Toddler fallen down 100m hole and the rescue efforts

I searched but couldn’t find a thread on this. It’s one of the most harrowing news stories I’ve read in a while and I can’t keep my mind off it for long.

Has anyone been following the rescue efforts for the two year old who fell down a 25cm x 100m borehole. I can’t stop thinking about that poor poor family, he fell down last Sunday. They are frantically drilling hoping he may still be alive. His older brother died suddenly of a heart attack aged 3 whilst running on a beach not long ago too.

Just found this thread. I've been following on Euroweekly and can't understand why there hasn't been any media coverage here.

If anyone's on Twitter, @SillySingleSJ is posting updates in English. She says she's staying up tonight until there's news. It looks like they'll break through to where he is (hopefully) pretty soon.

Some UK media seems to have visited the subject briefly when Julen first fell, and just left it at that. Disappointing.

They need to do more explosions this is unbearable

Just checked the news as woke up. Knew this would be the outcome but still feel so sad. Poor baby. Feel so much for the family. So unfair.

I heard it on Radio 4 news, although at this time of night it's broadcasting World Service so maybe that's why.

So sad. Just heard the family had lost a previous child already- died at 3 from a heart condition

I have a child a similar age and have spent most the night in tears thinking how scared and lonely he would have been down there. I really, really hope he didn't suffer too much.

His poor parents, how much more can they take? They've already lost one son and now this!

So sad to hear that his body has been recovered- I think we all knew this would be the outcome, but hoped deep down for some sort of miracle. At least his family can lay him to rest. RIP Julen x

I’m glad they have finally found his body. It took so long to find him that there was no chance of him still being alive. It must have been torture for his poor parents.

Oh God, this makes me feel so sad and angry. Why did it have to happen. Poor little baby. I can't imagine how devastating it is for the parents.

Absolutely heartbreaking poor little boy and his poor family. We were all hoping for a miracle.
