Here's one prediction www.predict09.eu/default/en-us/state_analyses.aspx#united

Cheeringly, it reckons that the BNP won't win a seat. Here's hoping.

She did specialise in fashion journalism, maybe they didn't cover off politics! I was disgusted and we argued discussed it all the way to the o2 (from Surrey, so a good hour) and she certainly won't be under any illusions now.

Can't remember magenta but it is on the bbc coverage so probably on the website?

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2009 22:26

Is it not? I think it is.

daftpunk · 07/06/2009 22:27

Ah right, I see, Len.

Does it, y'know, matter? Seems an odd thing for journos to give much of a fuck about in the circs (fascists advance across Europe, crisis in domestic politics, financial meltdown, PM staggering around with daggers in his back etc)

franca...no it isn't, no country can keep letting people in...it's a strain on housing/hospitals/schools..etc.

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:30

Ahh, fashion journalism Now I understand...

Kitten, why was your mother giving speeches then? I know what you mean about needing time to think. My mother was much surer about her beliefs than I am.

at Len being obsessed with Glenys.

In Europe it's the racist, fascist parties that make their n 1 policy to not let immigrants in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/06/2009 22:41

Mum was a parliamentary candidate. She was also young, very attractive and very noticed by the press. How she gave it up - bit complicated but she still cares deeply.

SomeGuy · 07/06/2009 22:42

Looks like BNP have lost N West but won Yorkshire.

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:43

Yes, franca's right that there tends to be a correlation between racist parties and anti-immigration measures.

Anti-immigration measures in themselves need not be racist (although they are, pretty much by definition, anti-foreigner. And I don't mean the soft rock group.)

But where people introduce immigration controls, they tend to include economic barriers - ie, countries are almost always keener to let in folk who have already made a bit of money, or have some professional experience under their belt.

And there's a correlation between those with money/professional training and white people - because most of the world's affluent areas are majority white.

I heart David Dimbleby. Would love him to be my Grandad.

Wonderstuff · 07/06/2009 22:46

I have the BBC on now but I really don't understand what on earth is going on. Why is it so complicated and dull?
I voted green, though was intrigued by the Roman party wtf??

daftpunk · 07/06/2009 22:46

franca....it is not a racist/fascist opinion to say our country can't cope with anymore immigrants....where will we put them? ...who's going to support them all?....it's sensible to say enough is enough...or do you think we should just let anyone enter this country?

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2009 22:47

Thanks policy. I could never be so articulate
"NIght, it's late here... and tomorrow I'll have to face Italy's results...

daftpunk · 07/06/2009 22:49

omg..lol @ anti-foreigner....they were crap!

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2009 22:49

Daft, I'm in Italy. I was a luxury immigrant in your country for 8 yrs... I honestly don't think we can stop immigration. I still haven't heard a reasonable policy from a non racist party, at least here in Italy.

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:50

Labour might get about 8 per cent in the SE and not even get a seat!

Possible Green gain in eastern region

Fraid I'm giving up. Its clearly going to be a loooooong night and I don't think I'll miss much by getting some sleep in the mean time. Back tomorrow

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2009 22:50

Ewe · 07/06/2009 22:51
