I don’t understand how the officers could not tell he had been stabbed. He repeatedly says he can’t breathe and when he says he has been stabbed, they say, ‘I don’t think so mate.’ When he says it again they ask where and he says his face, they then roll him over so they can look at his face, and the video ends with the officer saying the handcuffed victim was likely going to be sick.

i completely understand the officers went there having been told a lie and you see the perpetrator on the video retelling the lie and claiming he’d been a victim of a racist assault, i just can’t understand how the officers didn’t recognise the guy on the floor was dying.

Yeah ive always known they have it. I grew up in the midst of youth violence. Believe me, it wasnt the Sikh guys even though they had knives on them.

So we trust some people to carry knives for no other reason than they belong to an approved cultural demographic?

No that’s unfair and overblowing it. You have no evidence of that, just the same that people claim the police will just randomly shoot at black people, also because of racism. They were told a load of lies at the scene about what happened and responded in a way that in hindsight was wrong. Because they were lied to. How were they meant to immediately know what happened?

They should have checked to see if the young man saying he had been stabbed and was short of breath multiple times was telling the truth . But no they just handcuffed him.
inexcusable

But Henry wasnt stabbed due to his views. We dont know his views. It is more likely.they had some sort of other altercation based on some sort of accidental interaction or that the man just attacked him for nothing.

Henry wasnt a political figure. He was a first year uni student

You and your colleague are weird.

But he was accused of using a racial slur. And the police believed his murderer without question. The police operated under the assumption that Henry was a racist and let him bleed out.

"I've been stabbed."

"I don't think you have, mate."

Why on earth would one religion be allowed to carry a knife in case they need to use it in self defence!

That’s what young lads say when they are found illegally carrying knives. They have it in case of self defence.

I really hope this useless Labour government move quickly. No knife carrying. THE END.

Sadly I think they are more concerned with thinking up new ways of taxing working people to pay benefits

PixelatedLunchbox · Yesterday 15:56

I won’t be watching it. My husband, who I have seen cry twice in 22 years, sat at the kitchen table and cried as he told me about it. WTAF has our country become when people are thrown in jail for tweets and facebook posts and a stabbed and dying young man gets handcuffed because someone says he’s been racially insulted. How can this really be where we are at!?

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · Yesterday 15:57

Police: are you carrying any weapons?
perp: yes
police: what religion are you?

This is what ‘Stand up to Racism’ and their ilk wanted. A country where race is absolute king (well - not white), where it is absolutely beyond reproach and defeats any other issue. Where a murdered boy’s vigil is picketed because he was murdered by a person who wasn’t white and somehow, somehow, his murder offends them.

They’re raving lunatics and I hold them fully responsible for whatever maniacs get in in 2028.

It was the conservative government who reiterated the rights of Sikhs to carry knives when the last knife act was done. Why are you blaming the labour government and not the conservatives as well?

You've never seen a report where police are looking for a 'young white male, brown hair, blue eyes'? Really?

Of course I have. I have also seen plenty referring to a 'tall black male' or of a 'short man of middle eastern appearance' or sometimes a combination of any two or more of those. If they have an actual description they will use it, whatever it is.

Do you understand that the killer lied about their altercation?

Do you understand that even if the police KNEW he was a vile racist, it isnt their place to decide whether or not he deserves medical attention?

Henry wasnt stabbed by that man because he was racist and the police have been led to believe they can be the arbiters of who gets help based on their perception of the character of the person in need.

No one should be allowed to carry them!
If your attitude is that only bad people will use them as weapons and will do so regardless of the law, then why can’t everyone carry one?

It isn't as simple as saying nobody should have a knife. If I have no knife, I can just as easily stab someone with a screwdriver or a chisel or a sharp stick instead.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · Yesterday 16:05

TheHateUGive · Yesterday 15:58

It is that simple, it is in fact the law.

Any of those items can be considered illegal as offensive weapons in the right circumstances.

And you’d be arrested for carrying them around with you in public!

The point is, if you have two boys carrying the exact same knife and only one would be prosecuted because of his cultural background, that is a problem!

FeetupTvon · Yesterday 16:07

I cannot stop thinking about the video. It’s utterly heartbreaking. That poor, poor young man must have been beyond terrified. I can’t begin to imagine what Henry’s family are going through. It’s truly sickening on every level and one of the saddest things I’ve seen.

TheTealHiker · Yesterday 16:10

Ihateboris · Yesterday 08:52

I give up. I despair. Do you think the police officers acted correctly?

That's a very difficult question.

From what bit I know about first aid and injuries I know that knife wounds are notoriously hard to deal with. They have a very small opening and can be very deep.
Also it is not always possible to know at what angle the blade entered.
If someone bleeds internally into the chest or abdominal cavity then very little blood may be visible externally.

Having said all that i would question why the police officers didn't undo his jacket to see if there were any injuries?

SavBlancinRecovery · Yesterday 16:11

I’ve just seen the whole video (on LinkedIn) and it is shocking. That poor boy and his family having to watch such vile people (police included) stand and do nothing as their son asked for help and got none. Shame on them and I hope they throw the book at his mother when she is sentenced. RIP Henry.

HannySweetRatty · Yesterday 16:13

You are 100% right: the injustice that has taken place is so utterly disgusting and sickening. The poor dying young man wasn't treated with any compassion whatsoever. The lousy, rotten, biased police should have examined Henry and realised that he was dying. That vile scumbag who killed him should rot in prison, regardless of his religion. Hope he gets what he deserves - but sadly I doubt that he will.
Sending deep sympathy to poor Henry's family and friends.

Because we've seen this play out for a decade making Trans the Sacred Cow to the detriment of women, with women being treated as second class citizens by the police when they can see with their own eyes the abuse and threats and they just stand there, do nothing apart from dance the macarena...with the abusers.

And Politicians standing in front of Decapitate TERFs signs.

Its all the same thing. That's the point.

I think on balance, it's much easier to protect the feelings of inadequate men (either the scum that stabbed this young man or the scum that threaten women) than it is to protect public safety.

Fixydodah · Yesterday 16:20

A police officer named on social media was the wrong one and has had to go into hiding with his family. This is such a mess.

Southwestoftheriver · Yesterday 16:22

waterSpider · Yesterday 15:39

The police's own guidance says not to cuff behind the back, or put on their front, people with breathing difficulties.

I believe they were punishing him because they had been told he was a racist.
