Seeker.

OP posts:

Good! Glad you'll stick to your principles and check for intel products.

You also need to check all your pharmaceuticals for teva products.

Btw, which other counties do you boycott? Russia for Chechnya and Ukraine? China for Tibet and myriad humans rights abuses? Most Arab counties for their awful humans rights records?

Or is it only Israel?

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 05:25

It's also not clear what you want a detailed list of, maami.

Intel have a huge factory in kiryat gat in Israel. Produces most of their micro processors.

But you must have known that, what with your 'boycott' :)

maami · 04/09/2014 05:43

Since you are so eager to help...A comprehensive list of exported international israeli products please.....just incase my buycott app and other sources may have missed out... I could be more useful and help distribute it too if you like. Smile

I would feel disgusted if i found out even a penny was contributed to israel knowing that they are pathetic war criminals comitting ethnic cleansing.

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 05:50

You can do your own research.
But, yes, start with Intel and Teva pharmaceuticals to begin with.

Also google runs on an Israeli developed algorithm. Avoid!

Just wondered if you're boycotting other countries with far worse human rights records - like China for instance! Of course you're not. Double standards methinks.

maami · 04/09/2014 05:57

Is that all..? Comeon you can do better that

And here i was thinking you were going to help me out... With complete references an all rather than throwing random names about. Lol

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 05:59

And youre wrong that agriculture is big money in the settlements - it's not. The only ones i can think of with significant agriculture are in the Jordan Valley but they're pretty small.

So don't kid yourself that this is affecting the settlements, it's not.

Its also not going to significantly impact the israeli economy- no one is going to stop using Intelpprocessors or Israeli inventions.

At most, some innocent farmers will lose out.

Israel survived the Arab boycott (whose aim was to destroy Israel) , israelis lived without McDonald's, Pepsi and Dunkin Donuts. Losing some of the European avocado market isnt such a big deal compared to what Israel dealt with from 1948 to the 1990s.

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 06:02

And i thought you were serious about the boycott maami.

I guess not. But thats ok, you carry on with your 'boycott' of Israeli avocados and oranges and pat yourself on the back at to how ethical you are (while contributing tp the israeli economy whenever you fill a prescription! )

maami · 04/09/2014 06:05

I dont really care... My policy is Big or small... Boycott boycott boycott!!!!

All reports are indicating otherwise... Including the one i just posted earlier...So yes its working better than ever...so you can stop with the usual lies.Smile.

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 06:22

What do you mean by 'usual lies'?

Are you suggesting i'm a habitual liar? Hmm

What exactly is a lie, usual or otherwise?

That fruit and veg exports arent a big deal? That israel has been boycotted for most of its existence?

I still want to know if youre boycotting Russia and China as well? Since youre so moral Hmm

maami · 04/09/2014 07:01

Your claims that the boycott is not working are lies because all evidence I just posted show otherwise... The BDS has never been more stronger and successful ever. I am in awe!

as for a habitual liar.. I dunno. But I find its a must have quality for most pro Israelis policies in palestine.. As is the the lack of morals. And credibility. Deception and hasbara is the only way they can justify their daily killings of women and children. They live on their blood.

halfdrunkcoffee · 04/09/2014 07:53

I know emotions are running high but I wish we could have a civilised debate, acknowledge that there is fault on both sides, find common ground and have a constructive discussion on how things could change in the future - rather than hounding out anyone who offers a different perspective with cries of "genocide and child-killing apologist". Then when the thread moves on to asking if anyone who has lived on Israel can tell us about education there, there is no-one left who can answer.

Shakshuka I found your posts very interesting on the first of the other threads.

This pretty much sums up my view on the situation.

Anyway this is the boycott thread (getting a bit confused as there are so many I/P threads) so the above may be off-topic, sorry! I think boycotts may be effective in some cases if done sensibly. Norman Finkelstein (hardly a fan of Israeli policies) has expressed some criticism of the BDS movement so I will have a look online later to see if I can find it.

This article looks at how some Israeli and Palestinian tech companies are working together.

Bambambini · 04/09/2014 08:43

There is not fault on both sides, haven't you read these threads. Palestinians are always and have always been completely benign and innocent - being wiped out by evil Israel. It's completely black and white. Anyone who defaults from this opinion is immoral and EVIL. Simple!

maami · 04/09/2014 11:10

Thats right bambini. Finally we are getting somewhere!!

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 13:40

they live on their blood

Yes, they need their blood to bake matzo for Passover.

I thibk ive started to understand your motivation and why you boycott Israel but not russia or China

It might be hard to understand when you claim the absolute truth, but people may not agree with you and may not be liars. Very childish,

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 13:46

Halfdrunkcoffee

My views are very similar to yours.

It is a shame theres no forum to share and discuss ideas sensibly, I find myself having to hide threads when they get too nasty as theres no point and it's just unpleasant,

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 04/09/2014 13:50

I am allergic to avocados. I'm happy to boycott them. I don't buy them anyway.

Seriously, this is misguided at best.

maami · 04/09/2014 14:02

Tell me...Is that before or after you dismiss other people traumatic experience as bs..? Or the fact thst you justify the theft of palestinians land because their leader refused to accept camp david...?

I understood your views along time back....and they are anything but civilised.

Shakshuka · 04/09/2014 14:16

Your post also don't make any sense Maami. You're just ranting and rambling.

They're also rather bonkers.

I'm not going to bother engaging. You've shown the level of your debate wwith the 'need blood to live' comment and calling me a Nazi (!) on the other thread which i had to hide.

maami · 04/09/2014 14:23

The feelings very mutual. Feel free to hide this one too.

kissmyheathenass · 05/09/2014 20:28

in the interest of redressing the balance, I will buy more Israeli products in my weekly shop.

Anyone who is serious about a boycott should also avoid products from USA - anyone have an iphone? Or a Facebook account?

maami · 05/09/2014 20:43

We should take notes on boycotts from you because....?

RustyDalek · 05/09/2014 20:49

Am I being cynical to think that if boycotting hasn't worked in the five and a half years since this thread was started, it probably won't work now....

maami · 05/09/2014 21:14

Well if you actually read the thread.. I have updated it with reports to show that it is working brilliantly.. And that it has never been so effective.

If you want to know more.. Go to bds movement. Website.. And you will see progress update on a regular basis.

Shakshuka · 05/09/2014 22:24

Rather than the self congratulatory bds website, look at the objective increase in the GDP of Israel or the value of exports. Has one Israeli govtppolicy changed due to the boycott?
You can also look up the leviathan and tamar gas fields which will supply billions of dollars in exports (including to Europe) .

Personally I'd like to see change in Israeli policy. I'm not pro Israeli or pro Palestinian, im pro reaching a peace deal that respects the claims and needs of both sides.

The boycott is ineffective as it is simplistic and ignores the high value exports which are too difficult to be boycotted (hard to avoid Teva drugs or intel processors).

It also won't acheive anything, just increase the bunker mentality of many Israelis. It's no coincidence that this boycott is concentrated in Europe - there seems to be a direct correlation between the level of anti semitism and the level of the boycott.

It's also unfair as Israel is being singled out rather than countries with far worse human rightsrecords like rRussia or China? What about Qatar, Lebanon or Egypt? Why the obsession with Israel when far worse things are happening elsewhere?

SamG76 · 22/09/2014 15:37

More boycott news, which I'm looking forward to reading about on the BDS website:

www.timesofisrael.com/intel-to-spend-6b-in-israels-biggest-ever-tech-investment/

That makes up for a lot of herbs and kosher pickles....

Happy New Year to everyone
