Fuck it, I'm opening another one. If the mods delete it fair enough.

I don't believe the menopause or even alcoholism explains a woman vanishing into thin air with no evidence left behind.

This whole case stinks!

You don't need to correct it thanks, I stand by what I said

I actually understand this. I remember him confidently stating that he'd spoke to Paul and she was happy so there was no way she'd have vanished out of choice. Of course that's misleading to an investigation

Yes there has been misdirection to both the public and to PF.

pissssedofff · 15/02/2023 21:41

@Amethystanddiamonds

who has said she is a functioning alcoholic? hadn't she just taking her kids to school and been on a work call.

So she liked a drink, i'm not sure that makes her a suicide and why in a shallow river on a regular dog walk, with many people in the area, when she had a car?

Bluekerfuffle · 15/02/2023 21:42

lemmein · 15/02/2023 21:34

I think this is the case with most professionals tbh. If you're ever unlucky enough to experience anxiety you'll be pleased to know you can't ever suffer any other health complaint....'it's probably just that anxiety you had 10 years ago!' Hmm

And if someone is autistic or has learning difficulties, everything is put down to that. “Oh, it could be just a sensory or behavioural thing/don’t want to distress them by actually investigating anything” (rather let them suffer with an ailment forever). It’s very frustrating.

liveforsummer · 15/02/2023 21:42

lemmein · 15/02/2023 19:43

If I was going to take my life in similar circumstances I would have at least tied the dog to the bench so she was safe and couldn't follow me Hmm

Whole case is bullshit!

Previous reports have said the lady that found willow tied her to the bench using string already on her collar so perhaps Nicola did but willow broke or chewed free?

Chocolated · 15/02/2023 21:43

@Quveas it isn't the da to actually and you have no right to change my list . Who the hell do you think you are??

ShellsPebbles · 15/02/2023 21:46

Today has made the whole thing make even less sense to me now.
If she was drunk or not thinking straight, how on earth could she pull off the perfect disappearance with not a trace left behind in a 10 minute window of time??

At 930am in a public area? it just isnt plausible.

But in the absence of evidence the police seem happy to conclude based on conjecture.

Its ridiculous bordering on scandalous

Chocolated · 15/02/2023 21:46

@Quveas it would seem that mn agree

Mojoyoyo · 15/02/2023 21:47

Its now been minimised as just a menopausal alcoholic gone missing. They want close the case and move on.

They just assumed from day one that no third party was involved and they didn’t request help from an outside force.

It’s a cover up for their gross incompetence 😡

BornFreeButinChains · 15/02/2023 21:47

Question :

Ignoring this PF bloke the police do have their own dive teams and someone said heat seeking helicopter.

Wouldn't they have already checked extensively further down the river seeing this is one of the polices hypothesis?

The family was known to the police though, so why would they believe it was all sunshine and roses? Anyway how much alcohol do you need to imbibe to make you melt away in water?

Peverellshire · 15/02/2023 21:49

@Bluekerfuffle Thing is I really don't think she has, certainly on the area where PF has been focusing and as we know the expert divers were out in force on the same day.

Riley mentioned the faster flowing sections, is it possible for her to realistically get to these? I do wonder if the police have more intel on the below:

For this reason, our search of the river and the river banks extends out to the sea, particularly the area from Knott End, out towards Morecambe.

Work in progress I think, but if she was down where river meets the sea...

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 15/02/2023 21:51

The police are literally damned if they do and damned if they don’t though. It’s been said on these threads that if they have any information they should share it with the public but then when they do, they’re criticised even more.

If I knew (and I’d never and haven’t on these threads or anywhere else have said anything), you can guarantee plenty of others knew and someone might be looking to make a few quid from the media. I’m surprised it’s not come out before now tbh.

FWIW, I don’t think the police should have said why she was vulnerable unless it was about to come out anyway and there was no need to mention menopause at all as it’s not really relevant to her vulnerability, they didn’t even need to have a press conference at all today as all it does is fuel the flames.

For those saying she can’t have been drinking on the morning she went missing, when you’re alcohol dependent, not drinking can be as, or more, dangerous than drinking in terms of physical and mental health.

I do think, if she is out there somewhere, this will make it even harder for her to come back.

Agree, they need to really focus on every possibility, hopefully they have, taking no one's word for anything. This is a small and tight community, most know of each other and this walk was habitual for Nicola/and the vicinity. She was no stranger to it.

Wasn't it stated that counter terrorism team was called in almost immediately?

Rempf · 15/02/2023 21:19

Why on earth do the police feel the need to appease online rumours? Thats a ridiculous precedent to set. It smacks of a force that hasnt ever been exposed to scrutiny and are floundering in attempts to justify their actions, which have been appalling.
Tonight is the icing on the cake.

Had a drunken row? Been a bit low?

Obviously she has self drowned at 930am in a shallow river ,frequented by walkers whilst walking her own dog despite nothing being found and the river being searched immediatley by helicopters with infrared.

Naturally.

I suspect they might know a bit more about it than you - as many here probably do.

If you've ever known anyone who has issues with alcohol or, indeed had them yourself, you might have the idea that early in the morning, the day after the night before in the cold, hard light of a new day is when the absolute desperation can be at it's worst.

Wind your neck in.

Yes there has been misdirection to both the public and to PF.

There hasn’t. PF was acting privately to the family nothing to do with the police. If he’s some hot shot detective he should at least be able to communicate with his client and be wary why they might not be honest and fully transparent with him. He missed the detail as he was seemingly too keen to be involved in a high profile mystery where he could fly in and solve it but he lacked the necessary skill to get the basics it seems despite extensive conversations and time spent with her Partner!

pigsinoodies · 15/02/2023 21:56

I've just checked on the Environment Agency website and the river level at the flood gates opposite the side of Rowanwater is currently 7 metres, compared to 0.37 metres at the weir.

It's apparently been thoroughly checked and she's not there, but it's near where she was last seen, and just up the river from the 'beach' where the dog used to swim.

If she was going to commit suicide that seems a more likely place than travelling miles downstream.

People no doubt thought Emma Pattison was at fault and aggressive over a domestic row, too...Her husband told the police she was after all, and she was arrested as a result. She was carted off to the police station.

[Meanwhile Wayne Couzens does far worse in fields and buying fast food, etc... & nobody does a thing, but I digress].

We just don't know the full story and truth of things as relayed to us....

news.sky.com/story/emma-pattison-death-epsom-college-headteacher-shot-dead-in-surrey-was-arrested-seven-years-ago-after-row-with-husband-12806228

Headteacher Emma Pattison, who police believe was shot dead by her husband, was arrested after a domestic row with him seven years ago.

Just before midnight George Pattison called police claiming she had assaulted him at their home. He said his wife had slapped him around the face.

Two minutes later, he rang again to ask officers not to come because it was a trivial matter and he had overreacted.

But police did go to their home in Caterham, Surrey, and arrested Mrs Pattison on suspicion of common assault. She was questioned in the early hours, with a solicitor present, but was later released without charge.

Suicides in the river/water are relatively rare and difficult to carry out, grim as the topic is.
