If anyone is intersted.

It's at 12.30pm along Embankment, nearest tubes Embankment and Charing Cross.

It's being organised by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coaltion and numerous other groups.

I will bump this sporadically, but if anyone else would like to help promote this, plaese bump too.

I will be there.

I don't know about Donnie's views. I do know that this thread is now mysteriously about Holocaust denial, not about the Israeli Government's hideous and disproportionate response in Gaza. Which I presume was the intention,

None of us know about Donnie's views for certain Seeker. She declines assiduously to confirm them.

The thread only became of late about Donnie's views due to her absolute refusal to confirm she is not a holocaust denier. It need not have dealt with the issue at all had she have responded.

rev - thank you for confirming the element of anti - semitism in the anti Israel movement. I understand that you feel it is not the major reason - nevertheless you acknowledge its existance for which I thank you.

Donnie - we are waiting. Until you confirm or deny I strongly suspect that anything you say will not be treated with any weight or respect here at all .

combustibyulelemon · 06/01/2009 13:14

Why did Israel end up in 'Palestinian territory' in 1968?

slim22 · 06/01/2009 13:15

Had I not come accross LisaLisa before I would think SHE was the troll.

Lisa, I now remember very clearly some conversations we had a few months back, notably when you were organising a big dinner party?

Knowing a bit of background I understand that it is very difficult for you to be detached about such a debate.

As seeker said above: Those of us who oppose Israeli actions do so on political grounds, not religious or racial.
And I say this to you face disclosing publicly that I am a muslim by birth (albeit absolutely not practicing).

lisalisa · 06/01/2009 13:15

If she were not she would answer the question to confirm, no - why won't she? How do you know she isn't and what makes you suspect she isn't? HDs are very very rarely "rabid" ( to use her charming terminology) raving weirdos but, oddly, professors , doctors and other "upstanding " members of society. And mums too.

Why troll slim22 - I've been here since MN started actually [clears throat and assumes dignified air] Because I argue for the Israeli cause and I charge another poster with failing to answer a very very serious question indeed, I am a troll?

seeker · 06/01/2009 13:16

Lisa. Why won't you say why you think she is a Holocaust denier?

slim22 · 06/01/2009 13:20

Lisa, was just a stupid joke about trolling. The most passionate (seemingly) post often turned out to be trolls.

I know you are not

slim22 · 06/01/2009 13:24

yes, if you insist on full disclosure then we want to know what makes you say she is denies the holocaust ever happened.

TBH it's not so different from denying that Israel - Oh Irony- created gettos for the palestinians? ( Hold it I just said gettos and yes, what the hell! even systematic undermining of their nation's right to exist)

seeker · 06/01/2009 13:25

OK, you have now refused to answer a reasonable question 6 times too.

donnie · 06/01/2009 13:28

yes come on lisalisa - when you prove the holocaust denial link I will answer your question. It's not difficult is it?

lisalisa · 06/01/2009 13:34

Donnie and others - why must I justify asking a question? Why did I not ask rev to justify why she was asking me whether I support RHR?

A question is a question - many have been asked and answered stimulating debate. Surely you are all engaging in semantics wanting to know why I want to know.

She is obviously not going to answer. And we will all need to draw our own conclusions why. And those of you who support the palestinian cause should not rush too quickly to her defence. It's not a fragrant defence. In fact, the smell is horrific. Support the palestinian cause on other grounds if you feel this to be correct but don't rush to the defence of a poster who will not deny that she is a holocaust denier. You risk being engulfed by the muck with which she is tarred in her dumb insolence.

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 13:34

But the whole thing is an attempt to defelct attention away from a solutuion Donnie. Saying the Palestinian's are justofied and the Israeli's aren't - or the opposite.

Either they are both as justofied to fight for what they believe in - without the daft calls for Israel to do so with one hand tied behind its back - or neiher ort justifed. They are both equally brutilized,
traumatised and insane. There will never be any winner here. At the minute they both lose. For them to both win they have to just stop, let time take its course and beware any lunatic with a blood lust who attempts to use history as reason for more bloodshed.

Sputnik · 06/01/2009 13:37

Irony indeed.
Tzipi Livni has been denying there is any humanitarian crisis in Gaza. There is no water, electricity, little food, ambulances can't get around and hospitals are overflowing. Major infrastructure and civilian targets have been pulverised. People are dying.

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 13:37

Lisa Lisa, I many not agree with Donnie on some things, maybe many things, but I think the attepmt to cast her as a holocaust denier is totally dispicable. It's such a ludicrous and hysterical question - one that has nothing to do with the isue at hand - that I would also refuse to answer, nay, even engage with someone who was attempting such a cheap shot.

Maybe time to let this one die and all exit gracefully?

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 13:38

Hamas absolutely depend on their being a humanitarian crisis is Gaza, Sputnik.

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 13:39

there

Bubble99 · 06/01/2009 13:40

donnie. What is your opinion of the Hamas leader's call to kill Jewish children throughout the world?

slim22 · 06/01/2009 13:40

they dont depend on it so much as emanate from it

donnie · 06/01/2009 13:42

MT for what it's worth I actually agree with you on that one - there is indeed brutality and insanity on both sides. But Israel is streadfastly refusing to agree to a ceasefire despite worldwide calls for one. I heard on the radio that they bombed two schools where Palestinian civilians were sheltering during the night.

I also agree there are no winners here, which is why surely there MUST be dialogue with Hamas. There is absolutely no other way forward unless the Israeli objective is to blow all of Gaza all out of existence, in which case they are doing pretty well IMO.
