Thinly disguised smug oneupmumship like this just makes me feel so tired.
Pass the kitkats.

What a load od smug, self-congratulkatory, wanky poncification

I'd hate to have a wanky kid that siad "No, mummy, this gavadlax is nothing like Jean-Lucs, I utterly detest it. You are such an inadequte mother. Now do run along and go and polish the family Silllvahhh"

cestlavie · 15/11/2007 12:07

Don't miss it's follow ups:

"The Hell that is Having Super Intelligent Children" and "Why a Beautiful Child is Curse and a Blessing".

Catch them quickly before the author disappears up her own arse.

catsmother · 15/11/2007 12:07

Blu is absolutely right ..... but then my impression of anything Lauren Booth writes is always a thinly-disguised boast of some sort "hidden" behind a "I'm a down to earth normal frazzled mum just like you dear reader" type moan. Something is always either going "wrong" with her life, or has gone wrong already .... with which we are all supposed to empathise ...... yet my back is invariably put up at the same time because she usually also manages to "drop in" a little detail (or two) which a) puts her outside the experience of most "average" families and b) might as well say "I think I'm a cut above you really".

And lest you forget that she now lives in France, that is always mentioned one way or another. So what.

Or at least that is my opinion of her.

morningpaper · 15/11/2007 12:13

Hmm she needs a few cooking lessons if it takes her two hours in the kitchen to make "home made spaghetti bolognaise"

IntergalacticWalrus · 15/11/2007 12:25

SAhe could have saved her time and wrote

"my childrewn are better then yours, you oiks" and C&Ped it 400 times to get up to her word count

MerryAnnSinglemas · 15/11/2007 12:28

smug or what ?

RosaTransylvania · 15/11/2007 12:33

Oh Gawd help me I just clicked the link again to see what the comments were like - still only one there, the mods must be struggling a bit!

MP you are so wrong about the time taken to make spag bol.
By the time you have made the pasta from scratch (00 flour only please), put the finest organic fillet steak through the mincer, popped out to the kitchen garden to select the freshest vegetables and herbs, simmered your homegrown plum tomatoes until they are the correct consistency and finished off the spare three-quarters of a bottle of Cotes du Rhone you would be lucky to get it all done in two hours.
By which time little Flora and Jessamy are banging their cutlery on the Cath Kidston oilcloth and complaining about slow service.
Hic!

I was goiung to mpost a comment, but I am banned from commenting on the DM website

[hardcore]

Wisteria · 15/11/2007 12:44

PMSL IW - what did you do?

IntergalacticWalrus · 15/11/2007 12:48

I probably posted that I breastfed my DS1 for longer then 3 days, which obviously makes me a perv in the eye of the average DM reader.

I can't actually remember tbh. I have made so many comments on there about things. All I know is when I press post, a little thing comes up saying my YRL is blocked or something like taht

Wisteria · 15/11/2007 12:49
Grin
Blu · 15/11/2007 12:54

LOL Rose.

They have bogged off and abandoned the 'post a comment' facility, haven't they? So much for listening to readers.

TwoIfBySea · 15/11/2007 13:28

There is a happy medium in all of this...she isn't it.

My dts love carrot sticks too, won't eat carrots cooked. They have their likes and dislikes but I have to say if either of them turned round and said half of the guff that is coming out of the mouths of these two they'd be cooking for themselves!

Smug is the polite way of describing her.

yurt1 · 15/11/2007 13:33

'Holly ate around ten of the sweets then was sick every 15 minutes from 6pm to 2am."

Oh purleease.

Wisteria · 15/11/2007 13:40

I just don't believe that part at all....

Blu · 15/11/2007 14:11

Can anyone ask the DM WHY they invite commenst and then only post one??

There may be people out there with more gullibility, or lacking the reality check of Mn - who are genuinely intimidated by this sort of crap, and making themselve sfeel bad. they should be able to see from the commenst page that they are not failures!

Swedes2Turnips1 · 15/11/2007 14:38

After reading that link, I plan to be sick every 15 minutes from 6pm to 2am. My DD has a thing about Quavers.

Bundle · 15/11/2007 14:39

holly was vomming after reading her mum's column methinks...

CatIsSleepy · 15/11/2007 15:51

'My two squeal if served Camembert cheese that hasn't been warmed through first.'

oh LOLOLOLOL
what a couple of unbearable little ponces she is raising

and we are supposed to feel sorry for her??

oh dearie me

NoNameToday · 15/11/2007 19:03

Really couldn't be bothered to read thefull article, but couldn't resist reading this thread in detail.

Thank you all for a great laugh.

GibbonInABloodSoakedRibbon · 15/11/2007 19:08

'But what about those of us whose children tut if the vinegar on their salad is a supermarket brand less flavoursome than balsamic?'

oh FRO

ggglimpopo · 15/11/2007 19:51

My brought-up-in-France dd had lunch at a friend of mines house a while back. She brought dd home and made much of having been to local organic market (v expensive and v posey here) to choose them a fish for lunch. When she had gone dd said 'Her mashed potato was really really nice - can you make ours like that please'? I was imagining the inclusion of grated organic pecorino or creme fraiche straight from ze farm - when dd said, 'she doesnt go to all the fuss that we do with peeling the potatoes, she just opened a packet et voila!'

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 15/11/2007 19:58

IGW - much respect at being banned from DM website!

Another classic DM article - a woman who hates other women and has to do thenm down by demonstrating her own 'superiority'.

Pass the chicken nuggets!

welliemum · 15/11/2007 20:18

Oh poo - was goaded into posting a comment on the website. Let's see if it appears....

SpikeandDru · 15/11/2007 20:28

Oh thank goodness other people wanted to barf too. Silly cow! "My kids will only eat home cooked organic". Stupid bint.
