Seemingly harmless DM article about Princess Beatrice

Starts off harmlessly enough, comparing various mothers and daughters, then WHAM. In with the venom. Wtf is ""Beatrice does not have to carry the sins of the mother on her thighs. She has a wonderful and privileged life ahead of her, but unless she gets her body under control, she'll have a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and pitiful self-esteem. Just ask Fergie. Which does make you rather wonder where her mother is in all this. "" all about?

and ""But all is not lost. I'm sure Weight-Watchers would snap up a royal mother and daughter deal. At least Beatrice has now got the "before" pictures.""

I hate that paper so much!

absolutely

I am still cross from this morning, I think I may have early PMT (or just be a grumpy old hag)

also, when I said about diets, I don't mean that if you diet it is bad, I mean the weirdos that have a lettuce and moan about cheese or eating a cake in front of their daughters "oooh calories, I really shouldn't etc". Just say you are full ffs! I see this at the bakers when I take the girls for a gingerbread man, full of woman moaning about the cakes on display, rant

that is to be avoided as they will take it on board imo

HelloBeastie · 30/04/2008 14:33

Platell was interviewed for the Independent 'Media' section, and said it was her lifelong ambition to work for the Daily Mail.

I blinked. I read it again. It still said the same thing.

Either she is lying, or she's one f*ing weird individual... Actually, her career is writing for the DM, so it's probably safe to assume she's lying (anyone else read Flat Earth News?).

Let's see if I can find it... here it is

jesuswhatnext · 30/04/2008 15:33

plainly the amanda platell's mother had a very small brain.

Kevlarhead · 30/04/2008 23:57

Lets have a look at Amanda Platell shall we...?

Fish lipped freak with beginning of a double chin
...better lay off the cream cakes luv... ...and next time fork out for real Botox; not the "microdermabrasion" crap you seem to have got this time...

Call that a nose? That's a fecking ski jump
...look closely and you'll see Eddie the Eagle zipping past the eyebags...

Modelling the "lower middle class frump waiting outside the school gates" look.
Get a grip woman... he's important, and he's wearing a suit. You're wearing a binbag from Primark; what does this tell us about your realtionships with the centres of power?

Here's a free tip; don't stand under strong light next to man with decent skin...
you'll just highlight all your defects and make yourself look about 20 years older.

cupsoftea · 01/05/2008 00:00

it really is such a mean article - who could not be offended by it?

expatinscotland · 01/05/2008 00:00

DM at its finest.

Kevlarhead · 01/05/2008 00:03

I should probably point out that the above comments don't constitute a personal attack, but are merely 'parodying' the 'style' of every midBriton's favorite newspaper...

nikos · 01/05/2008 07:08

I think Bea looks fab because she looks so confident in that pic. Much as I don't have any regard for Fergie, I'm sure she will have had something to do with it. Didn't her own mum (who was very skinny) puther down for her weight?

Remotew · 01/05/2008 21:16

Was just about to start my own thread on this. I happened to read yesterdays DM today and was very . It made a change to see a normal sized girl in the papers in a bikini. She looked great albeit curvy. Imagine if she read that article. A sure fire way to set a healthy young girl in the public eye on the road to yo-yo dieting.

Bea dont rise to it (sp).

ImPinkThereforeImSpam · 02/05/2008 15:11

Why do people read newspapers??? I used to sell them, they are all bollocks!

Rosella · 02/05/2008 15:18

I've never had a waist like Beatrice, even at her age. Hopefully her mother can give her some good advice about dealing with the press.

Have you seen the extreme photo retouching ad by Dove?

Extreme Photoshop Retouching

Is it any wonder that even journalists have no idea what a "normal" figure is. All our models, every photo feature in a magazine is abusively (and I don't use that word lightly) retouched. Real human beings DO NOT EXIST IN THE FORM MAGAZINES PRINT.

Really makes me .

taipo · 02/05/2008 16:20

Horrible article full of snide bitchy comments.

Very depressing that stuff like this sells papers.

LOL at photo of Amanda Platell, if I had a three-dick gob like hers I wouldn't be drawing attention to it with cheap red lipsick

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not leaping to the defence of royalty, bunch of inbred parasitical dimwits with too many teeth in their mouths

but journalists like this one are basically maggots - they feed off the decay of other people's lives. She obviously has the rudiments of an education and the ability to string a sentence together, so there's no excuse for this.

JeremyVile · 02/05/2008 16:42

No, but she is a vile, cretinous, female-hating bitch who hemorrhages her own insecureties over every fucking word she writes.
