thanks edam.

I have offered to go down to him by bus (if I can) to take some food and money but he wants me to stay where I am for now.

chicagomum · 21/07/2005 20:57

phew i was hoping you'd pop back and all would be ok - this was my first altercation (for want of a better word) on mn a i was feeling a bit upset at upsetting/angering someone (stupid i know) anyway i hope all you londoners are safe and well and get back to the comfort of your homes and loved ones asap

Blu

Blimey, Kid, where is he? They wouldn't let anyone back in to our building once we were out - we had a ludicrous sitution where staff were signalling to each other out of windows to collect things like house keys off the desks of people who had gone to lunch and couldn't get back in - but they were happy for us to go out if we headed away from the tube. Actually, to begin with they said i couldn't take my car out because no movement of traffic was allowed - but then decided they wanted the place for emergency vehicles!
Hope it's 2 hours, not 36, Kid

edam · 21/07/2005 20:59

pouchofdouglas, is that cod's new name? can't keep up!

kid · 21/07/2005 21:00

soapbox - he is on a side street off Totenham Court Road. He has been with his staff (most of who have decided to attempt to get home now), they have been sitting around in a resturant (with £9.00) between all of them. He hasn't had hardly anything to eat today, just a bag of crisp.
The resturant did give them all a free can of coke!

Blu · 21/07/2005 21:00

Sorry I disappeared - putting DS to bed, not flouncing

Oooh, it could haved been my first!

kid · 21/07/2005 21:01

They could come home without most of the items from the shop but the shop isn't locked, the doors are just closed. He can't leave until he can secure the shop. Stupid shop, he doesn't even like working there!

nutcracker · 21/07/2005 21:02

I am I really niave (sp ?) for being shocked that they tried it again ?? I really didn't think they would.

edam · 21/07/2005 21:02

Oh Lord Kid, that's rough. I've probably been in your dh's shop a few times.

soapbox · 21/07/2005 21:02

Kid

I presume he can't leave until the shop is secure??

Hope he gets home sooner rather than later!

MrsGordonRamsay · 21/07/2005 21:03

Blu

You will never flounce, you are too, what was the word I used a while ago ???

I think it was sensible

chicagomum · 21/07/2005 21:03

can i ask you all what has london been like in the last couple of weeks is there a noticable change in the way of life or is it "business as usual"

edam · 21/07/2005 21:04

So it isn't his own shop, Kid? Can he not do a deal with area manager or something to take over if dh has to wait much longer?

kid · 21/07/2005 21:04

Maybe you have Edam, but there are lots of shops on TCR!

kid · 21/07/2005 21:06

He has been on to his dopey area manager and he is sitting at home telling DH what he should and shouldn't be doing. IMO, he should get off his backside and go and take over from DH.

soapbox · 21/07/2005 21:07

Chicagomum - a little tense on the bomb days itself, but a bit of camaraderie when travelling home.

On other days you'd never spot the difference - which is really as it should be

soapbox · 21/07/2005 21:09

Kid - if I was him I'd let the area manager know that I'd had enough for the day and leave him to deal with it.

I would imagine your DH has had quite enough for one day!!!

edam · 21/07/2005 21:11

Yeah, but if he's very close to Warren St tube, and sells newspapers or sandwiches or anything else people going to and from work need I bet I've been in!

kid · 21/07/2005 21:12

His shop sells DIY and household stuff.

soapbox · 21/07/2005 21:14

Robert Dyas??????

marthamoo · 21/07/2005 21:15

I'm so sorry those of you in London are going through this again. Hang on in there.

kid · 21/07/2005 21:16

well done soapbox, although I'm sure I mentioned it before on MN!

edam · 21/07/2005 21:16

If it is RD then yes!

soapbox · 21/07/2005 21:18

Thanks Moo

My sister rang me today worried again and told me to get out of bl**dy London - but it isn't that easy. If we all do that then they win don't they!
