I am not a big fan or anything, and I don't feel more sorry for celebrities than for anyone else, but it all seems such a terrible waste. Hope for a miracle, as thats what it will take now, apparently.

Blimey, poor woman. So young. Poor children.

wannaBe · 04/02/2009 12:19

OHM I dont think it's necessarily a case of people needing to distance themselves, but generally when someone goes through a bad time people say "oh how sad/how terrible" and some would even go so far as to say "what a lovely person she is/was" even if they were slagging that person off during the times they were healthy. At least those who openly admit they are not fans of hers/don't like her aren't being hypocrits.

As for Cheryl cole, I guess the difference is that what Jade did was done publically, on national television, whereas Cheryl cole was merely in the news - people read about it but didn't see it happen for themselves, iyswim? I do think that would make a difference to the perception you have of someone.

And Cheryl Cole was convicted, has served her sentence (whatever that was, community service/fine/I have no idea), should she really be held accountable for that for the rest of her life?

RaspberryBlower · 04/02/2009 12:19

I was initially cynical and assumed that it probably wasn't as bad as they were making out. I don't tend to believe much that the media says.

I feel ashamed of myself now for thinking that. She's so young, it's very sad.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 04/02/2009 12:21

Good point about John Diamond chocolatey

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 04/02/2009 12:25

I'm not saying that Cheryl Cole - or anyone including Jade - should be held accountable for the rest of her life. I just think it's interesting how society judges people according to how they look. Many people will never forgive or forget what Jade did but the other girls in the BB house seem to have been allowed to get on with their lives without the incident always being brought up - and they happen to be more attractive than her. I think it's also a class issue - Lord Snowdon has fathered quite a few children by different women into old age but his class protects him from negative comments which would be hurled at him if he were working class.

NAB09 · 04/02/2009 12:30

I think people need to move on from CBB. The person she offended has forgiven her and it isn't our business. This young mum is fighting for her life and no one should forget that.

If by keeping it in the media she saves one life and can make money for her sons, then good for her.

HolyGuacamole · 04/02/2009 12:31

for Jade and her poor kids

PrimroseHall · 04/02/2009 12:52

OHM, I agree about the 'I'm not a fan but..' posts. It's not necessary and I don't think it makes you a hypocrite to express sympathy for someone you wouldn't ordinarily have much time for.

This is the first I've heard of this since she was told on BB. I'm shocked and sad for her, can't imagine how it must feel to be given that news.

I think Jade is the right sort of person to make certain people think about keeping up to date with smears. In my environment (HA estate) she's pretty much girl next door material. I've been putting off my smear for years, but hearing this awful news has made me book a smear for next week.

Marne · 04/02/2009 12:54

Very sad , she's the same age as me, i couldn't begin to imagine what she is going through .

Lulumama · 04/02/2009 12:56

prognosis is poor, but still a 40 % chance of pulling through. not great odds, but surely there is some hope there?

every mother, well, every parent's biggest nightmare, to contemplate dying before your children.

regardless of anything she has done or said, she is facing a horrific time, as are her boys

as someone said earlier, it is good that smear tests and sexual health will be getting a boost, but what a high price to pay

Peachy · 04/02/2009 12:59

Lulu on news it said chances have gone from 40% to just how long can I live (obv rough quote of what she said) as ssecondaries found in liver, groin and elsewhere.

I thought they said they can only help prolong her life (they cant cure it)

compo · 04/02/2009 12:59

also agree good point about John Diamond chocolate and other people in the media - Jane Tomlinson, Gloria Hunnifrod's daughter, no one judged them

compo · 04/02/2009 13:00

Jade has already said if the worst happens their dad, Jeff Brazier will have the boys

Lulumama · 04/02/2009 13:01

oh dear, peachy, that sounds v v v poor.

FairLadyRantALot · 04/02/2009 13:08

It is so sad, she is so young and yes, her poor boys...

Vev · 04/02/2009 13:19

Poor Jade and poor, poor boys. No mummy ever wants to leave their children.

Stretch · 04/02/2009 13:23

Cancer in the liver is very bad isn't it?

notnowbernard · 04/02/2009 13:24

Cancer in the liver is not good at all

It usually means terminal

donnie · 04/02/2009 13:29

yes - cancer of the liver is pretty final. Actually very, very final .I feel for Jade Goody.

What I really hope is that the press will leaver her children and their dad alone when it is over and let them have their privacy. Somehow, though , I fear this won't happen.

Peachy · 04/02/2009 13:29

It does yes, we were taught that liver and pancreas were urgent supprt cases for that very reason.

OhHowMarvellous · 04/02/2009 13:36

I had a boyfriend who was subsequently dxed with liver secondaries to bowel cancer. He is still alive and travelling the world, that was roughly 5 years ago.

NoShitSherlock · 04/02/2009 13:38

I am a Jade fan I have to say. Poor Jade my heart goes out to her and her family. I too cried when I read the story this morning. I am the same age as her and its scary to think this could happen to me. She is just far too young

CharleeheartsherChains · 04/02/2009 13:40

It is so sad, her poor, poor children, i hope she gets her mirical although by what the news is saying it seems unlikely.

I have asked everywhere for a smear (im 21) GUM/FPC/GP and they wont do one, they say that it is so common to get abnormal results at my age where my cervix is still developing and i am young that it may cause unnecissary worry and given my past mental health they aren't perpared to do it unless i show signs of needing one dine, i.e unusual bleeding/pain ect.

This has been the same with 3 different gp surgerys, if i want one looks like i will be going private which i cannot afford.
