There is going to be speculation surely.
I am not saying he did something, maybe someone else was involved, its very odd.

Wetblanket78 · 08/02/2023 22:48

That's exactly what police said not to do.

I seen a video on tiktok some bloke outside a house. Saying there was a naked woman found in the attic matching Nicolas discription. Someone said it was actually a fire.

@Owlyhedgehog

Reported.

You should be ashamed.

Excellent thanks!

You'd have a field day with me and my autism.

I've definitely murdered my ex-partner, my parents and all my siblings.

It's all in the eye contact and the body language.

🤣
I knew you were a fellow autie as soon as you mentioned geeking out with maps!
I too would fail the body language tests miserably.

Imagine living in the village and dealing with all that on top of everything else.
Utter arseholes.

I think a lot of people throwing out random accusations would be wise to remember this isn’t a tv plot , these are real people who are desperately hurting and missing their loved one.

Isn’t that a good thing that the river has been thoroughly investigated?

Yes, but why aren’t the police investigating the possibility that something criminal may have happened too? Why are they so sure that’s not the case?

There was a 15 year old she was anorexic. Took the family dog for a walk and jumped in front of a train. The dog was found running loose. At least she spared the dogs life. Some parents choose to take they're children's lives as well.

They are investigating that, they have clearly said that and they have 40 detectives on the enquiry who are obviously not engaged in the physical river search and are doing other enquiries.

Shared by a friend on fb. I live very close to St Michael’s and although I don’t know Nikki, we have a couple of mutual friends.

Lets talk about this 'abandoned house.'

I'm a friend of Nikki's who has been involved every single day in this search. I want absolutely nothing more than to get her back home to her family. I can't actually express in words how desperately I want to know she is safe and to get her home to her girls and Paul.

Since day one when speaking with the press/media I have shared how incredibly thankful we are as friends and family for people who have turned out to help us in our search for Nikki, its meant the absolute world and it continues to do so.

But this abandoned house, here are some facts that need to be known.

🟣 Its not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in this village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.

🟣 It HAS been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. I have clarified this with the family themselves and also with the police.

🟣 They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search.

🟣 Its not 'strange' that they were around when the police/rescue teams turned up, the police had knocked on their door and asked them to be around.

Tonight multiple police units are out in St Michaels dealing with people trespassing, not only on this families land but also others. We are at the point where people coming to 'help' look for Nikki in this way is actually doing the complete opposite. You're taking police time and resources away from the investigation. You're letting speculation take away from the actual facts. We are at the point where this type of 'help' is making people who live in St Michaels feel unsafe. Please don't let this continue to happen.

I've got an autistic son and daughter. Alice struggled with eye contact but myself but never been diagnosed. My son just looks in the opposite direction daughter closes her eyes.

The detective in charge has repeatedly said that there is no evidence of criminality. But my point is, there is no evidence whatsoever. It has not been treated as a crime scene, but however slight the possibility- it could be.

"Also if abducted by a stranger, wouldn't the dog have followed/barked continuously. Similarly if she left off her own accord wouldn't the dog have followed her. Surely even a very obedient wouldn't just 'stay' even if told to if owner disappeared. It's all very odd"

Fuck Me. There's a gate.

Do you mean the gate behind the bench area? Isn’t there a gap underneath the dog could get through, and isn’t it just wooden fences with gaps it could get through either side of the gate? (Just asking as I can’t find a picture anywhere).

I wonder why Tilly Ann says it's not been searched?
She's definitely a friend as she is friends on Facebook with both Nicola and Paul.
Maybe she's not as close to them as she says she is.

I think these threads have helped educate and increase awareness of inadvertently putting yourself at risk via SM exposure (strava / FB) as well as the risks of walking near open inland waterways.

It’s a hugely confused and unique situation from all levels - how NB has disappeared, how family and friends have unilaterally turned against the police, how PF the diving expert got involved even down to the recent vigilante incidents.

Totally unprecedented.

It says a lot about the state of British society right now and shift in trust or not in authorities.

Tragedy all round.

Women are highly anxious around this unresolved series of events and talking through something both so unfathomable and relatable is a basic human need to try to find order and comfort in times of stark uncertainty.

urbanbuddha · 08/02/2023 22:57

Nicknacky · 08/02/2023 22:08

They have considered it, there is no evidence at this time to say it’s a criminal matter.

Well, except that a woman has gone missing in broad daylight walking her dog after the school run. It was a walk she regularly took at the same time, posting about it on her Facebook which is set to public. Her route was visible on Strava. She had described one of her walks as “spooky”. The CCTV which would have covered her walk broke two days before she vanished. Two teams of experienced divers can’t find her in the river. So the very fact that she’s missing suggests it could be criminal, I think.

7eleven · 08/02/2023 22:57

What I find interesting is that in recent months a thread about Sam Smith’s appearance on tv and Daisy May Cooper’s resemblance to a male comedian were taken down before you could say ‘shit hot lawyer’, yet repeated suggestions that family members/house owners/dog finders were clearly incriminated are allowed to fly. Yes most are being deleted, but not before hundreds of people can have read them.

Mmm mumsnet. Strange values.

EarringsandLipstick · 08/02/2023 22:59

how family and friends have unilaterally turned against the police

Have they? Or is this more hyperbole and SM conjecture?

I don't know enough to say.

I will say in the case I had some contact with the police in that country were amazing to the family. However, they were circumspect in what they disclosed - including to the family.

I feel very sorry for the police here and the extent of the vilification on these threads.

Well it's not all down to eye-contact obviously, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say there.

All I know is my own 'symptoms' and the fact that an 'engineer' described as having problems with eye contact and body-language may well be autistic to some extent. It's obviously more complex than that though.

Thank you but I’m out. I have 20 years experience, 12 of those as a detective and been on more missing person enquiries than I can remember but there is no point posting on mumsnet sometimes.

I actually think I could answer posters genuine questions to the best of my ability but some think they know better so what is the point?

Thanks again.

He's even been criticised for wearing sunglasses. People saying "who does he think he is" etc.
I wear mine a hell of a lot as I just can't cope with brightness.
Today has been sunny too and the poor guy was clearly crying talking to Peter.
People are just vile.

Understandable Nicknacky but unfortunate. You were very clear & had actual relevant experience, if posters could have listened (read)
