I actually like Russel brand . And I don't think he's ever hidden what he used to be in his heyday. He's always been very open about his drug use, and promiscuity.

I read his first book . I watch his videos on fb , and while I don't always agree with him, he seems to have totally overhauled his lifestyle, attitudes, is into yoga, self care, seems to be a decent husband and father .

Is this newsworthy ? Young famous comedian in heyday slept with lots and lots of women , consensually he says ?

Hes never hidden it.

On drug misuse I alWays had time for his views that it should be dealt with as a medical issue not a criminal one

What's the news story ?
I always feel like there is much glee and salivating before the media try and knock someone down.
I don't think this is a huw edwards where people would be shocked at him trying to pick up young women behind his wife's back

It seems that brand has settled down , lives a fairly mundane lifestyle and is happy with his choices .

You obviously haven’t read the Telegraph article about the reason the mother was there.
There is no way, with a penis in her mouth that she would be able to get a position to swing a punch hard enough to wind him.
as I said, I think he prob did rape in LA and he’s a pervert, but the consenting 16yr old’s story just does not add up, nor does that of her mother who claims that she did not think her daughter safe, so she drove her to his party and tried to go in as well. That’s not what you do if you think your child isn’t safe.
I’m really not a RB fan at all but I also don’t take everything at face value.

It's really, really disheartening to read some of the posts on this thread.

Particularly those who can't even realise the reason why so many women subjected to sexual assaults do not go to the Police is because of attitudes like theirs.

Victim blaming, misrepresentation of what they said happened and discrediting their experiences because they didn't report for fear of exactly the some of the responses we see posted here.

RB seems to think that being promiscuous is a get out clause because he was open about it.

That doesn't mean it's ok to proposition women in the workplace or have other women pimp your audience for you as has been alleged.

The reports in The Times/Dispatches are not "just" about the experiences of a few women wrt sexual assault, but a pattern of behaviour over many years by RB where he denigrated women both in private and in public.

And nobody did anything about it, other than to suggest not employing women on TV productions he was working on.

So yes, there is a conspiracy here but it's not against Brand.

It's yet again about a conspiracy of silence protecting men in positions of influence, enabling their sexually predatory behaviour.

If you're defending Brand, here's a wake up call. You're not a free thinker or anti-establishment.

I know where you are coming from but he has forced himself on these women. The 16yo was particularly nasty. I think that kids mother should have kept her away from brand. No one condones a 30yo shagging a 16yo. Its grim. Its not illegal but he's a piece of work.

I think a lot of men are coming unstuck because they are being judged now for something they thought they could get away with years ago. I'm glad that issues of consent are coming to light. Too long women have had to put up with sexual abuse as status quo.

I'm glad the Dispatches and news articles have resulted in an investigation, I hope RB is convicted and jailed for his crimes, and I hope it causes a cultural shift in the entertainment business.

It's so upsetting to see so many trolls, excusers, apologists, repeaters of harmful and stupid questions, and god that awful poster recently trying to disprove that poor young girls statement, WTAF? It's awful when it is coming from an ostensible source of authority too, who recants and then goes back to repeating the same elsewhere.

These things are directly harmful to actual women, and they directly contribute to the culture that allows men to continue assaulting women and girls with almost complete impunity.

Those posters who keep saying these things should be properly ashamed of themselves!
