OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:24

violet, has your child hacked into your account? you seem suddenly very petulant and prone to tantrums.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/02/2009 21:24

To be honest, I'm not sure I WANT to know what the situation actually is. I am one of those that likes to keep an open mind about things that have been reported in the press. If I do learn at some point that actually he WAS having a proper affair with that woman, and he WAS sneaking around using his kids as cover, then, god, my faith in human nature will take a big hit. Would someone REALLY be that devious as to take their kids along on a "date" like that?

Desiderata · 21/02/2009 21:25

Sorry, tinks, but you sound like a twat to me.

And before long, you'll be an OLD twat

staggerlee · 21/02/2009 21:26

Yup violet. You don't read enough lurid tabloid crap.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/02/2009 21:27

Has everyone been drinking on here tonight?

Tinker, you sound like Cod.

violethill · 21/02/2009 21:29

Clearly staggerlee. I'll have to start subscribing to the DM and believing every word they print.
Then I'll turn into a vitriolic man hater like some of the others posting on here

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:31

good post btw, curly. the last two. despite what violet may like to think cos she's secretly getting off on it, this has been a fairly low-key thread i think. some discussion about the media (which is where i came in, as i said) and some discussion about how we feel about accidents/negligence/culpability. it keeps threatening to turn philosophical, or would if we could keep the 'i am considerably better than yewe' crowd at bay.

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:32

name them, violet, the vitriolic man haters. name them.

and i do think you should apologise for your nasty comment re me hating that poor misbegotten bastard.

violethill · 21/02/2009 21:33

Yeah Aitch. I'm really getting off on feeling sympathy for bereaved parents. You really are beyond a joke now. If you want to feel less sympathy for one bereaved parent than another, go ahead.

Fuck me, Violent. Put the bottle down.

No one on this thread is a man hater. No one has suggested it.

You won't apologize to Aitch, even though you should.

My guess is that when you've sobered up, you'll simply change your name and start all over again.

If I could change MN in one respect, it would be that folk couldn't do that.

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:39

i'm not saying i want to, in fact i'm surprised at myself as i said before. i'm normally a pretty straight down the middle kind of person on these things.

i'm saying i do feel more sympathy for her because not only did she find out her child was dead, she found out her husband's carelessness because he was having an affair was a contributing (i would say the contributing) factor.

you are being obtuse, i fear. and pompous. and rude. and you know it. but, how was it you phrased it... if you want to go on being obtuse and pompous and rude, go ahead.

violethill · 21/02/2009 21:43

I am not drunk and I have no intention to name change Desiderata, so perhaps you would like to apologise for your insults?

No, thought not.

My view is that the bereaved parents are equally deserving of sympathy. My view is also that the DM peddles shite, and anyone who believes everything written in it is very misguided.

Some people want to 'ration' sympathy, or feel differing levels of sympathy, without knowing the family or all the facts.

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:45

oh givvus a break. do you honestly think that you're the only clever person on this thread and the rest of us are all brainwashed troglodytes?

Desiderata · 21/02/2009 21:45

The initial link was to The Telegraph.

violethill · 21/02/2009 21:46

Well that makes it so much better then, The Telegraph! ROFL

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:47

it's a fucking national news story... the reason people are linking to the DM is that it's highly indexed and ranked by google, not cos they think it's the country's premier newsgatherer...

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:49

actually, scratch that, it's an international story.

violet you're being a bit silly now.

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:53

bbc report on rescue

'sea was as high as it gets', says witness.

god, how awful. a moment of terrible madness.

Desiderata · 21/02/2009 21:54

Well, you just look at yourself, girl.

The fact that the Daily Mail printed a news story about a parent who took their hands off a pram on a 1:4 gradient that leads right down to the sea makes it a crock of shite.

Not true.

Sensational reporting.

Typical Daily Mail, even though it was the Telegraph the OP linked to.

It seems to me that you're trying to court some 'right on' friends here.

Weakling.

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:56

but i'm totally right on, desi, and you KNOW it.

violethill · 21/02/2009 21:57

I have no idea what you are on about now Desiderata. 'Right on friends'? 'Weakling'? Bizarre.....

If I was less charitable I'd assume you'd be on the bottle

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2009 21:59

so anyway... the BBC a good enough news source for ya, vi?

and btw you should see the size of dd2 now... she's enormous! (and before you ask no i don't know what she weighs but she's 4 mos corrected and in some 3-6 mos clothing so that must be about right).

Desiderata · 21/02/2009 22:00

Oh, I know you're a grauniad, Aitch.

One of the nicer ones, it must be said.
