Glad all you MNers are ok. Hope this is all over soon.

5inthebed · 07/07/2010 18:13

I would have said co-quit-dale, so I was close

I thought the appeal made by his ex's dad was quite dignified given what he has done.

I thought the chippy was in Delaval?

wubblybubbly · 07/07/2010 18:22

Ooh yes, hollyoaks, lovely ice cream up in Seaton DellarVarl.

bossyboop · 07/07/2010 18:24

5inthebed · 07/07/2010 18:30

I love the ice cream shop in Delarvarl, my friend used to live around the corner on Blythe street so we visited every time we were there.

saffy202 · 07/07/2010 19:01

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 07/07/2010 21:16

Did you see on the news that man that the police escorted into a farm house, they formed a human police shield around him and had told the reporters that the man's life was in danger. It looked like they were worried he could be shot from behind a tree at any second. Why did they just not put him a car and drive him up to the door rather than risk a walk down a long drive? DH reckoned he was bait but surely the police can't do that?

5inthebed · 07/07/2010 21:27

No I missed th nes this evening! Who was the man?

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 07/07/2010 21:34

They wouldn't say. Sky News had to blur his face at police request as "his life may be in danger". He was handcuffed and taken into the farmhouse. It was a preplanned thing as the Sky reporter said they were given advance notice of what was about to happen. It wasn't Raul Moat.

point taken about news people checking before they utter, hollyoaks! but although I know how to pronounce Coquetdale I was once soundly mocked (have family up there) for saying PONTyland so I feel their

What I don't understand is why, after Durham prison specifically warned the local police - which was acknowledged by them - that they feared he would harm his ex, he wasn't trailed from the moment he was released Unless prisons issue warnings like that all the time?

Eglu · 07/07/2010 21:45

Glad I'm not theo nly person to be wondering what the hell is going on with Sue Sims hair. It's awful.

My Mum lives in the NE and I was visiting her at the weekend. DS1 (6) got very upset at bedtime on Sunday evening as he was going to bed. He was worrried he was going to get shot by the man with the gun.

Unfortunately we had gone along the A1 under the A69 on Sunday morning before we realised what had happened there. He saw all the police cars and armed officers and got very upset.

We are back home in Scotland now. I hope they find him soon.

5inthebed · 07/07/2010 21:48

That all seems really odd. Why was the man handcuffed?

Chil1234 · 07/07/2010 21:49

The police don't have a very good track-record when it comes to stalkers, violent ex-partners and other 'domestics'. Remember the poor girl working in a department store shot by someone she'd gone out with for a couple of weeks? They need a strategy pretty quickly because, even when these men are reported, it doesn't seem to be taken all that seriously.

I just wish the man would shoot himself and we could all get on.... That's all these things ever are. A drawn out theatrical suicide with a few variations depending on location. Take a few people out along the way that have annoyed you, leave something on YouTube or write big long suicide notes letters ... but it only ever ends one way.

AngeChica · 07/07/2010 21:53

Sue Sim looks very like Alice from Vicar of Dibley dont you think?

saffy202 · 07/07/2010 21:58

Certainly don't Chil1234. I remember a few years back a woman murdered by her ex and there had been warnings/prison sentences etc.
It was also on Northumbria police's patch

juneybean · 07/07/2010 22:00

LOL @ AngeChica

AngeChica · 07/07/2010 22:07

we're desperate for him to be caught here. DH taking expedition of school kids to Cheviots; has put a lot of work into this trip and if he is still at large in the area they can't go.

Not to belittle the need for vile and dangerous man to be apprehended and brought to justice of course!

jalopy · 07/07/2010 22:16

Assuming he's hiding in the countryside around the farm, why don't they use a helicopter and use infra-red equipment to locate him?

Millie1 · 07/07/2010 22:18

Have just been watching the news and had to come and check out the Mumsnet view! Why haven't their sniffer dogs picked him up if he's still around???

wubblybubbly · 07/07/2010 22:22

jalopy, I've wondered that too. Surely they've got the heat seeking camera thingy?

HinnyPet · 07/07/2010 22:24

He could hide in a flock of sheep

Ponders · 07/07/2010 22:27

infra-red won't find him if he's inside a building, & if he's got pals who are going along with hiding him from the police they can move him about wherever they all like & dogs can't help with that either

(just goes to show how easy it can be to evade the law if you are smart & have good friends )

wubblybubbly · 07/07/2010 22:27

@ Hinnypet. Let's hope he's not reading this, you'll be giving him ideas!
