she educated herself

she learned her lesson

she apologised and meant it

I AM a fan of Jade

I like her a lot and feel much sadness at this vibrant and humour full life cut short

beanie, yes, that is the likelier of the two interpretations...

daftpunk · 06/03/2009 11:29

aitch...how many people are famous for doing nothing?....jade didn't even win BB did she? (can't remember)...i don't think i could name 1 other person from BB...so maybe jade just had something people liked.

Threadworm · 06/03/2009 11:31

...but it wasn't talent or achievement.

Yes there are lots of slebs like Jade -- famous for nothing, or big tits which amounts to the same. Doesn't make it any better.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 11:33

You see... as far as being a victim of the press goes I think initially she was. When the papers were all calling ehr a pig while she was still in teh house she was certainly being victimised and bullied. Also when she was involved in teh Racism row she seemed to be blamed a lot more than the other two who were a whole lot more racist IMO.

I remember in the 1980's when Boy George attempted to 'befriend' the press by being open with them and then having it back-fire on him completely.

I think in Jade's case her decision to let the press into her life has been for different reasons throughout her career. Presently her main reason for inviting them in is to make money, and she's never lied about that. However I still think it's possible to be a victim of the press even if you have invited them into your life.

morningsun · 06/03/2009 11:34

reporters reporting anything to make a paper sell doesn't make it right,i mean pornography and prostitution sell..

noddyholder · 06/03/2009 11:35

It is a sad reflection on society though when someone who thought east angular? was abroad has made a living from this ignorance. And intelligent young people doing good in the community and academically are never recognised and often ridiculed.

morningsun · 06/03/2009 11:38

yes and teenagers of about 15 follow all this rubbish and their sole aim in life seems to be ..famous for doing nothing!

DaisyMooSteiner · 06/03/2009 11:38

The media are only as powerful as they are because we let them be powerful. If nobody wanted to read about Jade or see pictures of David Cameron and his wife leaving hospital, there would be no market and there would be no story. When I read that some paper (The Mail?) had published pictures of the Camerons leaving hospital, my first instinct was to Google it and have a look, but I stopped myself because I believe that if I'd done so I would share some responsibility for that picture even existing.

We, as a society, only have ourselves to blame for the whole schleb-phenomenon, and like Aitch it really worries me that the no-holds barred coverage that people like Jade actively encourage is spreading to those who don't want it.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 11:39

but she HAS worked hard in her own way. I doubt very much that all those years she was getting up and just watching money fall into her lap. Yes she is paid a lot more for doing a lot less but then isn't David Beckham.

Not every story in the press or every picture of jade goody would have made Jade Goody money. The vast majority of the stories and pictures wouold have made other people a lot more money. A lot of them will be untrue.

Tamarto · 06/03/2009 11:40

Their dad was a 'reality star' also. He moved on, he could complain about press intrusion as he doesn't court them in the same way Jade has/did.

Fair play to anyone who makes money from it but really don't go complaining about the very thing that gives you your bread and butter!

beanieb · 06/03/2009 11:41

Oh - I agree Daisy, it's down to people like me who DO buuy OK and Hello. I choose to buy those magazines for different reasons (fashion all the way to just having something to read on the train) and that's my perogative really. I don't buy them to specifically read about Jade Goody or Jordan.

morningsun · 06/03/2009 11:42

i should say i blame the tabloids not the individuals.
i'm talking in general on this thread now not about jade herself who i don't think its right to discuss really in her condition.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 11:44

Has jade Goody complained then? Must read back.

daftpunk · 06/03/2009 11:45

exactly beanieb.

Tamarto · 06/03/2009 11:47

I have no idea, i was talking generally, rather than her specifically.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 11:47

have checked back - I can't see where anyone has linked to Jade saying she is being victimised by the press....

morningsun · 06/03/2009 11:48

nice

2shoes · 06/03/2009 11:57

beanieb don't be silly, of course she is a victim to cancer. I was talking about selling herself to the highest bidder.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 12:01

I wasn't being silly I was just unsure but I can see now that you weren't saying she isn't a victim full stop.

thanks for clarifying.

2shoes · 06/03/2009 12:02

I used the word silly in a light hearted way as I assume no one would really think I meant that

GypsyMoth · 06/03/2009 12:03

Did you know you can take a short course in 'being a reality star'?! Heard it on radio one the other day! £79 based in London, and at the end you get to meet a minor reality celeb. The world is going mad as someone did say here that young people aspire to be on these shows, with no other ambition.

beanieb · 06/03/2009 12:04

oh - silly me I'm taking words too literally again!

beanieb · 06/03/2009 12:05

and apology accepted

Lemontart · 06/03/2009 12:05

beanieb - and yet I bet that there are a lot of people that do get enticed by the leading cover story and buy them specifically for the celeb info and personal lives. I know my mum does. She bought the mag with the wedding in while out shopping with me. She said that she doesn?t usually buy that particular magazine but felt so sorry for Jade that she wanted to "do her bit" by buying a copy so the proceeds could go to Jade !?! No amount of trying to explain the concept of celebrities being paid for the article and photos went in. She truly believes that the magazine are acting like a charity and donating the sales funds to her boys!!
