Just breaking on Sky News that Brand has been charged with a number of rapes and sexual offences. Good.
I hope his victims are feeling vindicated and supported.

This is all from before he got sober. I do think he was different then. I think the RB in recovery is a reformed character. But clearly his past is catching up with him.

That makes no difference to the victims. A leopard doesn't change it's spots (even if it no longer takes drugs or drinks).

WavyRavey · 04/04/2025 16:16

I was a huge fan of him when I was younger and was really hoping he'd sort himself out 😞

I never forget Lauren Harries whom RB was slagging off and laughing about until LH produced the receipts that they'd slept together on a few occasions.
RB shut up pretty quickly then.

What receipts?

If he goes to prison (🤞) at least he might get a good wash….always looks like a skanky slob to me!

Do you think he will turn up in court with a haircut and in a suit? 😹

I disagree. People can absolutely reform, turn their lives around. But I'm not saying anything to detract from the experience of victims of sexual assault. It's obviously validating for them to see a charge.

DeathStarCanteenGal · 04/04/2025 14:30

proceedings become active for contempt of court purposes when someone is charged.
thats certainly the case in Scotland (where I have a little bit of knowledge about this area) and I would imagine would also be the case in England as well
otherwise you could have people making prejudicial comments right up to court proceedings commencing

You're correct. In England, it comes under 'contempt of court' and includes, but is not limited to:

"You might be in contempt of court if you speak publicly or post on social media.
For example, you should not:

  • say whether you think a person is guilty or innocent"

What receipts?

She had texts from him sliming on her and confirming their nights spent in hotels, saying how amazing she was etc

I’m currently half way down a rabbit hole and still not found them.

If someone rapes someone and then 'reforms', or finds God or whatever, it makes no difference to the victim because they're the one still living with the fallout of their assault.

So someone 'reforming' is of little comfort to the victim is it?

Especially if the reformed person hasn't even faced any consequences for their crimes. I mean great that they've reformed and all but it still makes no difference to the victims. Why should they give a shit their attacker has found God?

Really hope he goes to prison 🤞

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."Police statement, reported on BBC today.

About time

When he was a darling of the left and not a day went by without him being featured in the Guardian.. I remember how he called the elderly actor from Fawlty Towers to brag about having slept with the man's granddaughter. Scum.

miraxxx · 04/04/2025 16:36

WavyRavey · 04/04/2025 16:16

I was a huge fan of him when I was younger and was really hoping he'd sort himself out 😞

Yikes, I detested him right from the start and felt something was so off with him that I knew I would always be vindicated.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/04/2025 16:37

Ugh he's always been a creep. Cannot understand how anyone thinks he's attractive.

PrincessScarlett · 04/04/2025 16:38

Why has it taken so long to charge him? It must have been an agonising wait for the women and I can't believe they will get an easy time in the court case. RB will hire the best lawyer he can. That's if he even comes back to the UK.

TENSsion · 04/04/2025 16:39

SirRaymondClench · 04/04/2025 16:26

Google it. It was all over the news at the time.

I am googling it.

I cannot find a single article pertaining to the “proof”

You know, it’s a really odd thing to you make a claim then get angry when people ask for the evidence that you’ve claimed to have.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 04/04/2025 16:40

@miraxxxHe was never a darling of the left. He is a conspiracy theorist.

Because of the quota with the 60% target meaning they NFA most on purpose to raise the conviction rate.

Not true.

ItGhoul · 04/04/2025 16:44

ThePoshUns · 04/04/2025 14:21

I am only repeating what is on the news. I am not speculating on the case.

Even your expression of support for the women involved could be construed as speculation on the case, though. And you have started a discussion knowing that other people will speculate in response.

I'm very pleased that he's been charged. But the more people talking about him/the case, the greater the risk of the case getting thrown out of court, so it really is best to keep conversations about it off public forums like this.

blacksax · 04/04/2025 16:47

Wildflowers99 · 04/04/2025 14:08

Best not to comment on live proceedings.

The man is an odious turd.

I've held that opinion for a long time, so it isn't a comment on live proceedings.

I think it was only a matter of time before this happened.
Let’s hope for a fair trial and appropriate outcome.
There must be a body of evidence for charges to have been brought against him.

TheWombatleague · 04/04/2025 16:56

If he hides in the US, I do hope he has a tattoo resembling that of a Venezuelan gang member.
