I am not a big fan or anything, and I don't feel more sorry for celebrities than for anyone else, but it all seems such a terrible waste. Hope for a miracle, as thats what it will take now, apparently.

I think, could be wrong here, that Jade will continue to stay in the public eye for as long as she possibly can.

She wants to provide as much as she can, for her children, whilst she is still able to do so, and the only way she can do this, is by appearing on television and in magazines/newspapers.
I can not criticise her for doing so, as I know if I had a life limiting condition, I would want to do as much for my children's future as I possibly could.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 04/02/2009 11:35

Jade is living proof that the media - and a lot of the public - hate less attractive, working class women. She wasn't the only one to act stupidly in BB but the other girls were more attractive so their actions never get mentioned. She has made the best of a very bad hand dealt her by life. Poor girl.

ruty · 04/02/2009 11:37

dreadful, and how scary that she had cervical cancer, which could have been stopped if found earlier. Poor woman and her children.

madamekoto · 04/02/2009 11:40

I had my 1st smear when I was 19, I went to the docs for the pill and was offered one. It was my first sexual partner and I had only been sexually active for a month or so.

They found pre cancerous cells which I had laser treatment for within a couple of months.

This was in the 90s but imagine if I hadnt had one.

2pt4kids · 04/02/2009 11:42

So so sad. Reading the news report put tears in my eyes.
I too have just booked my smear test for next week. I got the letter about a month ago but have been putting it off a little bit. Sad stories like this really do make you realise when you are being stupid.

Stretch · 04/02/2009 11:42

She just seems so normal, but in the limelight. Apart from the racist thing, she's just the sort of person I could be friends with. We all say goofy things, just most of us are fortunate not to be famous and have it repeated constantly.

I agree extremelychocolatey, Danielle Lloyd behaved just as badly, but she is 'fit'

belgo · 04/02/2009 11:43

Poor woman.

PoloPlayingMummy · 04/02/2009 11:44

I'm not a big fan of the girl but you wouldn't wish this on anyone . Her poor boys.
She's the same age as me and the thought of my own son being without me is terrifying.

whitenoise · 04/02/2009 11:45

I think that in this situation she is RIGHT to keep going to the media. I too would be doing anything i possibly could to make sure i could provide for my children for as long as i could. Obviously, if i died then i can only provide for them financially. The media would only hound her for information anyway and i think that by her coming forward with news when she has it that she has maintained a balance where she is allowed to have her treatment relatively hassle free.

wannaBe · 04/02/2009 11:47

I criticise the tabloids for exploiting this though. And a society that pays money to read about someone else's pain and suffering, because let's be honest here, whatever is written in the papers over the coming months isn't going to be happy news is it? And yet there are people who are still prepared to pay to read it.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 04/02/2009 11:50

That is awful. Luckily, even though it didn't work out with Jeff Brazier, he always struck me as a decent guy and I think he will really come into his own as a great father.

(how do I know this )

It is incredibly sad, and if she's loud and uncouth and uneducated she's just soaked up her background in an inevitable way, the same as say Prince Harry is a predictable product of his background.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 04/02/2009 11:52

Wannabe, I think she started out envisaging the diary following her journey to recovery. I think she got an awfully brutal shock half way through this televised journey.

Peachy · 04/02/2009 11:53

I can see that wannabe but the flip side is the provision for her sons- I'd probably be playing it the same way tbh.

And though I know what poeple mean anout her not bieng the one to raise awareness i thin she quite posibly is. She's known to everyone over 8 (just checked this morning with ds1- 9, yup) and that's important. Cancer isn't a sin, and it's mnot unusual. Yet people still deny it or act as if you should hide away. Nope.

whitenoise · 04/02/2009 11:54

If she makes even one person get seen by their GP over worrying symptoms then she has done what she intended to do

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 04/02/2009 11:55

And, if in years to come her sons google her, I think there will be LOTS more recent, kinder less judgemental posts for them to read first.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 04/02/2009 11:57

As I said before, sadly society forgives people if they are attractive - look at the convicted thug Cheryl Cole.

Feenie · 04/02/2009 12:03

Well said extremelychocolatey.

belgo · 04/02/2009 12:06

good point extremelychocolatey.

OhHowMarvellous · 04/02/2009 12:07

I wish people would stop saying 'I'm not a fan but..' as though they need to distance themselves from the idea that anyone might associate their condolences with liking the poor girl.

I don't really judge you on whether you're a fan or not, only on whether you need to make a point of it at this moment in time.

OhHowMarvellous · 04/02/2009 12:08

It's like going to a funeral and saying 'well I never liked the old bugger'.

cali · 04/02/2009 12:10

How true extremelychocolately, her conviction for ABH has done her career no harm at all.
Funny how you never really hear about the assault these days

Can't condone Jade's behavior during celeb bb, but she wasn't the only one, yet she is the one who has been vilified in the press and on some forums.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 04/02/2009 12:15

John Diamond, husband of Nigella Lawson, who died of cancer, was a journalist who wrote about his illness every week in The Times. There was also a documentary on how it had affected his life - his wife and I think children were shown. He also wrote a book about it and probably got much work - maybe just different work - as a result of his illness. Differences - not a tabloid, documentary on BBC and they are solidly middle class - and journalists of course. I'm not saying that his case is exactly the same as Jade's but it's not a million miles away either.

PlumBumMum · 04/02/2009 12:16

Poor Jade and family
Shes only 27, so please anyone putting off their smear please go

ContainsMildPeril · 04/02/2009 12:16

Can you have a smear with a Mirena coil in? Or will i have to wait until it is swapped??

See - it's got me thinking.

She must be absolutely terrified.

cmotdibbler · 04/02/2009 12:18

yes, you can have a smear with a Mirena in
