I was recently talking about her on the steiner/waldorf thread and read tonight that she has just split from her husband partly due to the lifestyle change required by steiner schools.
Just wanted to post here, incase anyone knew her and could point her to the thread here

Ignore Him - IGNORE HIM!!!

zzooey · 18/04/2008 10:24

Pete, redefining science... I don't know if that's what thebee and the anthroposophists do. It's more like they hijack the word "science"!

northernrefugee39 · 18/04/2008 11:26

Janni and Brace

barking · 18/04/2008 17:00

Hi Nothern - yes we really do call them 'minnies'. The best word we can think of so far and as my eldest explains they are mini willies that have got a bit squashed when a girl sits down

Following on from the surreal foot reference yesterday, I was going to try and freak Bee out and say we call our feet 'twats' in our house. But thats just being very very silly. I never thought a thread could make me laugh like this has!

I looked on the thread yesterday and it was all talk of bunions and bits, so I thought I would add my own angle

northernrefugee39 · 18/04/2008 20:22

The minnie willies is our reason too,,, spoooooky....
yes , this was/is a really funny one....

Vulgar · 19/04/2008 20:21

We call them Minnies and Willies too.

and support your anti steiner stance!

(from a safe distance!)

barking · 20/04/2008 09:08

Thanks Vulgar

I'm not anti-steiner, I'm against steiner waldorf schools hiding behind the occult movement anthroposophy.

I think they should be renamed 'anthropospophy schools' so its all out in the open and everyone knows what they are getting into.

Then instead of reading 'free to learn' etc. they can read all about anthroposophy. Parents can then make an informed decision before they enroll their children (and themselves) into the movement.

That was why I wanted to see if Melinda was a mumsnetter - I wanted to ask if she is aware of the other side of the coin.

I have to say, if I was even thinking about sending my dc to a steiner school (we have one quite near) I would be adamantly against it now. Not only because of what you all have said, but the thought of a 60-year-old childless man who lurks on parenting/womens forums teaching my kids.....yeeeurk. How creepy is he? I wouldn't want him even to pass my kids in the street.

Vulgar · 20/04/2008 16:06

Sorry Barking.

I know you are not anti Steiner and you have put this across most eloquently in your posts!

I'm not either really but I do find the whole movement a bit sinister.

northernrefugee39 · 20/04/2008 18:09

Crikey, and we thought we had invented the word minnie!
Vulgar, I meant to reply to your comment about cups of tea and e on the other thread
I'm anti Steiner, I think he was a raving lunatic. A quite nice, charismatic one. But lunatic never ther less.
And as barking says, if people want to follow the madness, and enrol their kids in occult science schols that's up to them. But don't decieve and lie to people about it.

northernrefugee39 · 20/04/2008 18:11

Barking, Mr Refugee will soon be in contact with you!

barking · 20/04/2008 18:23

Oh Vulgar - wasn't being uppity just that Bee keeps accusing us all of being part of a hate fringe group thing (whatever that means) and I'm a bit sensitive, especially living amongst it all. I feel I have to be careful what I say at the moment, he has really freaked me out following me and Northern to different threads then trying to work out who we all are, he may not be posting at the moment but you know he will be reading it all and taking copious notes.

Northern - I didn't want to say anything here because of youknowwoohooo but sounds like a yes then

OP posts:
Vulgar · 20/04/2008 18:50

I know you're not being uppity Barking .

I love hearing what you have to say. I can imagine feeling very freaked out if I had experienced what your family has.

easeonline · 20/04/2008 18:54

"because of youknowwoohooo"
Voldemort?

northernrefugee39 · 20/04/2008 19:02

Yes Barking!

He got side tracked with various work things and stopped, but the education bits are in note form ready to go. And being a mild gentle fellow, he left me to my rants and gave up....
(OOH , I do like the word fellow)
