I just realized, I called her a vicious old husk. I think I?m jealous.

UnquietDad · 28/11/2009 01:01

You see, I can't say things like that, or I get called misogynist ! (She is though.)

MadameDefarge · 28/11/2009 01:04

UQD, you never met Paul Dacre, have you?

alwayslookingforanswers · 28/11/2009 01:05

agree with UQD's last post entirely.

MrsBlackbeard · 28/11/2009 01:07

[Grin]UnquiteD
Im away to express some milk.I look foward to seeing the whole of MN will turn out for this one.
Nitenite

scottishmummy · 28/11/2009 01:07

she is a pound per word journalist.and the more mn froth and indignation the article generates the more can hold her hands up and say "im vindicated"

fuck sake if only people got so animated about real news and not mn schlock

mn isnt real, isnt so important.it is an enjoyable anonymous internet pursuit

MrsBlackbeard · 28/11/2009 01:09

Ah bollox me grin went wrong.
Im fucken working class you know.
Very big

alwayslookingforanswers · 28/11/2009 01:13

hmm not entirely sure about "no real" - misdde/peter, the MNer (whose name I forget ) whose DD died of SIDS and the Mile for Maude, the yearly Secret Santa, sometimes the lines do get blurry.

"fuck sake if only people got so animated about real news and not mn schlock"

some of us get animated about both!

AitchTwoToTangOh · 28/11/2009 10:05

i care.

i totally think that this is real, tbh if you're not conscious of the fact that you're talking to real people with real feelings i can't see what the point is of coming on here.

DuelingFanjo · 28/11/2009 10:10

I wonder who it was who told the bounty admin mum that she was a bad mum and was abusing her child by giving her a bottle rather than a cup at 14 months!

Nancy66 · 28/11/2009 10:25

Arf - this thread has made me laugh.

The most bizarre thing was somebody deciding that Sarah Chalmers must be married to the bloke from Heartbeat. Still can't follow the logic on that one!

She's a freelance I think, always used to write travel features. But having a kid opens you up to a whole new world of shite in journalism - so she's obviously now milking that one.

DuelingFanjo · 28/11/2009 10:29

Are you sure you don't mean Judith Chalmers?

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 10:33

Yes, we got a bit carried away with that one

I think it was because it was the only person we could think of that we'd pissed off recently. Clearly it was late, and we were seriously deluded about that...

Nancy66 · 28/11/2009 10:36

She is, in fact, wee Jimmy Krankie

alwayslookingforanswers · 28/11/2009 10:41

yea - that was shineoncrazydiamond's fault - she said it was that milk promo women - and I was bored and went with the flow .

I now know FAR more than I ever cared to know bout all of those people mentioned though

Actually - come to think of it (I missed most of yesterday posts on here) - did anyone come up with who Sarah Chalmers actually is on MN??????

bibbitybobbityhat · 28/11/2009 10:43

What I now want to know is if the Schmauskin who posted a comment on DM online is the genuine article, or a Mumsnetter taking the p. But guess I never will!

nighbynight · 28/11/2009 10:49

Ive always seen Mumsnet as a sort of virtual garden fence, with much the same content as neighbours have exchanged for generations. It's perfectly realistic to wonder if changing your child's name might upset them - I don't knwo why she picked this particular example.

what does teh author of the article expect, that we will all be angels floating around in broderie anglaise nighties with our perfect babies?

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 11:31

Who was that journo who came on a baby name thread about to change her son's name, and then slagged us all off in her article? Could it be her?

DuelingFanjo · 28/11/2009 11:35

BOF - I remember - who was that? Wasn't quite recent. Someone who was a mumsnetter and everyone was supposed to know she was a journalist? Or was that someone different?

DuelingFanjo · 28/11/2009 11:37

Oh - no, I was thinking about the janice Turner thing.

Doesn't the woman in this article actually mention the name change thread anyway?

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 12:00

This is the one I was thinking of, and this was her thread

I am definitely going to go and do something useful and get off the laptop now...

RustyBear · 28/11/2009 13:48

Very interesting re-reading that baby-naming thread and article - the article has actually been edited since it first appeared- originally she said she met with 'fierce resistance' to the change on MN - and she was flamed for it on her thread, as the reaction had in fact been generally positive. Now it says she got a 'mixed reaction.'
Wonder who changed it?

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 14:11

Well-spotted, Rusty- I thought I must have mis-remembered it!
