Why are they all shouting "Shame on You" towards the police - when it was the RNLI who brought them all to shore?

Surly they should be shouting this towards the lifeboat crews....?

That boat refused help from France ! Of course they did as in France they get a tent in a field or a hanger.
We roll or the red carpet, tracksuits, pyjamas, boxer shorts were all waiting for them in tents they’d put up to distribute stuff along with sandwich vans waiting.
Who is paying for all that? and it is only the tip of the iceberg.
The mood is people have had enough and it’s widespread I’d say.
No ones knows who they are but most are coming from third world countries very different to ours in their outlook and behaviour especially towards women.

The rescue itself must have cost a fortune.

Just adding and agreeing to your comment that Hitler got to power because times were economically bad.

Hitler promised to take under state control banks and industries, he wanted greater state control over education and other services to the public. He was anti capitalism. He blamed all of Germany's problems on millionaires (or billionaires as they are called today) and on Jews (or Zionists as they are called today.

Now which political party in the UK does that most closely match. I'll give you a clue that their leader is also a vegetarian like Hitler.

The cockroach!!

It is unacceptable for RNLI crews , who are volunteers risking their lives to help those in distress, to face any kind of criticism or threats for doing their well respected and appreciated service.

It is also unacceptable that the migrant dinghy after requesting assistance then refused to accept it from the French rescue vessels opting to continue their journey to UK waters. As such the migrant dinghy then dictated where they were rescued, when they were rescued, by whom they were rescued and into which country they were brought ashore. In addition to creating greater risk to the RNLI crews this effectively turned the service provided by the RNLI from a rescue service to a taxi service

And Conservatives had been in power for 14 years.

There was a Boris wave. Once when a lot of Eastern European citizens came over and another post Covid. When they tried to bring in an intitative to allow processing outside the country your party vetoed it. It now continues unabated and with the help of volunteers.

Rwanda was going to cost £541 million for 300 asylum seekers.
£1.8 million per asylum seeker.
Cleverly called it 'batshit'.

It’s almost as though it’s a well thought out tactic by organised criminals isn’t it. Weird.

It may well have been batshit but my comment was to a previous poster who inferred the Conservatives did nothing to deter illegal migration over their tenure.

Alongside the boats that time there was also a huge influx of people coming in under student visas and not going home. I assume those people are still here.

It's a difficult problem to solve.

So much easier to just blame other people.

Numbers arriving are incredibly low in a deterrent system. Plus people moved voluntarily to ROI which is very low cost.

Which returns to my point - was this a rescue of a vessel in distress or was it a co ordinated (between France and UK) transfer of migrants to RNLI at the mid point and the RNLI then providing transport back to the UK?

Are suggesting the RNLI was acting on some sort of instruction from the government to deliberately bring the migrants to the UK? Why and how would that happen?

Because soem dangerous loon on social media with an agenda to stoke division said so?

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 10/09/2026 15:06

1dayatatime · 08/09/2026 18:13

I think there is a distinction to be made here. The RNLI do an amazing job in saving lives from vessels/ people in distress at sea. However what happened here was that the migrants set off from just west of Cherbourg, the French RNLI equivalent then met the migrant dinghy on the English side of the maritime divide (it did not shadow them or offer assistance or was anywhere near them or try to stop them).

Once on the English side, the migrants were transferred to two RNLI vessels and brought ashore. Which does raise the question why didn't the RNLI vessel simply return them to France - it was the same distance?

So the question is where does the RNLI stop becoming a well respected and much needed rescue service and starts to become a maritime taxi service?

why didn't the RNLI vessel simply return them to France - it was the same distance?

  • Because the RNLI vessel would have to sail back from France afterwards across the world's busy shipping channel, putting the crew in needless danger.
  • Because the RNLI are not immigration officers and this isn't their fucking job.
  • Because the RNLI don't have permission to land rescuees in France.

Why didn't the French maritime rescue service vessel pick the rescuees up and take them to safety in France? That'a the question you should be asking.

If we re-join the EU can the migrants be sent back to France or the French authorities have more responsibility to keep them there? (I've lost track over the years).

Yes.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 10/09/2026 15:09

Because the migrants didn’t want to be taken to safety in France. And what the migrants want it seems, the migrants largely get.

1dayatatime · 08/09/2026 21:29

I completely respect that the RNLI does an amazing job saving lives of people in danger at sea.

However in this case the dinghy got into trouble and asked for assistance some 13 miles off the French coast when one of the two outboard engines broke down. A French vessel offered to rescue them by taking them off the dinghy and back to France. This offer was refused by all on the dinghy.

Instead they continued their course to the UK under one engine. Once in UK waters they accepted to be taken off the dinghy and onto RNLI vessels.

So if this was a genuine rescue with people genuinely at risk (which imo an overloaded dinghy, with only one of two engines working in the middle of the busiest shipping lanes - is genuinely at risk) then the migrants should have accepted the French offer of rescue. Instead they chose to put their lives at greater risk by continuing their journey to UK waters to be picked up by the RNLI.

Which returns to the original question of whether this was a rescue of people in danger at sea or a mid channel taxi service.

People die making these crossings all the time. They would rather drown than not come here.

The French vessel stood by in case the boat went under, but the crew aren't going to put themselves at risk trying to offload unwilling people from an overcrowded inflatable dinghy. The RNLI then picked them up because it would have been immoral to let them continue on such a boat.

That's what I was trying to get you to think of, when I asked that question about why the French didn't pick them up.

As long as people would sooner die trying to get get here than give up, this will keep happening.

The French maritime rescue aren't the police. They have no powers to detain people. They cannot force a vessel's crew to abandon it.

Yes I’m not arguing with any of that. The migrants refused so it ended there.

Unless you care whether people drown, which the RNLI very much does.

They care so much about people drowning that they were also on standby to save the protestors attacking the RNLI.
