You mean Piaf? Please! You are becoming addled, honey. Go to bed. See you again soon. Night.

Desiderata · 25/02/2009 00:37

Ah, Pan

The glorious, incomparable Aye-deet!

That's why I love you.

Because you love her.

Night to you too.

Desiderata, nice try but having you call me a "pompous twat" just convinces me I'm doing something right.

btw, if you don't read the newspapers (either in print or online) does that mean you are making judgements about who is at fault without even that much information?

Desiderata · 25/02/2009 22:22

Ah! I make judgements based on nothing all the time, Ms.

I do, however, think you're a rarified snob if you think that everything you read in the papers is a load of bolleaux.

There must be an element of truth, or there would be no story, no?

AitchTwoOh · 26/02/2009 10:00

this paranoia that nothing printed in the newspapers is true is a bit lentil-weavery and embarassing imo.

MsHighwater · 27/02/2009 22:17

Desiderata, the whole point is that the only thing we can be quite sure of is that a little girl died and her brother might have done so, too, while in the care of their father and a woman who was not their mother. Most of the rest might or might not be true. I find the rush to assume the worst repugnant and those who rush to judge equally distasteful. If that's snobbery, rarefied or otherwise, I can live with that.

I am not assuming that everything printed in the newspaper is untrue. I'm just not happy to accept it uncritically.

Your argument is no more nor less than "There's no smoke without fire". Are you really trying to put that forward as a rational, considered view?

The inquest is ongoing.

The cause of drowning was indeed letting go of the pushchair to kiss the mistress.

It also states that the children were not strapped in properly and the brake was not on.

The parents are now separated, with the father living with the mistress. No surprise she hasn't forgiven him really. The circumstances really couldn't have been any worse.
