I think it was Rhys Jones murder in 2007 for me.

Economic crisis in 2007. I'm Spanish and it was a huge blow for the country. The news were talking about it day and night. Every lunch break, in a very matter-of-fact way, me and my primary school classmates would discuss whose parent had been made redundant this week. It seemed so normal... Looking back now I see how worrying those years must have been for all the adults.

Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, which I think was also 2007.

The spaghetti trees April Fool news report! Our teacher actually went to the trouble of wheeling a tv into the classroom to show us that and to see who swallowed it Smile
That must haven been very early 1980s...

Holly and Jessica was the first I remember watching on the news. I didn't have a TV growing up and just happened to see this when in a hotel. I was 12. I remember 9/11 though, obviously, and being told about princess Diana, but didn't hear about them through the media.

The spaghetti harvest hoax was 1957, my mum remembers watching it with her parents as a teenager and her mum going ‘well I never!’

One of the IRA bombings in London, I think it was in a bin? I was due to go on a brownie trip to the imperial war museum and was terrified I’d get bombed. Must have been late ‘80s?

The Yorkshire Ripper hunt. I was ten years old at the time. We lived about 250 miles away but I remember a single mum with two children moved from there to our small town, as she was so worried.

The moon landing ! Remember watching it on tv (in the states) with family. I think I can remember the excitement but that’s probably not memory but imagination.
Wish I had been older and had clear memories of what it all meant etc.
