Here's one prediction www.predict09.eu/default/en-us/state_analyses.aspx#united

Cheeringly, it reckons that the BNP won't win a seat. Here's hoping.

Can't believe UKIP got 21% of the vote in Hull. At least it wasn't BNP.

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:07

Also predicted that Labour will come 5th in South East

What's your background then Kitten - common-or-garden politics geek, or something more specialised?

Is there any order to how results are announced? Set times? I really want to find out the NW results before I go to bed, but am flagging....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/06/2009 22:10

local political activist who is taking a bit of a break from politics to tackle real local issues from a community campaign perspective!

daftpunk · 07/06/2009 22:10

labour will have to take notice of all the votes the far-right parties are getting..

Oh and on the BNP note, last night on my way to Britney Spears (she was awesome) in the car with one of my friends, we started talking about politics. She didn't actually vote but couldn't see the problem with voting BNP as they just wanted to stop immigrants coming in.

My friend genuinely didn't think they were a racist misogynistic bunch of arseholes (biased, moi?) and she is a very intelligent girl who has a first degree in journalism. I have been astounded at the ignorance I have seen over recent weeks regarding BNP.

Ewe - do you know what the BNP actually got in Hull? Mother was out leafleting against them for months.

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:15

LOL at Britney I just can't compute your anecdote about your friend Ewe (not saying I don't believe it, just saying I can't get my head around someone with a degree in journalism not knowing the BNP are racists).

That sounds interesting, Kitten

Yank, I think the NW result is supposed to be 11.30ish, I'm afraid.

Not very policywonk
What draws you into a political interest?

francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2009 22:19

Isn't wanting to stop immigrants racist? I'm at your friend Ewe. But at Britney

policywonk · 07/06/2009 22:20

What's the problem with Glenys, Len?

Kitten - my mother, basically. Great big socialist feminist political obsessive that she was.

OP posts:
daftpunk · 07/06/2009 22:21

franca.....no, wanting to stop immigration is not racist.

lol policywonk. Debates at home were what got me started, and seeing my Mum give speeches, she was amazing. I can't debate like her - she is fast with her retorts. I need time to think.
