If there is a phase 2 hopefully London will ahve been evacuated by then - but hopefully that was it.

munz · 07/07/2005 12:45

they have to prepare for it thou don't they. FIL is on his way out of london back to bradford - thank god.

1 safe 3 to go.

soapbox · 07/07/2005 12:46

Lisa - I seriously doubt that there will be a phase 2.

And in any case, if there is there is, and we will all just cope with whatever that brings.

This is all about causing fear and disruption and sitting in the thick of it, it is so hard not to be affected in exactly the way they want us to be. However, we all need to be brave right now and deal with things one thing at a time. Follow the advice that is being given out and try to do our best to stay calm

sis · 07/07/2005 12:47

I'm fine. I'm off to pick up my neice who is on work placement near Commercial Street and then we are off to start the looooong walk home.

binkie · 07/07/2005 12:48

Oh sis I have been thinking of you! So glad you are OK.

Marina · 07/07/2005 12:49

Sis hurrah! Thank goodness!

ScummyMummy · 07/07/2005 12:49

Brilliant advice, soapbox. Lisa- keep calm darling. Of course you're scared and understandably so but it's really likely that things are under control now and it's just a matter of sorting out the chaos. Hang in there.

lisalisa - the phase thing is mindless speculation and in no way from an official source.

I just came to check, this is so awful, so glad to see so many London mumsnetters checked in. My family in London (sister and step father) are ok too.

expatkat · 07/07/2005 13:02

Just would like to offer help to anyone marooned in the City & worried about getting to kids. . .If anyone lives even remotely nearish Paddington & will be stuck for childcare, I can possbily pick yr kids up by taxi if necessaryor they can be sent here w/ their carers by taxiand I can look after them til you return.

Sorry for all of you in this situation.

frogs · 07/07/2005 13:03

Soapbox, we're comfortable walking distance from Moorfields Eye hospital, so if you need a bed for the night, let me know.

Don't panic, lisalisa, it does look like things are stablising a bit.

Anyone who stays the night here will have to share in DS's birthday cake, which I stayed up lovingly crafting last night (pirate ship, a la binkie and co.) Now my mum, sister and nephews can't come cos they're all stuck in West London, so his birthday tea will be a bit of a non-event. Poor little ds. But at least we're all okay.

soapbox · 07/07/2005 13:06

Frogs - that is so kind of you

So sorry about your DS's party

SaintGeorge · 07/07/2005 13:10

Official police advice to Londoners is still to stay where you are.

Thinking of you all xx

Springchicken · 07/07/2005 13:22

What about Twinkie??? Don't know if she has changed her name or not, or maybe she is still on maternity leave?

sorrel · 07/07/2005 13:23

BIL safe and well, but stuck at Kings Cross. They have been cordoned off by police.

thought T. Blair could have shown a bit more strength in his statement. he looked too much like a rabbit caught in headlights . Doesn't inspire confidence IMHO

almostanangel · 07/07/2005 13:25

poor sod has prob got jet lag!

hoxtonchick · 07/07/2005 13:25

we too have beds for anyone who needs them and are within easy walking dustance of the city.

binkie · 07/07/2005 13:25

Mobiles working a bit now - have spoken to our nanny & all fine (she's got them over at hers since our area - not far from Edgward Rd - still lots of closed off roads).

So soapbox can you try your dh?

Norash · 07/07/2005 13:26

KBear or any other Mners,

I know Beachy works in the city, but not sure whether she's on maternity leave yet. Please post if you know or hear from her.

soapbox · 07/07/2005 13:29

Still getting network busy - grrrrrrrr!
