did you read this too?

BananaSkin · 25/02/2009 23:36

Bastards at the Standard have a photo of them coming home from hospital today. What sort of way is that to earn a living?

elkiedee · 26/02/2009 00:53

Riven, sorry to hear that your dd is in hospital, hope you have better news soon.

Oh Riven, you do so well. I thought of you too when I heard this on the news (and remembered your thread about the bicycle wheelchair!). The photographs of the Cameron family together were so poignant and filled with love-what a lovely family they are-I hope the media leave them alone.

oliviasmama · 26/02/2009 02:53

desperately desperately sad

ninedragons · 26/02/2009 04:27

I cannot believe that the poor family has been papped at a time like this.

The press really can be scum.

cashmeremafia · 26/02/2009 05:47

I've just seen a picture of the Camerons and Sam's face is contorted with anguish Why can the press not leave them alone?? I'm so sad for them that Ivan has passed away and I admire the strength, understanding and love they have shown in dealing with his illness. I pray for them that God will give them strength and watch over them in these dark times.

cashmeremafia · 26/02/2009 05:54

Riven, just read about your dd. I hope she will recover and you will get good news soon. Thinking of you and your loved ones.

PottyCock · 26/02/2009 07:11

Horrendously sad. Poor family.

winnie09 · 26/02/2009 07:22

so sad

bobthebuddha · 26/02/2009 10:23

That photo's not just in the Standard, but having asked what possessed them to print it , this came back;

"Dear Ms xxxxxxx,

The decision to publish the picture was not taken lightly and we consulted
with Mr Cameron's private office before publication. They said they would
raise no objections. Thank you for your correspondence.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Bordiss
Acting Editor
Evening Standard"

I can't speak for the family or private office, but printing that photo seemed wrong. The picking over of this story and Jade Goody's decline is just ghoulish, but hey, it sells papers and there seems to be a massive public appetite for it.

oliviasmama · 26/02/2009 11:47

What a bunch of heartless fucking bastards, I don't care whether or not they consulted Mr Cameron's private office, this is possibly the most heartless the papers could have done.

oliviasmama · 26/02/2009 11:48

heartless thing...

JustKeepSwimming · 26/02/2009 12:58

Anyone else read this
mentions little details of life, brought tears to my eyes.

georgimama · 26/02/2009 13:46

That photo of David and Samantha Cameron is all over the front covers of the papers today.

Bastards. Can't they leave people alone?

What goes through these people's heads - Oooh, let's get a photo of the Camerons walking back to their house after leaving their dead child at the hospital, I wonder what her face will look like?

What the fuck do you think it will look like you parasites.

Saltire · 26/02/2009 13:57

I emailed MNHQ and asked them if they would send a message of condolence from all Mumsnetters

Habbibu · 26/02/2009 14:22

Thanks, Saltire - that's a lovely idea.
