They live near Coniston. They never switch their mobiles on. I think Wed is their bowling day though, so prob ok.

MuthaHubbard · 02/06/2010 14:01

hopefully they'll be okay and worst case scenario is they'll be stuck inside drinking tea mumble

MuthaHubbard · 02/06/2010 14:03

you were right, they've located a body they suspect to be of the gunman.

fingers crossed this is correct

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 02/06/2010 14:04

Reports saying he's dead.

PrivetDancer · 02/06/2010 14:04

thank god for that

katycarr · 02/06/2010 14:04

Was going to cross post and say he is dead.

Remotew · 02/06/2010 14:05

Wonder what made him flip . He's dead, body just found in a wood in Eskdale.

BunnyLebowski · 02/06/2010 14:15

A friend of mine is from those parts and tells me that the gunman was done for tax evasion recently and the man he shot at the taxi rank was a colleague who he believed dobbed him in.

DanJARMouse · 02/06/2010 14:18

This is so sad.

What makes me so mad is the fact he has killed and injured many, and then rather than face the consequences has killed himself.

Those poor families that will not get to see justice done.

Although I agree he is better off dead, I believe the families of those injured deserved the chance to see him sentenced.

Remotew · 02/06/2010 14:18

Lots of speculation on the internet about his troubles. Poor families who are affected, just terrible.

StealthPolarBear · 02/06/2010 14:18

hope that's it, over then

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 02/06/2010 14:59

He shot his mother.

StealthPolarBear · 02/06/2010 15:01
Shock
LetThereBeRock · 02/06/2010 15:06

Where did it say that about his mother? Not that I'm doubting it.

LetThereBeRock · 02/06/2010 15:08

I'm relieved that he's dead. I can't say it's over as the horror and grief is only just beginning for so many friends and relatives and for the wounded.

I can't understand how anyone could do this. It's beyond comprehension.

ClaireDeLoon · 02/06/2010 15:11

The bbc news site also has a breaking story about a child taken from a house by police and airlifted to hospital after reported sounds of gunshot. Today is turning out to be a bit grim. This Derbywhire though so presumably unrelated.

LetThereBeRock · 02/06/2010 15:12

I was just reading that on the BBC site. It describes it as a major incident. I hope the child will be ok.

StealthPolarBear · 02/06/2010 15:23

yes, i was wondering about the mother thing.
Sorry the "it's over" remark was a bit insensitive. Obviously i meant there won't be more, but agree it's far from over for the people directly affected

Remotew · 02/06/2010 15:28

West Cumbria has had a terrible time of things recently. The victims of the school bus crash were from that way.

StealthPolarBear · 02/06/2010 15:31

oh yes, I hadn't remembered about that

LetThereBeRock · 02/06/2010 15:32

I wasn't referring to your post SPB.I hadn't even read it when you posted that.
You didn't say anything wrong and it's true that the killings are over and thankgod for that.

toccatanfudge · 02/06/2010 15:57

terrible for all those friends family of those killed or injured. BBC is saying at least 5 killed and 23 injured - awful

flabbyribs · 02/06/2010 16:09

They are saying on Sky news that he could've killed his mum now but why????
They are also saying there could be up to 30 victims some hurt and some dead what made this guy flip like that? It also says something about an argument starting last night but it's NO excuse to go round shooting 30 people.
You never usually hear a shooting spree like this in this country America yeah but never here.
WHAT WORLD IS OUR KIDS GROWING UP INTO??
