Don't know HD. Brother works in Whitehall. (Think FCO is in Whitehall?)

mummy23 · 21/07/2005 15:56

Sorry your feeling this way HD, whats happened to make you feel like this?

OP posts:
Tinker · 21/07/2005 15:56

Or maybe they're just crap at making bombs Klara. Been enough info on how to do it though.

spacedonkey · 21/07/2005 15:56

Klara, I think it is standard procedure for the police to investigate whether any chemical/biological agents have been used. I've heard that nothing of that kind was found (on Sky News). They are just being thorough.

Klara · 21/07/2005 15:57

hope you are right Tinker - and they are just cretins....

spacedonkey · 21/07/2005 15:58

Sky News : "UCH situation over"

Easy · 21/07/2005 15:58

Hey HappyDaddy, this isn't like you.

Sorry you have been upset, I know you worry about your rellies, we're just trying to keep some normality going love.

Cup of tea, with a drop of something in it to calm your nerves ??

mummy23 · 21/07/2005 15:58

Klara, they are taking precautions about whether they used any chemicals, and so far there has not been any chemicals traced!

Everyone in london is affected by this indirectly HD
Some of us work close by these sites and with transport workers / hospital workers etc
It is distressing times but keeping your spirits up can help some people.

Klara · 21/07/2005 15:59

SD - would you know immediately if there was a biological threat though?

genuine question which I hope someone can answer as I'm clueless. Am supposed to be coming iver next week for a few days......hmmmm. Personally have avoided the tube for years due to the fact that it scares me shitless even without a bomb threat.....(blame my brother for that time he locked me im the wardrobe as a child - i have an abiding fear of enclosed spaces now!)

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:00

mummy23, two weeks ago my wife walked through liverpool st station as the bomb went off under it. Today her younger sister was on a number 26 bus in hackney road a few minutes before the one with the bomb. I am, understandably I think, a little shaken at what nearly happened.

I posted on here, hoping for a little support and maybe a sympathetic word. Is that selfish and naive? Possibly. I'm upset that it takes a rant of argument from me to get response from any of the Mumnsetters here. Mumsnet is great for issuing support to people and I happily join in doing that. Maybe I'm taking things to heart too much, today. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive and not focussing on the plus points, that my wife and sister in law weren't caught in the incidents. If you think that then I'm sorry.

snafu · 21/07/2005 16:00

HD, I understand what you are saying, but no-one has been hurt and we are just trying to keep things light. There is no point in getting angry with us. Lots of us are affected by this.

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:02

Klara BBC reported that the Tube police have rapid response units with sensors which tell if chemical or biological agents were used. Is that any help?

spacedonkey · 21/07/2005 16:02

I didn't realise you were looking for support HD, I'm sorry. There are lots of mners in London, many are living/working near to these incidents, like your SIL. It's understandable if you are feeling sensitive ... I think we all are.

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:03

snafu, like i said i'm sorry. I was just hoping for a sympathetic comment or two. Even an insult or joke would have been better than being ignored.

Klara · 21/07/2005 16:04

thanks HD! Yes - it does make me feel better. There are some total nutters out there - I cannot even imagine what these people are thinking.

Am a bit behind as am at work and only have BBerg and internet - and both seem to be lagging the bbc and sky - so thanks

K

mummy23 · 21/07/2005 16:04

Sorry HD, i didn't realise that your wife and SIL were so close to the attacks, just glad that there was no one harmed.
Shows that someone is looking after you!

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:06

Oh, I'm probably over-reacting. I've done a lot of that recently. I think I need more sleep and to take deep breaths.

edam · 21/07/2005 16:08

HD, not surprised you are jumpy. A lot of us around London have ourselves or have family/friends scarily close to this. It's not funny when someone close to you is involved (although I found the black jokes a huge relief shortly after my own very trivial mini-scare).

The BMA were due to hold their act of remembrance for the victims they treated today... (bus bomb blew up outside BMA House - the docs treated people at the scene).

snafu · 21/07/2005 16:08

It's a horrible time, HD. Try not to take it personally. These threads move very fast. No-one noticed my post about my brother's flat being a few yards away from the bus

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:11

snafu, i noticed it but was so wrapped up in myself that i didn't reply. How is he?

Edam, I think my problem is that I'm not used to worrying about dw or her family like this. I feel powerless being a SAHD. I'm trying to sort out a plan where me and dw can swap, me back at work and her at home. I'd feel much better that way. Does that make sense?

alicatsg · 21/07/2005 16:11

its a very charged time so not surprising that its getting to you HD. Law of averages suggests that your time for close calls is over tho so maybe thats something to remember when it gets to you.

Kayleigh · 21/07/2005 16:11

HappyDaddy, how scary for them both to have been so close. Thank god they are both ok.
Am sitting in my office near Liverpool Street quietly terrified. I want to go home to my kids but my trains aren't running. It says they may be back up soon. Then on the other hand I feel safer in the office.

Bloody hell I hate these people for making me feel like this

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 16:12

Where near Liverpool street are you, Kayleigh? My dw is almost next door.

Blu · 21/07/2005 16:15

It's all v odd. One of todays incidents (sounds like bombs that didn't detonate properly) was 50m from my place of work. I am at home, evacuated, our building taken over for police command centre.
But being close and knowing I'm ok feels MUCH less scary than last week when I was across London, but DP and BIL were right next to affected stations.
The main thing is, everyone's ok.

(I have to admit i found the Harry potter gag v funny!)
