The old thread takes too long to load.

Lets hope this is the one that contains the good news that she has been found alive and well.

OP posts:

this is weird. disturbing even. and what I find most odd is... if my child had been abducted, I don't think I would be able to let the other two children out of my sight. Certainly wouldn't be putting them into kids club twice a day so soon after the event...

but maybe that's just me.

I still find it weird though.

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2007 17:39

OH DEAR!!! NK4cdb4418X1128a277799, as soon as I saw your link, I thought Cod was right (so darn unfortunately!), it has become obsessive and my link too - following their tracks.

Im all for some news, and so want the child to be safe, but we are now following hour by hour events of the parents, as thought they have become icons of fascination.

Mmmm... well cod, you may have a point, but you are so darn rude when you have something to say - does my head in! blahhhhhhhhhhh!

toomuchtodo · 20/05/2007 17:46

agree wanna

in my experience people who are happy to leave 3 toddlers in a room alone and go out for dinner aren't the over protective, fussy sort

as for being back in the kids club, my friend who's a childminder said when she heard Maddie had been abducted "and I bet she spent all bloody day in the kids club too"

detatched parenting I'd call it

hercules1 · 20/05/2007 17:53

These last few messages have got to be the most sickest I've read in my 3 years on mumsnet.

JoolsToo · 20/05/2007 17:54

tomorrow's Guardian headline

GERRY MCCANN PICKS HIS NOSE

(call the papparazzi)

hercules1 · 20/05/2007 17:55

I bet some of the posters here will be anaylsing his nose picking in relation to how good a parent they are.

LIZS · 20/05/2007 18:35

tbh it concerns me that they've employed some pr person to publicise such tittle tattle and it is going to backfire quite soon if not already. What on earth does it matter how they fill their hours or if they need to pop back home ? They are probably so out of touch with rl, detached and going through the motions, that they don't know what to make of it or even how they they are continuing to function themselves.

mommajools · 20/05/2007 18:39

why do they need a PR person? police liason officers, counsellers, interpreters yes but why the need for PR?

CODalmighty · 20/05/2007 18:40

maybe its taking all their time away form their little ones?

munz · 20/05/2007 18:45

agree hurcules.

noonar · 20/05/2007 19:56

cab, i will get dh to email a family friend who has a computer.

i will ask him to ask how well publicised maddie's story has been.

auntyspan · 20/05/2007 20:06

My parents have just returned from a weeks holiday about an hour away from Malaga in spain and they said towards the end of the week (wednesday onwards) everywhere they went there were pictures of Madeleine - in taxis, on lamposts, in shops - the place was flooded. There were people giving out posters in all languages at the airport in the departure lounge too.

All helpful I guess?

smittenkitten · 20/05/2007 20:46

interesting - i'm just back from a week in the Algarve (different resort) and there was only one poster i saw in Faro airport, an A4, black and white badly photocopied one stuck to the desk for outsize luggage. Didn't see anything else.

toomuchtodo · 20/05/2007 21:37

whats sick about it hercules1?

I've got at least 10 years childcare experience and I've seen detatched parenting a lot

agree the McCann's will be going through the motions just now and will probably not know what day of the week it is, but before this awful event I would guess they were in favour of detatched parenting

would love to be proved wrong though

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 20/05/2007 22:04

I find it weird because the photos, the diary, is not about Madeleine, it?s about the mccanns. Why do we need to know what time they get up and what time they meet with their pr adviser? Is that publicising Madeleine?s plight? I think not. In fact the way it?s written you might as well go and read someone?s blog that you?d never heard of.

And I find it odd that they feel the need to tell the world that they are putting their twins into kids club twice a day because, having lost one child, I find it hard to understand how they could let the others out of their site into the care of people who, for all they know, might have had a hand in their daughter?s abduction. After all there have been no arrests, so surely anyone could have been responsible.

mummylin2495 · 20/05/2007 22:59

agree with wannabe

mommajools · 20/05/2007 23:17

I agree wannabe - I would keep my kids next to me but that is the lure/ ethos - can't think of the right word - but MW holidays appeal to the professional classes - the ones who work and therefore have nannies normally. MW holidays can look after your children from the morning through to late evening - you just have to pick them up at lunchtime and tea time - though I believe there is the option to pay for a nanny to care for them then you can use the evening crech/babysitting service for the evenings.
Plus apparently the holidays are very expensive.

you both make good points Jejas and Nusererjo which I can fully understand but it was reported they did put the kids in the creche the day after Madeleine went missing - I thought I personally could not do that but then also I thought they would not want to subject the toddlers to the grief they would be experiencing.

thirtiesmum · 21/05/2007 07:41

can't belive all this...the mccanns are desperate to stay in the papers so they can FIND THEIR DAUGHTER!!!...They NEED to come up with news storys...and as there are no developments in the case they have realeased this diary and pictures knowing it will get them front page.
They NEED a pr person as publicity is the KEY to getting madelieine back.
You lot are a bit thick if you couln't work that out.
What on earth did you think they realeased this diary for??..Or get a pr person??
I really hope you are not all all sick enough to think they are enjoying the publicity.
As hercules said..i would do the same ...They will do ANYTHING to get maddie back..so why are you vultures attacking them for SPEAKING to the papers.
THAT IS WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO!!!!

thirtiesmum · 21/05/2007 07:47

Also agree with nursery jo...they need to use the kids club so they can spend time focusing on the case ...coming up with new ideas for publicity etc.
It wouldn't be fair to the twins to keep them locked up in an apartment all day...and with people coming and going all day it wouldn't be safe either.
I totally admire the mccanns..They are very driven and focused and i pray that their efforts pay off.
I think some of you lot would prefer it if Kate mccan came wailing out of here apartment for the whole world to see...She hasn't given up...she will do and try anything to help this case...I admire their strenght I really do.
