"Am I the only one who is a bit
hmm that he has been living there since he was 17? Presumably as her partner?

And iirc correct he used to live with the abductor?".

Tbh while it is generally out of the norm for a 17 year old guy to move in with a 27 yo woman, if it was the other way around and it was him who aas 27 and she who was 17 no-one would bat an eyelid, so why should it be different just because it's a 17 year old with a 27 year old woman?

Also, the fact he "used to live with the abductor" doesn't mean anything does it? Lots of people who commit the most horrific crimes imaginable have family, wives, children, parents, siblings, who live with them at the time and who have no idea of the things their loved one is up to. "living with an abductor" does not make one guilty by association.

FWIW have you noticed that the abductor has just been charged with that and nothing else? I think as she was a child he would have been charged with abduction even if she was there of her own free will as he's the adult and should have given her up. I thought it was very fishy that they found her under the bed as neighbours had reported hearing her footsteps and voice so she can't have been under the bed the whole time. I wondered if she'd got in there of her own accord and was hiding from someone else. The step-father story fits in with that.

wanabe, i think it is a bit different, most (obviouly not all)17 year old boys are not interested in settling down a all, to be setting down with a woman 10 years his senior who also hapens to have 7 kids is slightly odd, i think most 17 year olds would run a mile fom that set up!

wannaBe · 02/04/2008 21:17

depends though doesn't it? depends on what kind of childhood he might have had. maybe it was a mother figure he initially was looking for, hence his attraction to an older woman.

nancy75 · 02/04/2008 21:22

tbh, im not judging one way or another, just remember what i was like at 17, had i met a guy, even if i really liked him, once i found out he had 7 kids i would have been running!

wannaBe · 02/04/2008 21:35

oh absolutely, and at 34 I would still head for the hills if I found out a potential bf had 7 kids .

And don't get me wrong it is most definitely unusual, it's just that sometimes I think people are judged purely on the basis that they are men, when no-one would ever think to judge a woman in the same way.
