The old thread which was so popular has become full so thought we'd start one here again for us all to support one another through the clomid journey and celebrate it's successes xx

Hello can I join this thread too?

Me and DH have been TTC for 18 months. A bit of background:

  • I have regular periods
  • I ovulate (proved by blood tests, temping and 12 months of using CBFM)
  • DH SA was good
  • HSG showed clear tubes
  • ovary scan was clear
  • have been doing acupuncture for 3 months

The fertility consultant has said that we won't be eligible for assisted conception for another 6 months.

In the meantime we have been prescribed 6 months of Clomid. She said that although I ovulate, Clomid may give it a little boost.

I started my first month of Clomid and ovulated this week and have been getting in a lot of action.

Hoping Clomid will do the trick but unsure how useful it is for people who already ovulate?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 01/03/2014 16:57

Hi shoegal, I'm in a similar situation but with mild pcos so the clomid has regulated my cycles. I'm on month 2.

Shoegal30 · 02/03/2014 10:22

Hi ginger.

I have heard great stories about Clomid regulating cycles etc.

I'm not sure how effective it is for those already ovulating but I would try anything at the moment. I was laughing telling DH that I would prob eat poo if somebody said that would help me conceive.

It's amazing how much you lose your mind when TTC eh?

AnnieHoo · 02/03/2014 10:26

AF showed up. Ding Ding! Round #3!

Hi Shoegal you sound exactly the same as me - everything except the acupuncture which nobody does here (I live on a Scottish island).

kurama · 02/03/2014 10:36

I'm on cd 16 of first round and been having crampy af like pain since Fri night which peaked yest so I assume it's ov pain? later than doc predicted but if it is dh better watch out lol Grin

kerrylou84 · 02/03/2014 11:46

Ah sorry to hear that Annie.....but like you say round 3!

Kurama chlomid did regulate my cycle for the first 2 rounds, lasting 26-27 days. The next 3 months just went to total capoot, 41 days, 73 days then 47 days..

My last round on chlomid I ovulated day 14........the day before I went for reflexology! I don't know if that has anything to do with me ovulating at the right time and actually falling pregnant, but it seems like such a huge coincidence.

I stopped thinking about it all as I got to the point where I was thinking it's never going to work, so I stopped thinking about it as much as I could, I got on with my life still having wine at a weekend and look at me now!

Ladies, try and relax as much as possible xxx

Feeling sick today eurgh and really tender nipples lol xxx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 12:03

Af got me too, boo! After our cross country dash and everything! round 19, (mentally exhausted and fed up) ding ding!

AnnieHoo · 02/03/2014 12:11

Oh no Ginger! At least you know you did everything you could. I saw my temp dip this morning and there she was when I went to the loo. OH caught my blubbing over the chicken while I was trying to stuff it! Total meltdown Hmm. I thought I was ok until I googled IVF chances and it's all looking pretty slim. Phoned my mum and she's worried about this ruining my life. I do need to start accepting that I might never get pregnant. At least I have the Clomid though and after that I'm going to stop all this.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 13:45

Sorry the witch got you too Annie. It's hard to stay positive when month after month it's a bfn! However we have no option eh? And will it be worth it all when we get our bfp, yes it will.

My poor dp is blaming himself, he's been amazing! So, cycle bud, end of March might be our time. We're off work around time of predicted ov so gonna go for it this month.

I've also been looking at ivf, think we will attend at open evening to do a reccie!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 13:54

Get DTd kurama!!!!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 13:55

shoegal I was already ovulating too, as well as regulating cycles I believe it boosts your cycle generally making you more fertile.

kurama · 02/03/2014 15:30

lol @ gingerbread lady! thats what dhs aunt told me to do when i asked her about the pain. she told me to stop talking to her and get at it. she also sent him atxt telling him to wake up and "do his duty" . LOL well it was ov yest then im hopeful as we dtd wed/thurs/fri night and this morn Grin she said she will be reminding me in two weeks to poas! shes got me all excited now and its only round one Sad but fingers crossed the penis dragons are working and babydust to everyone!

Lottystar · 02/03/2014 18:00

Hi ladies, sorry to hear the witch arrived Annie & Ginger, don't give up, the feeling after it all when you get that bfp is indescribable.

Welcome to the other ladies too - I'd honestly recommend the SMEP if you've not tried it. It knackers you out but worked for me in December's cycle. Worth a google.

I had a tough day yesterday, after not dtd since getting pregnant, my dh and I relented to natural urges on Fri night and Saturday I woke up to spotting. I had a mc in Oct so utterly freaked out. After speaking my GP I was sent for a scan and thankfully bubba was wriggling around. I was dated at 10 weeks and 4 days. Apparently sex can make you bleed as your cervix is sensitive and swollen with the extra blood flow to the region. I have my 12 week scan on Friday so hoping little one is still okay and as active xx

Your aunt sounds great kurama lol!

Lotty, what a nightmare! You must have been terrified, so glad everything is okay. That'll put you off any shenanigans till baby arrives then you'll be too knackered. You'll be looking forward to fri too.

Do you mind me asking how long were you ttc before clomid & how old you are. I'm worried about my age/egg quality Sad

Lottystar · 03/03/2014 00:28

I don't mind at all Ginger, I was ttc for around 18 months but not ovulating at all on my own since ds 2. I was diagnosed with PCOS after investigations and put on clomid. I am 35 in May.

What days are you taking clomid? I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I'm sure I read somewhere that taking it day 5-9 was for optimal egg quality rather than day 2-6. Worth googling or speaking with your fertility nurse / Dr about if egg quality could be an issue.

Also we used Activ balance conceive spray when dtd both times I fell pregnant on clomid. You can buy it in boots.

Hi Lotty
Hope you're feeling better after your fright and will be reassured on Friday. Not long now!

I was thinking about changing my Clomid days and have been doing some research about it ... I've been put on days 2-6. From my googling I think the idea is to pop out more eggs With the aim of producing that one is viable. I'm going to stick to days 2-6 this month, starting at 9pm tonight Smile

kurama · 04/03/2014 00:17

has anyone had side effects from them? my suspected ov pain has turned into a hospital visit and doc thinks my ovaries are inflamed but won't be sure till he does a scan tomoro..... This pain is agony! I can't move Sad

kerrylou84 · 04/03/2014 07:03

Hi kurama. Yeah the first 2 months on chlomid I had ovulation pain,, but not as bad as what you're having by the sound of it. Your ovaries have probably gone into shock.

Hope the pain eases for you.xxx

kurama · 04/03/2014 09:01

Thanks kerrylou. makes me wonder if I have been ovulating.... so do I. Can't go into work like this! Sad

Gingerbreadlady1 · 04/03/2014 11:43

Oh no kurama, hope everything is okay, let us know!

Cheers lotty, got an apt on 4th with fc so gonna ask about changing days then.

kurama · 04/03/2014 16:04

Just back home from hosp. They think a cyst on one side burst again and it is the over stimulation thing but only on one side which isn't normal. so their gonna keep an eye on me next month in case it happens again....Sad

AnnieHoo · 04/03/2014 17:57

Ouch Kurama that sounds sore. Hope you're feeling better. Good that they'll be keeping a close eye on you now.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 04/03/2014 19:24

I second what annie says, hope you're on the mend kurama

Emma0384 · 05/03/2014 11:51

Hi all, me and my hubby have been trying 4 yrs to have a baby with no luck i have never been pregnant! (hubby is fine, had his sperm checked and all normal) - i started metformin 1 yr ago as they have told me i have PCOS, very irregular periods around 30-50 days varied. i am also quite over weight, trying to get some weight off tho lost 1st 5lb so far its slow but coming down! i have now been referred to gyne for more help. She is going to do and x ray to check my tubes and if they are clear she is starting me on clomid. I am over the moon as i though they wouldn't give it me due to being over weight! i was just really looking for info on how successful if at all the met clomid combo is! thanks all :)

kurama · 05/03/2014 15:40
