Danyl Johnson on X Factor.

I just don't get why people have such a downer on Danyl Johnson, making him out to be hugely cocky and overconfident. He is one of the best singers on the show.
Reading the paper this morning, there seems to be a feeling of satisfaction that he got what he deserved.
He has consistently performed well, and I just don't get why the media want to give him such a hard time. He is a nice lad who lives in my village near Reading, and is getting all this stuff written about how awful he is. My DH and DD1 met him at the rugby a few weeks ago and he was absolutely lovely, not diva-like at all. DD1 went all girly and star-struck, and lost the power of speech. He was SO kind, he told her not to be shy, and they had a nice little chat. My DH chatted to him too, and says he was a really nice guy.
I just think its really unfair the way he is being portrayed.
And Cheryl and that whole deadlock business, I've gone right off her now. Used to think she was nice.

I'm in the anti-Danyl camp myself. I get the impression he's desperately trying to cover up how much he actually loves himself and have to admit that when he buggered about with a Simply Red number in the early stages that was really the beginning of the end as far as I was concerned.

If you think about his sing-off song at the end of Sunday's show - there really wasn't that much singing required either.

Obviously would rather see the back of John and Edward first though.

Being meek is soooo overated. I don't think that Danyl is even that cocky. the twins are much more cocky and deluded.

don't normally watch X-factor but just caught some of it - saw Danyl come out and arse up his last song and he just looked devastated - he walked off stage with the body language of a man who feels hated

Pearshaped did you see the Swan pub on the Xtra Factor Saturday night? They did Danyl's 'family and friends' bit which is worrying because that usually means the producers think they're on their way out . I think the tide may have turned though he now has the sympathy vote and fans no longer think he's safe.

Like you say, I think people have stopped being quite so nasty about him, which is slightly ironic, as his singing on Saturday was probably the worst performance he has given so far. Hope he gets his mojo back for next week.

I think the bit on the xtra factor was in an attempt to cheer him up. Was not comfortable viewing watching him sing on Saturday.

With the public voting for the twins, and people suggesting Danyl is "more hated than Hitler" I do question the logic and sanity of the public!

Can I chip in too? I think Danyl has a fantastic voice, very versatile, very powerful, It was awful to watch him appearing at the weekend, he was a shadow of himself. I agree that others have had bad press too (though to Cowell,any press is good press) and he needs to pick up his game. I can't see the cockiness either - he is a drama teacher = he can perform, he can act it all out and work the stage. He can't half sing. Most solo singers ooze confidence. its the way they have to be.
Whether or not people like his tongue (?!), he is by far the best singer/performer, its as obvious as in Leona's year.
And no, am not from Arborfield,nor anywhere near!

I don't like him (as a singer, I know nothing about him as a person!) because though I think he's a great singer I find him boring.

I don't know why he's accused of being overconfident and cocky, never seen any sign of that.

So despite singing brilliantly for the first couple of weeks he was criticised for being cocky and ended up in the bottom 2, then last week he was all dejected, sang out of tune (for a bit) and allegedly got the highest vote. What should Mr Cowell be advising him to do this weekend?
If he ends up in the bottom 2 with one of the girls he's stuffed because Dannii is the only other judge supporting him. Hopefully it won't come to that.

He needs to claim he has a sore throat. It worked for Lloyd, and Diana Vickers got a week off last year. I think a few of the others are already coming down with sore throats, so he needs to get one - fast!

Only just come across this thread but PMSL at MmeGoblin's Cilla Black quote, so true! She is a right plastic scouser but like Paul O'Grady, keeps the accent going as that is all that people are interested in.
