I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

I only voted for her because she was the only candidate who wanted to do things locally, it had nothing to do with their overall policies. There was a huge issue about planning in our area and she vowed to overturn it. I think a lot of people voted for that reason. It wouldn't have mattered which party was being represented as it was a local issue. I would not vote for them in a general election as I don't believe in their policies at all.

Rhubarb · 20/11/2008 13:50

I am constantly surprised at how many people will spout racist stuff to me in the belief that I will nod in agreement.

These range from conversations with other mums to people met in a pub. It's shocking because of the assumption that I feel the same way, because I wonder how often they've had that conversation with other people who have actually agreed with them.

I stop them in their tracks by pointing out that I have two black brothers (although one is half Asian so according to MamaDiva not 'black' but I'm buggered if I know how else to bloody describe him without being accused of racism myself!) and that I do not tolerate racism. I also have a special 'look' that I reserve for people like that. The look alone shuts them right up.

But I do get the feeling that there are more racists out there than we know about. Not just people who blurt out the wrong thing, but people who hold very strong and offensive opinions on the topic.

MrsMattie · 20/11/2008 13:54

I was heartbroken to hear this. I feel so sorry for those teachers (who could be teaching my kids), policemen (who could be responsible for keeping my kids safe) doctors (who could be treating my kids) and clergymen (wtf?!) who hold racist views, think my DH should back to his own country and that my kids aren't really British.

It would be such a shame if they suffered because of this leak .

Boo hoo.

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 13:54

I am just wondering if any of you that are stating that the BNP is disgusting, vile etc and members should be sacked, have bothered to look at their website and read their policies (but I am sure that you have not as you would not lower yourself to actually look into something before you have an opinion, would you??) .

I have been looking at it, precisely because they have been in the news and was shocked as I agreed with all their policies (deporting illegals - shock horror - is'nt that what our current Government is supposed to do ).

I don't know what they used to be like as I am not that old - but going on what their views are now, I say they make a lot of sense but then I am not a sheep and have not fallen for the propoganda that is spewed by New Labour.

Have a look for yourselves before you judge and would love to see if any of you can find any racist stuff on there?

lulumama · 20/11/2008 13:54

at the end of the day, if she had enough votes, she would have had a lot more power, and influence than you might be comfortable with, i can;t understand how you could vote for them and not agree with their policies, why not vote for another party?? that is how BNP etc gain power, coming across all kind and concerned about the local area, but really, their manifesto is chillinh

lulumama · 20/11/2008 13:56

have seen and read their policies, they were canvassing in our area recently

they are not what htey seem, they are hardly going to print we hate blacks/ asians/ immigrants all over their literature..

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 13:57

Oh and just for the record, I am married to an Eastern European of Muslim heritage but who chose to come to this country and make it his own (loves a cup o PG more than I do!)and does not have a problem with a party than stands up for people like us.

Rhubarb · 20/11/2008 13:58

NotFeelingNeighbourly - they were behind the riots in both Oldham and Preston. They put a call out on their website, texted loads of members and before you knew it, you had people coming up to Oldham as far away as London, just to riot and burn a few Asian cars.

lulumama · 20/11/2008 13:58

people like us? as opposed to people like them?

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 14:04

So lulumama how do you know that they do brainwashing, propoganda, sheep all spring to mind again .

Swedes · 20/11/2008 14:05

Is the list still available online. I'd like to see it.

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 14:05

How pathetic lulmama to jump on 'people like us' - are you a social worker or something? People like us, who are British and want to live in a British Britain.

ScottishMummy · 20/11/2008 14:08

yes i would like to know who "people like us are" too,can you give specific examples

Rhubarb · 20/11/2008 14:09

"people like us"? Fuck off!

My brothers were born in this bloody country. So you can piss right off.

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 14:09

Christ - you lot have got real problems.

Rhubarb · 20/11/2008 14:09

I notice you said nothing about the BNP enciting riots there.

lulumama · 20/11/2008 14:10

how do you know they don't?

voluntary repatriation/ send em home...

the riots rhubarb already mentioned

the fact that they are championing the UK for whites

hardly an inclusive and open armed party, accpeting of those that are different

they also discriminate agaisnt those with SN

and why would it be illegal for a police officer to be a member if their policies were inclusive and fair minded to all people of every creed and colour?

you are surely entitled to your view, as i am to mine, but i don;t believe for one minute the BNP has a basis of tolerance for all.

i am not particularly bothered about immigration, immigrants have always been scapegoated, i am more concerned with the amount of people who were born here who abuse the system...the problems of this country are not solely due to immigration and non whites.

why would the people on the membership list be posting all over blogs that they are scared they are going to lose their jobs , if the BNP is a tolerant and mainstream party..?

MrsMattie · 20/11/2008 14:10

NotFeelingNeighbourly- have you ever been to a BNP meeting? I have. I did a lot of investigative work into the BNP in a former job and they are truly a vile, opportunistic organisation who prey on people's fears in order to pedal their (imo) extremely nasty, right wing, racist ideologies. And to write off their history - 'I don't know what they used to be like' - is insane! They have always been a borderline Nazi organisation. They just have better PR these days.

And as for their website - well, i have no interest in looking at it right now. but I did get a charming leaflet through my door a couple of months ago that was basically a semi-literate rant against eastern European migrants. See, apparently the nignogs and the pakis and the yids are OK these days. Now it's the Poles who are the scum of society

Rhubarb · 20/11/2008 14:10

You've got PMT. Have you thought about Evening Primrose oil?

lulumama · 20/11/2008 14:12

oh, i am pathetic? and obviously a social worker, for picking up on that point.. eh?

how do you know i am white british?

i do not care to be lumped in as 'people like us' saying people like us automatically creates a divide.. not a view point i subscribe to

i take individuals as i find them, rather than resorting to insults ,perhaps you could form a cogent argument?

GinghamRibbon · 20/11/2008 14:15

I did think about that, but would say that it's pretty obvious that the BNP are never going to get in power. Who is going to vote for a party that is so full of hate apart from a few loonys. You would really have to hate people to vote for them. I think people have more on their minds than a few far right nutters who want to keep the UK white.

If their membership is 12000 then as a percentage of 70 million, it's just not going to happen. If this woman had got in and sorted out the local problem she wouldn't have go in again I doubt. I wouldn't have voted twice as this was very much a local protest vote.

That said. It's not illegal to belong to any party, so I can't understand why someone could lose their job over it. Really I can't. Whatever, your political leanings, as long as they don't affect your capacity to do your job, I just can't see it.

lulumama · 20/11/2008 14:18

then it is a wasted vote !

i cannot believe that a police office who was a member of the BNP would carry out his/her job impartially, when dealing with non whites/ immigrants etc.. you cannot possibly cut yourself off from your political affiliations and leanings for the hours you are at work, especially when you feel strongly enough about the issues of the party to actually join it

how can teachers teach different religions and tolerance if they are members of a hate driven party?

that is my POV, anyway

ScottishMummy · 20/11/2008 14:20

NFL,my experience of BNP is in A&E BNP unprovoked beat the crap black man.nasty viccious attack as they verbally abused him

GinghamRibbon · 20/11/2008 14:26

You are probably right about the wasted vote. The bloody planning went ahead anyway and a lot of local people lost out.

As I said, when you view how many people are actually members. It's a tiny proportion of real people. I haven't seen the list but how many of them are very old and will die eventually and how many of them have been put up as members by their parents (I understand that some are only 16) and will completely change their views once they get into the real world.

I read that their are 22 police officers on the list. That isn't a lot of police officers in the grand scale of things If their views are that strong I guarantee that this will be picked up by someone along the way and they will be sacked, for not carrying out their jobs properly.

As for teaching, I didn't think teachers were allowed to teach politics from their own point of view period. If they did in any way, shape or form they should be sacked.

NotFeelingNeighbourly · 20/11/2008 14:31

Explain then to an obviously PMTed little person like me, why in this politically obsessed society that we live in, the BNP are a not banned but are legal party?? but you can lose your job if you are a member .

Rhubarb - DH was not born here either arse. I was but how do you know that I am white??
