There's lots more going on in this case that isn't in the public domain. I'm a journalist so I know.

Immaculateconception · 03/04/2008 13:27

When I met them last year for the first time since I was 6 years old, both myself and my DF were shocked at what we had discovered. I had spent from the age of 11 searching for my father and once I found them, I definitely did not like what I found. Have had very little contact with them since last year.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/04/2008 13:30

It's all very sad, isn't it.
I'm not trying to get a story out of you btw

Immaculateconception · 03/04/2008 13:38

It is very, very sad and I really feel for my nephews and neices. Social services needs to step in. The rest of the family needs take responsibility for the mess that is the family. I realised that you were not after a story by the way, they are making enough of a story for themselves. For me, I found my father and the family, I didn't like what I found and so I walked away for the sake of myself and my family. I also do not want to be associated with them and any kind of mud thrown at me. We live a law abiding life and I do not want it ruined by them.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/04/2008 13:39

Sounds like you're better off out of it. I'm sorry they didn't turn out to be what you'd hoped.

clam · 03/04/2008 13:41

But isn't it Karen's parents (your father and his wife??) who are also concerned and asking for social services to step in? No love lost there wither, by the looks of things.....

Immaculateconception · 03/04/2008 13:44

Nope, the grandparents that did that are her stepdad and mother. My dad was married to her mum.

tiredemma · 03/04/2008 14:12

In the news it says 'pics graded one to four'- what does that mean???

kerala · 03/04/2008 14:15

Poor you IC you sound well out of it. What a chaotic mess.

wannaBe · 03/04/2008 14:18

it has to do with the severity of the images I think. although not sure what constitutes more or less severe.

yorkishbirdy · 03/04/2008 14:23

it is a severity scale, 1 being the lowest and 5 being pretty horrific (IMO having seen the parameters) 4 is pretty bad too, however if he had hundreds of level 1 and 1 level 4 it could be viwed that the level 4 got there by accident IYSWIM.

would he have 'normally' been remanded for these offences ( had he not been in the news for weeks previously?)- I recall people in our local news who have been bailed for greater porn offences.

wannaBe · 03/04/2008 14:44

so technically, you could have pictures of your naked children on your computer and still be charged with possessing level1 child porn images?

I wasnt aware that it was graded on severity- makes sense I suppose.

I wouldnt fancy a job decided how severe and how each pic would be graded, not for all the money in the world.

awful.

The mother says that she is no longer with him and has sent a friend to pack his stuff out of the house (so SKY NEWS informs me)

I still don't understand why the other children were left at the home though. From the doc there was a little girl and a couple of boys.

Deleting your temp files doesn't actually delete anything, I'm told. It just stops your own pc from looking in the temp files folder.

Gosh Cod, the things you have to do, what an awful responsibility. It's a wonder you are so normal. [Pats shoulder]

tiredemma · 03/04/2008 15:03

Awful. I would have nightmares having to look at that and catagorise them.

I highly doubt that jail is a 'place of safety' for him.
