MMJ - enforced prostitution happens to women and children of all nationalities

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 26/09/2008 12:00

Well having watched the whole thing now on iplayer, they must have been on some heavy duty drugs. The police and medics seemed to think they were- and they must see it more than most of us. One person- yep I could buy some sort of medical reason for the delusion, but both of them?

hattyyellow · 26/09/2008 12:01

Oh God, that's awful. There must be something very very wrong with them to run into the traffic like that - that's not the action of someone sane and rational.

I have id twin girls - their poor families if they've had to watch that on tv.

Sidge · 26/09/2008 12:41

There were no drugs - the women went to hospital and drugs would have been tested.

Monkeytrousers - the women wouldn't necessarily have been tested for drugs in hospital - tox screens are very expensive and take ages to do and with so many 'adulterated' drugs on the streets they often don't know what to test for.

And if testing/finding out what (if anything) they had taken wouldn't affect their clinical treatment then it wouldn't have been done.

So they may well have been on something, but I guess we'll never know the whole story.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2008 12:44

shabster - - my 11 yr old ds was watching it too - I tried to explain to him about how the police men/women and poor driver would be affected by this - we were both very shocked

AnarchyAunt · 26/09/2008 12:50

The whole thing is desparately sad, for all involved. I feel huge sympathy for anyone affected by it.

But I don't really think it should have been screened tbh. Had drugs been involved, the programme would have taken the 'drug crazed lunatics' tack, which it didn't.

So its likely that they were severely mentally disturbed, and showing it on primetime TV, with no discussion around the issue (ie, what to do if you find someone in this state) was not very appropriate IMHO.
It does little to increase understanding around the issue.

hattyyellow · 26/09/2008 14:12

I agree, I can't believe they have screened it.

falcon · 26/09/2008 14:49

That was awful. I feel far worse though for the police officers and driver's who had the trauma of witnessing that and who's lives were endangered by those idiots.

I saw a woman get hit by the bus I was on once, well I say saw but I heard it really, I could see what was going to happen, and turned away and a second later heard the impact.

Thankfully she lived, though she had some injuries that may cause long term problems, it was entirely her fault, she'd ran right out in front of the bus as her taxi was on the other side of the road, and didn't look.

I felt sorry for her, but it was almost as awful for anyone who witnessed it, and the poor bus driver was traumatised.

One of the women has been charged with a murder that took place on the same day as the motorway incident.

scatterbrain · 26/09/2008 17:46

Really Yeni ? Where did you learn that ?

themildmannneredjanitor · 26/09/2008 17:48

really???

scatterbrain · 26/09/2008 17:49

Would totally explain why they were so keen to get away from the police though

misdee · 26/09/2008 17:51

really yemi? do u have a link?

Yeni · 26/09/2008 17:52

If you google her name which is apparently Sabina Eriksson you will get links to newspaper reports of both incidents.

Trafficcone · 26/09/2008 17:58

I can't believe people are arguing over this. It was clearly PCP!!!! Nothing else, not even head trauma induced 'madness' gives people that kind of strength. Having seen someone on PCP it was easily recognisable as someone else on this thread has said. The mentally ill don't behave like those women did and don't have superhuman strength.
Monkeytrousers, if the hospital did do a tox screen the women would have had to give permission to the BBC to share the results unless it was made public record during her trial. Do you really think the NHS would breach patient confidentiality by telling the film crew that or the BBC would break any privacy laws? They were deliberately very, very, vague about the causes and 'back story' and that was clearly for legal reasons as the 2 women were charged with offences. All the Police you saw in the programme said it was drugs and the Police don't normally guess wrong on things like that.

AnarchyAunt · 26/09/2008 18:01

Had she been charged with murder, surely the programme would not have been broadcast for legal reasons?

foxytocin · 26/09/2008 18:14

Youtube has this video loaded here by someone under the pseudonym Brits4Britain. At 6:02 for about 8 seconds, words to the effect of 'contrary to this scene.. it is being filmed in England' showing only black bystanders.

I wonder how those who loaded the video feel about the Swedes in it.

Do you think it ought to be reported to Youtube?

AnarchyAunt · 26/09/2008 18:18

Some of the comments are quite revolting too.

Doubt YouTube would do anything though tbh.

Monkeytrousers · 26/09/2008 18:24

lol traffic cone.

You have the inside track obvioulsy.

Someone with the same name does appear to have been charged with murder, though the reports are suspicious by their brevity

Monkeytrousers · 26/09/2008 18:25

Foxy, that doesn;t suprise me, the whole programme was borderline racist.

shabster

AnarchyAunt · 26/09/2008 18:36

The woman charged with a murder in Staffordshire was found after jumping off a bridge over the A50.

There's nothing reliable linking the women on the programme with this story (that I can find).

Yeni · 26/09/2008 18:44

I got this link from Digital Spy which seems to suggest it was the same woman

www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-16462190.html

FAQ · 26/09/2008 18:49

hmm - but according to the link I found the man was found murdered on the 20th MAy - and

"Police then received reports of a woman jumping from a bridge over the A50, sustaining two broken ankles and a fractured skull"

Now I'm assuming that this story is about the M6 incident.......and is on the 17th May

So either the poor murder victim lay undiscovered for 3 days (possible) and one of the twins made 2 suicide attempts (presumably the one that sustained head injuries - as the other was in hospital for 7 weeks) or this was a different Swedish woman.

FWIW - the only articles I can find are ones similar to this thread - where people are assuming a link between the two.

Actuall I've just found another article where Sabrina was charged with murdering him on the 20th May.....
