The old thread takes too long to load.

Lets hope this is the one that contains the good news that she has been found alive and well.

It's such a shame that this poor innocent little girl is still away from her parents.

I hope she is safe and well and is being cared for however i feel not

The poor girl probably just wants her mummy and daddy to hold her

paulaplumpbottom · 25/05/2007 21:07

It sounds like they have a lead! Thats good news

NikkiBFG · 25/05/2007 21:09

What lead?

Fingers crossed!!

Wolfgirl · 25/05/2007 21:13

Yes, just read about it on teletext.

Wolfgirl · 25/05/2007 21:14

statement expected from parents this afternoon.

paulaplumpbottom · 26/05/2007 16:22

So they think this guy was there on the night?

Wolfgirl · 26/05/2007 17:50

uh oh! guess I'll just have to eat my hat ladies!!!!!

Brown 'spoke to Madeleine's father'

Thats good news! xx

Judy1234 · 26/05/2007 18:43

They should have issued a photofit the day after she went missing. The McCann should hire an English police artist to make up a picture having interviewed the holidaymaker who saw her being carried that day or was it the next day by this man?

Also they need to interview the lady in Morrocco who thinks she saw her at the petrol station and see if she recognises a photofit of this man, although there may well be a chain of people who have taken and hidden her I suppose. Has anyone checked for DNA at the petrol station in Morrocco as they were too late to get the CCTV footage?

jenk1 · 26/05/2007 19:10

The mccans friend witnessed the abduction on the night of 3rd may

here

Wolfgirl · 26/05/2007 19:10

I darent air my views on this thread too much, but it would have been nice for us Brits to know a bit more about the Portugese police's progress. I wish things had been explored a bit more thoroughly, as who knows what these delays could have caused.

Im still wanting to hold out hope for the PP, but fear they might have been a bit lapse. They do have extraordinary archaic laws, preventing them from revealing stuff, so we can only hope that were ALWAYS on top of things. Unfortunately, too many reports are coming to our attention specifying the contrary. Shame really.

I also prayed again in earnest today for little Madeleine, I feel so much for that poor lass. I hope if she is still alive she is being treated well, and not being harmed, scared or violated in anyway.

xx

Judy1234 · 26/05/2007 19:16

I am not sure their attitude is wrong. The concentrate on catching the criminal and not feeding a media frenzy. If they act quickly behind the scenes then it's fine. We just don't know I think enough to say if they're good or not. It must be very hard for them to take hundreds of calls and decide which to follow up and who is a hoazer or nutter etc

Surely a decent photofit of the man issued in Morocco, Portugal, Spain, UK would help to jog people's minds and think - did I see that man with a little girl or has someone near us recently suddenly started behaving strangely or did that man or woman who doesn't have a child suddenly start buying children's food or whatever.

TaylorsMummy · 26/05/2007 19:19

that is so awful, that she witnessed her being taken and then joined them for dinner.imagine the guilt she feels now.

mylittleimps · 26/05/2007 21:46

agree with wolfgirl and would also like to say Madeleine being safe is in my thoughts every moment.

i hope the headlines today in many of the papers gives whoever has Madeleine a conscience and helps the person to remember he/she is doing something very wrong by keeping her, and keeping her parents in the dark about her whereabouts.

IMHO very very strange the police in Portugal policy not allowing descriptions to be released asap after the incident, also very frustrating to every british person used to UK Law. i'm sure Xenia, the McCanns would have done that if they could, unless we are expert in the law in Portugal we can't criticise the McCanns in what they have done about it - their hands, it sounds, were probably tied and I would think that is why they have been having discussions with the Uk Governmnet(?) and there has now been a change in policy with this case and it has been released.

I also now understand the McCanns criticism of the police shortly after their daughter was missing.

won't be posting anything further on the subject

allgonebellyup · 27/05/2007 10:53

i think that it is v unlikely (and deeply depressing) that maddie is being treated well, if she IS still alive. I know everyone wants to be hopeful but these paedophiles dont usually steal little girls to just "care" for them and keep them well-fed. You dont want to think the worst but the chances are its happening/happened. God only hopes she doesnt appear on one of those disgusting websites soon.

Also lets hope the story doesnt get dropped from the news and fade away.

mylittleimps · 27/05/2007 11:11

i don't think it was necessary to spell out everyone's biggest fears.

better to all hope and pray that Madeleine is safe and will be returned to her family.

Judy1234 · 27/05/2007 11:43

The McCanns might have hired detectives on day one and pretended they haven't which would be good cover for their own investigators. I would never criticise them. I think they're doing really well. It must be dreadful. Also she may have been sold to a loving couple abroad who want to adopt. We just don't know.

hercules1 · 27/05/2007 16:10

Here, here, Xenia.

mumoftwoangels · 27/05/2007 16:33

I have just come back from Spain. The only thing i saw about this poor little girl was the poster when i left the uk. There was NOTHING in Spain. My friends who we met up with had been on holiday in mainland Europe for 3 weeks and new nothing of her disapperence!

I am not going to voice my opinions on the parents, But I hope everyone now thinks twice before leaving the little darlings alone anywhere.

prawnsmum · 27/05/2007 16:42

Hi ive not posted on this subject either only looked to see if there was any news but just wanted to add I came home from majorca yesterday and there were lots of posters asking for information - at Palma airport, the hotel we stayed in and around the local shops

Judy1234 · 27/05/2007 16:56

I would be happoy to leave children that age asleep in those circumstances again. I've done it before and this wouldn't change my practice on that type of holiday. Nor would I curb the risks my children take every day.

imaginaryfriend · 27/05/2007 19:27

I admire your confidence Xenia but I wouldn't be happy to leave my dd alone, especially after this, even the parents have said they now think they were 'naive' to assume that nothing would happen in what they thought was such a safe place.
