the full period came. I was taking chlomid days 2-6, I never realised until reading some threads that it could be taken on different days.
Xxx

Shoegal30 · 14/03/2014 07:35

Thanks Kerry - so you counted your first day of spotting as first day of cycle?

Did you continue taking Clomid day 2-6?

kurama · 14/03/2014 07:39

I was told to go from first day of full bleed. I wonder why people are told to take it on different days....Confused

kerrylou84 · 14/03/2014 09:20

Yeah shoegal, spotting was day one then took chlomid days 2-6.

Xxx

StoneBaby · 14/03/2014 17:16

Shoegal - have you POAS to confirm it's not AF?

So for the last 2 days, I have been nauseous, extremely tired BUT cramping! So I don't know if I need to waste a test or POAS Hmm
