Just breaking on Sky News that Brand has been charged with a number of rapes and sexual offences. Good.
I hope his victims are feeling vindicated and supported.

Oh no, he's fled to the US? Small hope of any justice then?
Whenever someone gets religion, I know they have committed a crime and need a smokescreen.

hmm I don’t know; Tate is now under investigation by the team that got Epstein

This is derailing the subject a great deal but the Muslim grooming gangs are a very specific situation and aren’t representative of “grooming gangs”. They’re a type of “grooming gang” but not the only type.

What has happened and is still happening in the towns where they operate is an insidious and all encompassing crime. They’re crimes that have been unable to be reported or prosecuted or investigated because professionals in the social services, teaching, medicine, police, council etc. have prevented, threatened and even prosecuted anyone who tries to.

Edited

I agree they are a type and not the only type which was my point. When people were saying it is racist to bring them up - well no it isn't as most are white men doing it.

Yes that has happened and still happening along with the same happening with white male grooming gangs. White grooming gangs also threaten anyone who tries to report them. These are major criminals, dangerous people who do not take kindly to being reported and will do what they can to prevent it. All work in the same way no matter their ethnicity.

Yes all grooming gangs threaten their victims, but there isn’t a concerted effort by professional bodies to silence them.

Completely different.

There still is a concerted effort to silence victims of all grooming gangs.

All victims are blamed as the definition of CSE is victim blaming in its very definition and puts the child as being to blame just in the wording of it. The gangs have many tools at their disposal to silence victims.

In my area CSE was at level 2 out of 4 with concerns about CSE being focused on dealing with the child and punishing them not the perpetrators. I publically asked why concerns of a child being raped was at level 2 not 4 and why it was not automatic police involvement and helping the child not level 2 which seemed to punish the child. After that our area safeguarding changed to level 4. But if all other local authorities have it at level 2 then that is a real cause for concern. Mine was changed because I shamed them into answering why we would focus on punishing the child not the perpetrators and removing the source of the problem. There is very much so a focus on silencing victims and we have to stand up and make that change. It is one I am very vocal about with my local safeguarding team.

There was an effort to cover up Jimmy Savile's crimes, Fayed's crimes and other paedophile rings. There was a concerted effort to cover up child abuse in the Catholic church.

How many colleagues have you seen reprimanded and had their careers and lives threatened for talking about these issues?

How many victims and families of victims have faced charges for reporting the crimes?

What is happening in these towns is completely different to other grooming gangs.

I’m not saying it’s better or worse. It’s just completely different.

Also the Church of England and Welby's failures.

All grooming gangs with different methods of silencing and to different extents.

I’m not sure what your point is here?

TENSsion · 05/04/2025 09:49

By entire institutions, yes. The rich and powerful have long been involved in paedophile rings.

Look at the extent the Catholic church got away with child abuse for decades. Everyone knew it was happening but nothing was done about it because of the power of the church.

There are children's homes that were used as paedophile playgrounds. Some had unmarked graves of children who simply disappeared.

The police, BBC and hospitals knew about Savile but nothing was done about it.

TENSsion · 05/04/2025 09:57

What do you want me to say?

“Oh you’re right, it’s not that bad that thousands of girls were raped, that councillors and police officers silenced them and threatened them, that teachers and social services knowingly ignored it silenced and threatened them, that the girls were prosecuted for their own abuse because there are other grooming gangs?”

What the fuck?

Many! My mum and all her colleagues being one of them who worked helping these girls but who also was told that they were whores and who were told that they chose that lifestyle. My mum chose to report anyway as did many of her colleagues and she/they faced disciplinary as a result.

Many victims my mum dealt with faced charged for reporting.

My colleagues? All 2 of them! Baring in mind that we have not had a case of CSE to report?

No.

Entire towns.

You tell your teacher. The teacher takes it to the safeguarding lead. They refer it to social services. Everyone in the chain is told they are walking a thin line and are in danger of losing their jobs for being racist. They drop it and advise you do the same.

You tell the police. They tell you you’re asking for it and if you continue to make allegations, they’ll charge you.

You write to your MP. They tell you you’re lying.

You write to the media. They tell you you’re a racist liar.

You talk about it on social media. You’re told there are other grooming gangs operating so you’re not that worse off.

Where do you go?

No other victims of industrial level rape are as flippantly fobbed off. As this thread proves.

Yep Tuam being a prime example. The whole town knew that pregnant girls went into that home and the girls didn't leave with their babies in tow. They knew the babies didn't leave either. Yet anyone who tried to investigate was threatened etc.

So you asked a question saying it never happened. I gave an example of when it did and so you try and deflect saying it is me endorsing it by giving an example of when it did happen.

How immoral of you.

My point is that is has happened for white gangs as well as muslim ones. Something that YOU denying going on is actually turning a blind eye yourself to it. Pretending it doesn't happen is part of the issue.

You’re right.

It’s not that bad in Rotherham.

I’ll pass that on to all the girls I went to school with ✌🏼 and I’ll cheer the girls up who are currently still going through, it with the same obstacles in reporting, with these other historic examples you’ve shared.

Entire towns didn't cover up the abuse, you're using hyperbole. Institutions did; police, councillors, children's services.

If you scratch the surface, this is nothing new. The crux of the issue is working class girls being blamed for their own abuse.

Savile sexually abused over 400 children, many people knew what he was like but those who spoke out were silenced.

Look at Epstein, trafficking children for the rich and famous. Again, the Church, selling babies of unwed mothers and sexually abusing children. Everyone knew what was going on and nothing was done about it.

That’s a lie!
I’ve never said it doesn’t happen! I’ve said Muslim gangs are a unique type of grooming gang where all the professionals in a town, anyone you could possibly turn to, have been scared into silence by threats of losing their jobs due to their perceived racism, or are complicit in worse ways.

You literally questioned me saying - has this happened for white gangs?
When I said yes it has you then deflected saying I was endorsing it.

If you deny it is happening with white gangs then yes you are turning a blind eye. You are literally losing your shit over people saying the same thing has happened with white gangs and there has been a concerted effort to cover up and silence victims and others. You are saying that isn't the case, denying it has happened and challenging people asking if X has happened or Y has happened then deflecting that it is minimising what the victims of muslims gangs have gone through when nothing at all has been said about that.

It happens to all. The power from such gangs has impacted on all victims to silence them.

It’s been on the news internationally.

It’s still happening. People are still denying it. People are still ignoring it.
