Well who ever it is they are pushing Fran for answers, fran has answered them but they seem to want more, Posne there is no more for you to have so just leave it.

I also think it may be media, just shows how low people can go, makes me sick!

bossybritches · 27/11/2007 20:06

Possibly babiese but more likely the press from the persistance.

Close MN ranks girls (& boys!)

FranLyon · 27/11/2007 20:07

Hello all,

I've no idea whether there is someone from the press or social services on here. I'm suitably unnerved however as to decide to take a back seat for a wee while.

I'm open and frank with the press when they address me directly - but I don't much like the idea that someone might seek to obtain a quote through less than direct means. I do hope the speculation is wrong, and that there isn't anyone here posing to be someone else.

Thanks,

Fran

P.S. Does anyone know where BeenLeigh went? I saw a message a while back saying her PC had broken but haven't heard anything since...

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 27/11/2007 20:08

Fran; we are naturally quite a protective lot so please don't be alarmed by our comments.

Always useful to be aware of the eyes and ears of the press. Not that you've said anything you shouldn't have done though!

If there is anything at any point you regret posting or would like removed, just click the red exclamation mark to the right of the post and the helpful MNHQ team will press their handy delete button

Elizabetth · 27/11/2007 20:09

Well that's a few of us who have raised suspicions about Posen.

Posen, I really think you are going to have to tell us your real Mumsnet name. There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion from people but the way you have been relentlessly asking these questions does look suspicious.

Posen · 27/11/2007 20:10

not press i promise. definitely not. and not ss either. just a sceptic.

  1. i can not believe that you are answering honestly when you say that ss did not tell you why they wanted to take your baby away. you have stated before that you have seen all the documents in your file. i assumed, although am no expert that you would have legal access to the whole file.

  2. if you haven't been told that ss were worried about your repeated hospital admissions, then how on earth did the trevor macdonald programme find out this info?

  3. it would be a tremendous coincidence if your hospital admissions and the suggestion that you may suffer from some form of munchausen's were unrelated so your repeated hospital admissions are an important part of this story and one which you have chosen not to discuss. why did you play down the importance of this?

i just don't understand why, when this is clearly viewed as a very important part of your case you chose to keep it quiet.

Elizabetth · 27/11/2007 20:12

Could you tell us your real Mumsnet name please Posen.

Posen · 27/11/2007 20:12

and i love the way that if someone disagrees with the general consensus then they are part of a conspiracy or something.

secretSANTAforBUMBLE · 27/11/2007 20:13

Fran - I think you should stop answering Posen's questions. I suspect that she (he?) may be a member of the press, or SS or some other party who may want to challenge you. Their persistant questions are entirely out of order and you do not need to grace them with your answers.

ScoobyDoo · 27/11/2007 20:13

Actually it makes me feel quite sad that this thread has come to this, i think people just need to give Fran a little break now, let her enjoy her last few weeks of pregnancy & come to terms with the new situation she finds herself in.

fran i do hope you feel you can still chat with us all on here, you do know you can talk on mumsnet about anything you need or want to?

If you have msn you can add me [email protected]

Posen probably won't want to reveal her true mn name if she has one but i suppose it's the same as anyone we can all reval what we want to thats the great thing about the internet

Posen · 27/11/2007 20:14

yes elizabetth of course i will, since we've clearly bonded so well on this thread, i would really love to extend our relationship in to the rest of my mumsnet world.

secretSANTAforBUMBLE · 27/11/2007 20:15

oops - lots of x-posts and it seems others are thinking the same.

And oops I'm still logged in as a secret santa!

edam · 27/11/2007 20:16

I don't think Posen is journalist at all, tbh. Speaking as one myself!* I do wonder who s/he is though. Possibly someone who just is very, very curious/suspicious. Possbily someone who has an axe to grind, who knows?

Disclaimer - if* I wanted to write a story on the back of an MN thread, any thread, I'd contact the posters concerned and ask if they wanted to talk. I happen to be on this thread because I care about the issues and am horrified by what has happened to Fran.

Posen · 27/11/2007 20:17

ok, i'm gone, but will people please stop asking me questions or i will be too tempted to come back and answer them. i'm sorry i ruined your thread fran. i'm only one person with a sceptic attitude.
resume normal service everyone.
i really meant it when i wished you all the best. i really truly wish you so much luck and happiness for the fantastic and bonkers and miraculous weeks ahead.

Elizabetth · 27/11/2007 20:18

Um it's not about friendship Posen, it's about you being willing to prove you are what you say you are which is a regular Mumsnetter.

Posen · 27/11/2007 20:19

i can completely promise you all that i'm not a journalist or anything to do with social services.

edam · 27/11/2007 20:19

Fran, sorry you feel un-nerved. I really don't think Posen is a journalist, as I said. But could be a trouble-maker.

Beenleigh told me she'd be offline for a while and I think is busy with stuff in Real Life. I know she will be sending you and Molly good wishes. As I am!

sandybeach · 27/11/2007 20:23

Posen - for someone agressivly seeking the facts and honesty from someone on MN, it is strange that you yourself have changed your name to ask all your questions. Not much integrity there...

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 27/11/2007 20:27

Likewise Fran....if you need to chat at any point, my MSN is: [email protected]

ScoobyDoo · 27/11/2007 20:28

he he sorry my msn was wrong

It's [email protected]

sandybeach · 27/11/2007 20:29

Fran - I'm so sorry that you are feeling you have to step back from mn because of the agressive questioning. As if you haven't got enough to cope with at the moment.

Remember that some of us on here support you and that if you have other questions or need support for regular preganancy or birth stuff (which you may well! Especially being away from home) you can always name change and ask without the baggage of what you've been through.

FranLyon · 27/11/2007 20:31

Hi Posen,

I'll take you at your word that you are not press. If you are social services then really it doesn't matter.

  1. Whether you believe it or not, it is sadly the case. We have asked, more times than I can remember, for the full (preferably logical) reasons for their plans to be disclosed. It was to no avail. I do have legal access to the whole of the file - though, like many things in the case, it was taking an exceptionally long time to be forthcoming. For instance I still do not know how the paediatrician ever became involved. I promise you it is not for want of asking!
  1. As I've said - I don't know what the Trevor McDonald programme said, I'm not in the country and so didn't see it. I use an apple mac and sadly ITV's replay function doesn't work on the mac platform so I can't go and check.
  1. What do you mean by "some form of munchausen's"? There is only one form, and it has been categorically stated, repeatedly, by several independent clinicians, that I do not have it.

I don't choose not to discuss my hospital admissions - it's reasonably obvious to anyone who sees a picture of me that I have a tracheostomy. It'd be pretty daft of me to try and pretend there is no issue. I haven't "played it down" or "kept it quiet" - but nor have I made a huge fuss about it. Which is a reasonable reflection of how I deal with it in my day to day life.

Thanks,

Fran

NoNameToday · 27/11/2007 20:33

I initially posted as papillon and someone with very similar name objected so I changed to Nonametoday and have maintained that identity since then.

I have the right to question what is written here, and in the press, and make my judgement accordingly, as does evry other poster on this forum.

There are situations where I may disagree with what is posted, it doesn't mean I am wrong or right, it means I am making a decision based upon the information available, as do all other posters.

To post on this thread, it appears you must agree totally with the feeling of the majority, or be subjected to scorn!

Is no one 'allowed' to dissent?

edam · 27/11/2007 20:38

Posen, I know another case where a woman who had hospital treatment for a very real medical condition was accused of attention seeking and possibly Munhausen's. The infamous 'expert' who suggested it, Roy Meadows, had never met her and has since been discredited.

She is now in a wheelchair, as a result of a very serious and real condition. It just happens to be rather rare so took a long time to be diagnosed. No-one has ever apologised for making such horrible and untrue allegations.

Any of us could develop an illness or condition tomorrow that could mean spending a lot of time at the doctors. If you want to treat anyone who goes into hospital several times as suspicous, they are going to have to employ thousands more social workers to cope with the caseload.

doricgirl · 27/11/2007 20:38

Hi NNT

I think what people are objecting to is the persistent asking of vague questions and refusing to take on board the answers.

There is no obligation in my view to agree with anyone here and I agree it doesn't make any of us right or wrong and is the point of a discussion forum. It gets kind of stuck if everyone is confused
