Unwise comment before a trial may mean that a case will be thrown out because it could be argued that it is impossible for the accused to get a fair trial.

Er Lyra you are wrong, he has been arrested on suspicion of having indecent images on his pc, it does however say it has no conection to the kidnep of shannon matthews, the images were found when the police were searching for shannon & seized the home computers.

So he has nothing to do with what happened to Shannon so far, & has not been found guilty of anything yet, so because someone looks shifty does not mean they are guilty, get a grip women !

Um, yes it is, Lyra - you are probably thinking about libel, not contempt. However, the courts seem to be very, very lax on contempt these days, letting the papers and broadcasters such as Sky get away with an awful lot. And I doubt ordinary people on MN would be first in the firing line if the powers that be decided to act - much more likely to be a red-top paper.
