I actually like Russel brand . And I don't think he's ever hidden what he used to be in his heyday. He's always been very open about his drug use, and promiscuity.

I read his first book . I watch his videos on fb , and while I don't always agree with him, he seems to have totally overhauled his lifestyle, attitudes, is into yoga, self care, seems to be a decent husband and father .

Is this newsworthy ? Young famous comedian in heyday slept with lots and lots of women , consensually he says ?

Hes never hidden it.

On drug misuse I alWays had time for his views that it should be dealt with as a medical issue not a criminal one

What's the news story ?
I always feel like there is much glee and salivating before the media try and knock someone down.
I don't think this is a huw edwards where people would be shocked at him trying to pick up young women behind his wife's back

It seems that brand has settled down , lives a fairly mundane lifestyle and is happy with his choices .

Or am I completely missing something?

If it's all lies, why doesn't Brand just sue for defamation?

In the meantime, here is Dannii in 2006.

Her sister is quite famous.

Given how few rapes end in convictions, and how few police services succeed in supporting female victims of rape and sexual assault, speaking out in other forums is often the closest to justice a woman will get. Wrong behaviour can and should be called out, in or outside of the justice system. The least someone who has suffered is owed is someone to listen to their story. Fair play to them for speaking out.

Dannii Minogue was not only 34 in 2006! Surely?

I’d imagine there is a lot of Russell Brand PR presence on this thread and other social media tonight. Be careful

Brand got a standing ovation tonight. The show was on at the same time as the programme.

That crowd all decided to still turn up which can only be described as an act of support.

They might have seen some news on what was supposed to be in the programme. But none of them watched it first.

They'd already decided, they'd support him.

I think it's an observation to keep in mind.

A lot of people don't want to believe he's done anything wrong. A lot of people are invested in his style of humour. If they think he's funny and it turns out he's a rapist, what does that say about them?

Being in denial is often an act of self preservation.

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 17/09/2023 00:28

Yeah keep
Kicking me it's fine . I didn't have the allegations when I posted , thanks to the poster who linked the time's piece.

Watched dispatches. Informative. Regretfully i posted op in ignorance

Your OP is a strange tasteless take for someone who was apparently a policewoman... or maybe not from your history of posting.

I wouldn't call it tasteless, but quite naive... yes, and it shows a lack of understanding of how the law actually works which is strange if the OP happens to be a police woman (?)

RedToothBrush · 17/09/2023 00:29

Dannii is 51 according to wiki.

That would make her 34 in 2006.

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 17/09/2023 00:30

Is he still doing stand up ? I've unfollowed him on fb but thought he'd stopped doing stand up ?

In RB's book he actually admits to spitting in a girlfriend's face after they had sex because he got angry with her. If he will admit this stuff on writing it's quite telling.

The guy has multiple issues. He is also a heroin addict. Again, this was addressed in his book.

Well yes I suppose that must be right, I was 23 in 2006. Seems like last week. Bloody hell.

Yes, he was in Wembley tonight.

Got a standing ovation when he appeared

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 17/09/2023 00:33

As a police officer I take at face value what i get to deal with

Never have I gone in with an opinion before talking to someone which is extremely important I'd say in my line of work

I'm quite different in that respect to many colleagues because I don't form any opinion before talking to people. Many do think I'm naive , but my way often gets better results I've found . Believe until proven wrong.

And this is where the whole thing throws me tbh...

He must be bloody brazen as fuck to have alluded to such things and actually done much more behind closed doors.

Usually it's the 'nice guys' who are the rapey bastards. Not the ones who are more upfront for shock value.

I'm getting to the age now (40) where I'm.beginning to realise that it's just all of them, given the fucking chance.

Xenia · 17/09/2023 00:36

These things are always for the court to decide. The court of public opinion does not exist.

HotSince82 · 17/09/2023 00:17

And THIS ^^

Proves my point re the chances of conviction.

That's the defence case and I will bet my house the poster isn't even a barrister. So imagine how they can spin it.

Can you identify any post on this whole thread that disagrees with your point that the chances of conviction are low? You're filling the space with an argument directed at absolutely no one.

MelroseGrainger · 17/09/2023 00:37

@Twilight7777 Oh Lordy, I wonder how some
people make it to the end of their own road sometimes. If Channel 4 were biased in favour of Channel 4, they wouldn’t have commissioned the documentary.

Besides, the actual journalists are nothing to do with Channel 4. Each Dispatches programme is made by independent production companies.

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 17/09/2023 00:37

And on that note I desperately need a break from mn

Im terribly sorry re this thread . I'd genuinely not been able to find the allegations.

I do believe the women . I've little faith they will receive justice but i do believe them .

The man is disgusting in his conduct towards women. Criminal or not, not one of you would want the treatment he is said to have handed out, which is degrading.

He should explain himself. But I expect massive silence

Lalgarh · 17/09/2023 00:38

Popbitch was hinting at this on Thursday, that a "whole new front" was about to open with #MeToo. It was suggested that there would be a wider exposé on harrasment in the stand up comedy circuit elsewhere. Not sure if there is more to come

And I'll take up all the spaces I see fit to, thanks.

If I'm bothering you then ignoring me is always an option. I promise you that I'm not one bit arsed if it's one you choose to take.

FrogsLegs111 · 17/09/2023 00:43

@HatThatWearsYou op is lots of things. Police isn't one of them.

Being in denial is often an act of self preservation.

It's not his humour anymore. He's a multi-millionaire from grifting as a (naive) alt.right/wellbeing/conspiracy guru. He has acolytes.

FrogsLegs111 · 17/09/2023 00:44

@bombastix you expect massive silence? From Russell Brand? He's a lot of things but passively isnt one of them/

bombastix · 17/09/2023 00:45

@FrogsLegs111 - I expect him to be verbose but pointless. That's saying nothing imo

HatThatWearsYou · 17/09/2023 00:46

I wonder how long before you have this thread removed?

Happens a lot with you. You name change but then tell everyone who you are. Its very attention seeking.

You often have your own threads removed where they show you up to be racist or like in this thread willing to think rape allegations are false right from the off. I don't believe for a second you started this thread having not been able to find any info about it.

It's the usual from you, a horrible opinion, a furious back peddle, a personal story which makes people feel sorry for you, and then a namechange/thread removal before it all repeats again.

And you think you are somehow better than your "supposed" colleagues in the police?

I still hope you are a fantasist and not a policewoman. If you are telling the truth about what you do, your attitude shows you up every time you post stuff like this, and you shouldn't be that job!

Edit: @FrogsLegs111 Well I hope not! I don't believe she is either, it's not an uncommon opinion.
