We have Nick Jr on - was furious though: ds1 found out whilst at pre-school this morning that there were "cannon-balls in London, and isn't that where Daddy is?". Just picked him up at midday after been trying for over an hour to get hold of dh, but no news. Thankfully returned home to find an email from dh. Not sure what I'm going to say to the head of preschool on Monday . I know most of the parents do work locally, but there was no way the childen should have been told.

{Hugs} to all those waiting for news. We're still waiting to get hold to my dad and my brother who are working on the Holloway Road, but they would have got to work before the incidents.

Canery Wharf has been evacuated?? is that confirmed??

tiredemma · 07/07/2005 12:39

just had a call from work colleague, problems getting into birmingham city centre, New st is being closed aswell (apparently- how true this is though i dont know). Have to be at work in town for 2pm.

hope someone is exagerating at work about New st etc as people often do during events like this.

kid · 07/07/2005 12:41

Dh has a work colleague there and the shops have been told to evacuate.

PooPooGirl · 07/07/2005 12:41

TE - Poss true. I have seen an internal council email that states what they are doing (read taking it v v seriously) we are also on a direct train line into London!

suzywong · 07/07/2005 12:41

Oh blimey it's awful

ds1 recognised a London bus on tv and I had to tell him it was dynamite, thank god we told him dh had gone to America and not London.

I must say the emergency services sound very cool and collected

tiredemma · 07/07/2005 12:41

Blackduck · 07/07/2005 12:43

rumours (no more than that..) of bomb on bus in Coventry and Swansea Uni campus has been evacuated...

Blu · 07/07/2005 12:43

Can I ask whether there is any reliable source - like a BBC or other serious report where it says they are concerned about this being phase 1? because if not, can we put a stop to it here? it is frightening people in London sick.

tiredemma · 07/07/2005 12:43

dizzymama, apparently bham new st is being closed and there is difficulty getting into bham on the buses. how true it is i dont know- about to find out.

dizzymama · 07/07/2005 12:43

Cat 82, I suppose a cold has never been more welcome. So pleased for you x

dizzymama · 07/07/2005 12:44

OMG, Dh is just down from Brum...off I go to phone him ....

SaintGeorge · 07/07/2005 12:44

One of the biggest dangers in the early stages of attacks like this is panic.

No one can confirm this is a stage one attack.

No one in authority in London has confirmed 20 dead - only unconfirmed reports of 2 fatalities.

Blackduck · 07/07/2005 12:45

stuff I've heard is on Radio 5 (who use Sky...)

jayzmummy · 07/07/2005 12:45

I heard about the attack on the radio as I was driving home from town this morning. I had to stop and pull over because I couldnt see for tears.
My first thought was of all the lovely netters I have "met" since joining here, who are based in and around London.

I pray that you and your loved ones are safe and will be reunited with your families soon.

I just can not comprehend how any human being could want to destroy anothers life in such a way.

My thoughts are with you all.xxxxxx

snafu · 07/07/2005 12:45

speculation, sorry ds on lap
